Great film once again Matt, fantastic fishery is Partridge with everything on site that you would ever need for a day's fishing 😀 also fantastic to see your dad smashing it up big time, he won the quid on this trip I take it 😀👍💪keep up the great work pal👌 HOLBAR 1- good luck everyone 🤞🤞🤞
As promised now the video has hit 3000 views I have randomly selected someone who has commented with holbar 1 ! Congratulations Tony you have won the WestysAngling T-shirt please contact me to arrange delivery 🎣🎉
Great video Matt. Good to see your Dad getting more involved, looks like he had a good day fishing Holbar1. Judging by that it means it'll be your turn for the busier day next time, at least that's how it seems to go. Keep up up the good work.
Peg 22 🤣🤣🤣 I think skill took over the favorite peg🤣 good ow dad nice to see the grin on his face today.....nice one dad...all joking aside it looked a lovely fishery but as you say some of them fish were in a poor condition especially that one with the broken bottom jaw,but all in all a brilliant day and pleasure to watch, well done the pair of you 👌👍
great video again mat...plenty of bites..plenty of fish..keeping it real as it happens deffo gonna try those pellets on my local!...tight lines to you and ya dad....
Awesome awesome place to go for a day lol, looks amazing 🤩 plenty of fish’s for you and the dad well done guys! Thanks for the discount code I will give them a try soon 👌 and thanks for the chance to win one of this awesome T-shirts! Holbar one ❤
My dad mentioned that it could be that ! Who knows, but there where definitely carp spawning that day! 🎣 I think we did ok for carp considering the weather 🐟
I have tried it a couple of places now, I am still thinking it’s probably better with a more fixed lead, however the ease of swapping hooklengths is brilliant 👌🏻🎣
Beaten up mouths generally caused by using silly test curve rods, fish are dragged in pulled through the reeds ahhh it’s so disappointing and you see it so often ,,, people need educating and it’s people like you guys setting a great example using softer rods and actually playing the fish… massive thumbs up👍
I agree, this is the only think that can cause damage like this! Someone mentioned that they should probably not call it a specimen lake, but I think the name allows them to charge more I guess 😂🎣
Hi Westy, lovely video, as usual, I'm enjoying all of your content, keep them up. Just have a question regarding a reliable reel suitable for mid-sized carp, it seems I'm not having a very successful rate landing them, so I'm thinking of replacing my reel, any recommendations for bait runner reels will be much appreciated.
I'm using a ready-tied Guru hair rig with band, size 12 hook and a 40gm method feeder, my mainline is a 12lb Daiwa sensor. I used 10 mm wafter before but now switched to 8mm.
@@WestysAngling the line doesn't break but the carps release themselves after fighting hard and I end up either losing the wafters or the hairline rig cut, I was able to land tenches that fight well but not the carps.
Hi Matt great video (again) ,I fished there last year and I did find that most of the carp I caught had deformed mouths and was disappointed but as you say very heavily fished cheers mate oh and Holborn 1 😂😂
Glad it’s not just me that noticed the mouth damage! But they are still feeding and nothing they can really do about it being so popular 🎣 just one of them things, the darker side of the hobby I guess!
I think it was the band’um wafters that floated, the ones I discard and throw into the water do float but good tip in that a size 12 or bigger holds it down!
Thanks westy im going for 1 rod on westys pink wafters and the other on a selection of ofther wafters to give them a test im thinking the fishmeal should work well there hopefully
Me & father in law fished Holbar 1 summer last year, it was mega slow but however it was a weekend & there wasn’t a free peg whatsoever on there, we will hopefully go back this year it’s also a amazing looking place to, just ordered my first Aquastim order & PS I’m an XL in T-shirts 😂
You and dad had a great days fishing WESTY eh. Well worth the price for day trip . Some nice fish especially the roach mate.pity about the mouths on the carp it seems to be the thing at these commercials eh. Xl not big enough for me mate hehe.
hi mate yet another good video, any chance you can try fishing with a helicopter rig,i bought a pack of rigs but never had a bite ,itll be interesting how you get on cheers matey all the best
It’s a rig I would normally use in spring and winter but not necessarily through the summer ! I will definitely put it on the list of videos to make for you though Nigel 👌🏻🎣
Would love to see what you can pull out of Lower Ridge Farm and Fisheries,Saughall, CH1 6HH caught 100 carp between three of us last month the owner says there’s carp upto 30lb in there too
@WestysAngling I know but been online and they do a few different types. Don't worry I will take a punt. Enjoy your videos and it's great to see your "Dad" time.
Really enjoyed your video , just my opinion but maybe Holbar1 should change from specimen lake to match/pleasure lake , think people hear the word specimen and out come the 3lb plus rods and size 4 hooks , but there seems to be a good stock of smaller fish , more suited to tip fishing, I’m not at all against big carp fishing , but to many kids start with two rods and alarms now and could be cause of 95% of mouth damage , just my opinion and I’m probably wrong 😑, but for a beautiful looking fishery it’s a shame that most of the fish are damaged, but great review as always 😊🎣
Well said ! I agree with this, you definitely don’t need all that gear on that lake you are fine with the feeder rods and wafters. The big hooks and heavy gear are potentially doing the damage. You are probably right Chris, you hook a fish on heavy tackle it goes into the reeds and you yank it out, it’s going to cause damage like that. No other way I can think of would have caused that. Thanks buddy, tight lines and take care 🎣
Got to admit for a specimen lake and extra cost not that great weight wise. Caught same sorts of weights on the normal Partridge lakes and cheaper too.🤨
Its a lovely venue but its not the best for carp. Its certainly not a speciman lake and the fact there is no night fishing the big carp arent getting caught.

Another great film westy just had my hip opp and watching the videos makes the time go past

So true that ! He has had a couple of good days since 😂
Great video. Inspired me to get back out with my dad again and drop a line
Grew up fishing at Partridge Lakes. Not been for a number of years but seen the transformation and it looks incredible!

Another great video with good fishing. I wonder if those Bream were hanging around feeding on Carp eggs if the Carp had spawned.
Stay safe and thanks
My dad mentioned that it could be that ! Who knows, but there where definitely carp spawning that day! 🎣 I think we did ok for carp considering the weather 🐟
Great video, i commented on another video of yours about fishing with a method and using it as a zig rig ,and now its come true.😂
I have tried it a couple of places now, I am still thinking it’s probably better with a more fixed lead, however the ease of swapping hooklengths is brilliant 👌🏻🎣
Brill idea that, saves breaking down a rig, I'll do that with a drennan method, they go to 60 grams, should be enough weight that. 👍
I fished Holbar a couple of weeks ago and had a very similar day.....loads of bream the odd roach and some nice carp.
Great video ! What’s that kit box you got looks a nice neat set up! 👌
NGT tackle box 👌🏻 you will see which one it is from the orange rig holders
Brilliant thanks will have a look thanks again!

Keep losing fish as in your line breaks ? I have been using Daiwa regal reels for feeder fishing I’m impressed by them 👌🏻💪🏻

6mm wafters should be 16s and 8mm should be 14s and so on so they waft and not float. Also depends on type of hook too.
going to give aquastim a try in august some of the sweeter pellets, Holbar 1, tight lines bud loving the videos
Thanks for supporting the channel and commenting Connor 🎣
booked on holbar tomorrow for my 1st time. going to try my new westyds wafters out, hope its fishing ok after being netted
I wish you luck mate! If anything will catch it’s those wafters 🎣👌🏻
Thanks westy im going for 1 rod on westys pink wafters and the other on a selection of ofther wafters to give them a test im thinking the fishmeal should work well there hopefully
Noticed in the MAP video that they put the hook length in the clip before loading feeder, I’ll try that Thursday!
Great vid Thx👍🏻
That’s definitely the easiest way to to it ! But I still think the line clip is a gimmick and has drawbacks. Let me know how you get on with it 🎣
@@WestysAngling yes I think you’re right!
Hello and thank you very much for your videos.👍
Cheers.
Daniel (from France)
No problem Daniel ! Thanks for commenting 👌🏻🎣
Great video Westy!
What was the container you used to soak the pellets in?
If you google pellet wetter, there are loads on the market 👌🏻 tight lines David
@WestysAngling thanks Westy. Really got into method feeder fishing of late, rather than being on the float
Great session 👍👍
If ur stuck catching the smaller ones up ur sizes in hooks n hookbajts that’s what I do another great video guys
This is a great tip ! And I did I went to a size 8 and 12mm wafter, the bloody bream where still having a go 😂🎣
@@WestysAngling typical ain’t it I’ve had a few times in size 6 😂😂👍
Brilliant place got some right chunks in there as well

I agree with you about the Prestons butt grips they are good but I've had 3 slit on me inches last 9 months. Great video once again.
I have had 1 split !

Hello westy,thank s for video!!
@WestysAngling can I ask what quick change beads your using?
Hi Keith, the MAP ones that come with the feeder 👌🏻 they probably sell them separately also!
Would love to see what you can pull out of Lower Ridge Farm and Fisheries,Saughall, CH1 6HH caught 100 carp between three of us last month the owner says there’s carp upto 30lb in there too
I will put it on the list buddy ! Thanks for the recommendation!
Have U come across any places were koi are caught regularly? Looking for something special to catch
Brookside in Warrington have some decent koi 👌🏻
Mate that looks a dream place bit far from me but I'll try to get there
It’s got something for everyone that’s for sure !

Ahhh sorry about that buddy, the pellets are a lot like the sonubaits f1 sweet sticky pellets 👌🏻🎣
awsome vid sorry about the noise from my helicopter trying to spot some large carp
Should have radioed down to me and told me where they was 😂 because it definitely wasn’t in my peg 🤣
And,...... the Champion is,............your Father 👍👍👍,...... today.

did you feel like pushing your dad in the lake, ha ha
