  • This Bosch Procore battery was not charging
it was only showing 15.4v which is too low.
The temptation to jump start something of this type of voltage is always there however it is always advisable to open it and test the banks of cells. I found upon testing the cells that indeed one bank which contains 2 21700 4000mah cells was completely dead showing no volts. The only solution was to replace the dead cells I proceeded to remove the dead cells and replace with similar. I was able to salvage 2 cells from a Parkside 8ah battery which had cells of the same type and output although the brand was different.
I installed the cells with a battery spot welder and got the battery back charging and running tools again.
The ProCORE 18V 8.0 Ah Professional is a high-performance battery that delivers the equivalent of up to 2,000 Watts of corded power. Its new generation cell technology, combined with intelligent battery management, delivers 87% more power than conventional batteries. The battery also features COOLPACK 2.0 technology for superior heat dissipation from the inside to the outside of the battery. Why don't you remove all the 21700 cells from the parkside battery and then put them in the Bosch battery so that you don't worry about the balance, capacity, and C rate of the cells? You should also put two nickel strips so that, in case it gets hot, the two nickel strips can handle it and to avoid fire.

Good point about the matching cells but time is a consideration in these repairs to make them viable so I did what I did replaced the 2 cells only.
The risk of fire is very low the strip should burn out before an overload occurs in my opinion. Thank you for commenting

There is no cell balancing in Bosch batteries, that is the reason why they don't last very long. Even Parkside batteries (12v and 20V) have cell balancing, and they are much cheaper than Bosch. I had problems with a Bosch 3Ah "Power For All" (for the green tools) of my vacuum cleaner, the capacity was very low, i used an ISDT Smart Charger to balance the cells of that battery, and after that the capacity was almost like a new battery, but that only lasted for a few months, untill the cells were out of balance again. Bosch is saving money on the balance components on the BMS, by doing that, they can sell more of these very expensive batteries (win-win for Bosch, but a big loss for the costumer)...

This one fell out of balance and 2 cells failed I replaced the cells and rebalanced it which is a long arduous process I didn't show it on this

as for the parkside battery with Bluetooth, usually the Bluetooth module gets shorted the 3.3 volts input and an smd resistor of a value 20 ohms and a 3.3 smd regulator ic
after replacing all of them, you'll have a good working battery again
i tried that, and it worked

What spot welding device are you using? I soldered cells before but O want to move away and think about to get a welder…. I have a TIG machine with Spot Tac function. Maybe I can put some contact tips on it…
