    Your flat panel moving around might not cause too much of a weight shift, but the wind might catch it like a big sail. Good luck!

      Yes, the sail effect could cause some tracking issues. I personally do not image if there is any wind, because that usually means bad seeing and tracking problems regardless of flat panel.

      Thank you! I always wanted a minimalistic design, as it suffices for backyard requirements.

    Wow, at the end of the video you have about 30kg counterweight on the EQ6R-Pro, that's a lot of weight for that mount, I'm surprised it still works perfect with that much weight.
    The Stainless counterweights are very interesting, thinking of buying those, but how about shipping costs ?
    But I was wondering, what is that mounted on your mount, in the place of the polarscope cap ?

    • @DeepSkyDad

      Yes, are pushing the limits with this telescope, we will see how it performs throughout the winter. For the counterweights, drop us an email to info@deepskydad.com and we can check the shipping cost for your location. Instead of polar cap, we are using an encoder which compensates for RA mechanical errors hence improving the tracking (we also replaced stock circuit with our custom prototype telescope controller).

      @@DeepSkyDadHi. The enconders is your design? They are available for purchase? Thanks

      @@brunofigueira4970 it is in prototype phase, but we do plan to offer it as an upgrade at some point. However, one thing to keep in mind is that this will require replacing stock circuit of the mount.

      I too am VERY interested purchasing that RA encoder to tame the EQ6-R periodic error. It's amazing it can guide 1600mm overloaded by so much. The encoder must be working very well.

    Just WoW!!! BTW, does your Flap Panel work with ZWO ASI 2600MC Air? Is there anything else needed to make it work since I can't control output voltages? Thank you and amazing telescope!!!

      I read air does not let you control power outlets. Influenced my decision to buy a plus recently since I am waiting for my 4th flat panel. 😊 Would be good to know for sure if it works or not.

    • @DeepSkyDad

      @@dm1787 we never tested one hands on and are waiting for a feedback. But I think you might be correct. If the ports have fixed 12V voltage, control is not possible via ASI2600MC Air. I am a bit surprised though, never even thought they might have removed a handy feature like that :)

    Would there be any way to get that flat panel to rotate 90 degrees after opening so it can lay flat against the telescope?
    The way it is I'd be afraid a large wind gust would just rip it right off the telescope.

    • @DeepSkyDad

      The standard FP2, opens the way you describe (and is tucked away against the telescope tube). The idea of this solution is to move only sideways, so no extra space is required in the front or the back of the panel. I think the wind gusts would have to be quite significant to rip the panel off (so in my opinion, imaging in such conditions would not make sense anyway :))

      @@DeepSkyDad I think one possible concern with this design is the panel could act as a sail during breezy conditions, complicating tracking/guiding. Sure looking forward to a motorized flat-panel for my 10" scope!
