The one thing I needed to see in its entirety and you skipped over it. I'm trying to replace the shoe and I needed to see how to remove the pin that pivots and holds the shoe on once you've removed all the bolts.

I had same problem as video. Jumping didn't work, got mad and just shoving the battery on the charger until It showed the fault, took it off and repeated it 5-6 times and on the last time it started charging

Thank you so much, just helped me fix mine. I used 33swg / 0.25mm enameled insulated copper wire, known mainly as enameled wire from Ebay. Like you I wired it around the outside of the battery terminal instead of through the hole. Actually had to do all 3 wires as I'd accidentally broke them in the process.

Weird story related to this...I had two battery packs that were doing this--no bars, wouldn't charge, no juice. I had set them aside to look at later (I have a seasonal position, things slow down in the winter). I had seen your video about jump-starting dead batteries, and figured today was a good day to give it a shot. And, just for the sake of thoroughness, I put one on the charger--and the silly thing started charging. Decided to try the other one...and it started charging, as well. Batteries baffle me, sometimes. Those things have been dead all summer--conked out in late May, still didn't work at all in early August. And now they do (at least more than they did all summer!)

Hey how could I connect this battery to power a light for my bike? Where would I stick the wires

I always understood Dewalt's chargers would balance the cells if left in the charger in maintenance mode ( after the pack stops charging) unless the internal resistance in the cells are not the same.

U also have to use the battery to dis charge it then try fully charge it again on charger see if the bms still works

I would have just discharged the full bank to get matched up be quicker 😀

Coming way late to the game on this, but I found it very informative. We have a Makita drill and driver set at work that has some failing batteries (plus a couple of second-hand batteries I picked up to try and supplement their usefulness when it got to the point where we only had one functional battery between the two tools), plus my own Dewalt tools, plus some Milwaukee tools left with us by a contractor who comes in regularly and wanted to be sure we had tools he was satisfied with... Anyway, the Makita and some of the Dewalt batteries aren't working anymore...some are completely dead, and some are just never fully charging. It's good to have some clear ideas of what to test and how to test it. I've seen other videos that said recovering them was possible and even talked about how, but never actually showed the process, which was equal parts reassuring (that they weren't automatically useless) and frustrating (that there was no good illustration of how to recover them). I feel a lot more confident digging into them, now!

Another battery fix up👍

I just connect a smart charger to one bank of cells using alligator clips and charge until it’s full. I then do the same with the next bank of cells until all banks are fully charged to 4.2v. If they don’t discharge at the same rate I run a refresh cycle on the lazy bank then charge them all back up. Takes ages since the smart charger thinks it’s charging a single 18650.
