  • I posted an video of this a few months ago, but I feel this take is cleaner. This was one of only four numbers that the small group, The Dixie Four, recorded for Paramount Records on June, 1928. The group was comprised of Jimmy Blythe and W.E. "Buddy" Burton on pianos (yes, plural), Bill Johnson on upright bass, and (most likely) Marcus Norman on drums and washboard. I try to approximate the spirit of the group's performance on solo piano. Lindy Hop, anyone?
