Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
Impeccable work my friend
Thank You Thomas
That's true plenty to go around for anyone mad enough to repair power tools.
Well said there is certainly something wrong with us between the ears
Great videos! Can you please make a video of what kind of greases and cleaning products you are using on curcuitboards and motors please. Is there different greases for drills and grinders for example? Great videos. Have helped me many times with my makita tools!
Will try and do something for you in that line soon
Cracking explanation of how this item works 💯👍
So fiddly and confusing hopefully that helps people

You should measure the voltage of all 5 cell groups in the battery before doing anything. This will indicate if this battery is worth salvaging, or serve as a cell donor. Don't start working on replacing the first group, to later find out that two other groups are bad. To optimize this battery's capacity, you should also balance the cells in the battery. All of them should read the same voltage. When the battery is in use, the thing will stop powering your tool as soon as the first cell is depleted. When the battery is on charging, the charger will stop as soon as the first cell gets full. No matter the state of charge of the other cells. A good Li-ion battery has a load-balancing circuit for its cells. Tool batteries usually only have protection, so the manufacturer gets to sell more of them.
Thank you for your comment
Hi
👍
I have a stupid question my friend if someone were to put a dead dewalt battery on a knockoff battery charger could it damage the battery
Any bad charger can damage a battery not common but it happens
Have you tried a board level repair? Seems a bit of a waste to toss an entire board for a 10 cent component. (Not saying i havnt done that myself)
I haven't attempted board repair I do usually toss the board they are cheap and I am not at the level that I could repair boards
@@doctorlefthandthreadboard level repair is on my learning bucket list as well. Love your videos!
Another one power tool battery saved from scrapyard! For easier desoldering you could try a desoldering pump. Even a cheap one can do the job.
Thanks
I think I had a battery doing that. Think I'll order a board. Get a case for an M18 that's busted too. Battery seems fine just a busted case
Try the small BMS next time.
Thanks
Knigtrider battery
😆
Ur on the sparkling method again and great job on this project battery
No sparks no fun
Have you found the issue? I have one that does the same thing.
I haven't I was going to replace the switch but the owner didn't want to pay the cost of repair
@@doctorlefthandthread i tried changing the switch but it didn't fix the problem. I think the motor is broken because it tries to turn when it makes that sound.
250lb Gorilla been leaning on that lol
You have no idea how accurate that is maybe 300 pounds to be honest
Honestly,I would have tossed that in the skip-Someone actually sent that in for you to repair? That will never be the same tool again...not like it hasnt earned its keep is it! Dude needs to try brushless. Great repair, but sometimes you reach a point...where there is no point!
Yeah even I say no to some I had 2 makita batteries sent to me one was beyond repair the circuit board needed replacing and the cells were all beyond recovery I would have needed to build a full battery. I decided with time components and materials it wasn't worth it. I do however get a kick out of getting a tool working again even in a suboptimal way. If I think it's cost effective to do it I will.
Хотя бы помыл ее, тебе не противно его в руки брать при ремонте?
Not as much as I should maybe
Their not making batteries for other brands so if you want to use other brands then get that battery for it
That is true
Nice one
Thanks for watching
Very cool Pat‼️
Hi mate what material is the metal plate you used to spot weld the batteries together?
Nickel strip amzn.to/4d5tG7M
@@doctorlefthandthread thanks pal keep up the content. It's nice to see a second opinion with deans content too only just came across your channel. Recently tried getting ripped off by a DeWalt repair centre I think they were overpricing repairs so you asked to scrap the tool then keeping the tool and repairing for profit. They quoted me more than the value of the tool on 6 of my tools which had the common switch fault on DeWalt anyway I repaired them all for free with the contact cleaner trigger repair. Another was a simple chuck replacement on drill (easy chuck replacement without taking the whole housing apart) I removed the chuck and waiting on a £20 replacement. They quoted me £150 for a £100 drill
@@josh-yy8wx thanks for your comment it all helps
You’re at 10.1k now good job
Thanks
Well done lad as a repair man my self good for you..and at the moment i could do with You. My work mate is out and won't be back so under pressure.
Thanks hope you get him back repair men are not common
Well Pat is a legendary character and supporter 🎉🎉🎉
You lads are all part of team Dr Lefthandthread
Congratulations
Thank you
Thank you @Patmac74
what is this battery used for?
Makita power tools
Do you have a video on repairing the power stack batteries?
I haven't had one open yet but I know they are a different animal
Well u have an adult addiction of the Power Tools. Lidl addict 😂😂 you need to get help go to ur PTTA group if u don’t know it stands for Power Tools Terminal Addict. Only in ur area of ur local Lidl once a month on the first week of month found in the middle aisle.
Hati hati kutub + habuk besi masuk asbab berasap dan meledak di masa akan datang perlu vacum habuk besi itu.
It is true what an old service technician told me once. that many faults can be rectified by going back to basics ; cleaning, connections/switches/plugs, Correct movement and lubrication where necessary.
True, I find that alot
Great repair
Thank you
Worked for me, just tried it on a battery that’s been “unserviceable” for months made my own connections with the shop materials hooked up the voltmeter and tested it on a impact gun works again! Thanks
Awesome thanks for commenting
Thanks for vid! Thought mine was knackered but because of your vid and a £3 order of new parts its back as it was.
That's great I am always happy to see comments like yours
I did the same thing with a smaller battery pack, but the other cells died soon after. my instant battery repair was to order a new pair off Amazon and they were 'fixed' the next day. 🤷
It can happen that way replace 2 and the rest can follow depends on how much the battery has done and how old it is
Yes lad where are u based?
Tyrone
@@doctorlefthandthread 4or5 that I can’t get working could u get a look at them and I sort ya for it?
@@user-hu7my2ki7k I stopped working at the Flexvolt I had a bad turn around with them could only get about one in 10 working. Not taking Flexvolt for the time being but that could change in the future.
Third attempt, seems like my post is being restricted as it contained a link. Can you recommend a decent set of criclip pliers that will cover most scenarios when working on power tools…I was thinking of Knipex Precision Circlip Pliers Set 00 20 03 SB? Your thoughts?
My thoughts are you cannot go wrong with Knipex
Nice, last question, will this set cover most scenarios?
@@Howto-hj4sq not so sure I use a little cheaper set with changeable heads because I would only be working at things with small circlips. It depends what kind of stuff you work at
Thanks
Nice job doc
Thanks!
Nice. Watch deans vids, subscribe to your channel too but don’t watch many vids-no particular reason, however, given your perspective on things, i think I’ll be supporting your channel more
I appreciate it thanks
You both have absolutely helped me fixing random tools at work. I am very happy to see that Dean is back.
Absolutely it would have been a tragedy if all those videos were lost forever
Even Linus Tech Tips, one of the biggest tech channels on youtube got hacked once. No one is safe, take care lads
It could happen to anyone
Well said. I wondered where Dean had gone. Glad he is now back.
Definitely such alot of work disappearing like that was shocking
This is devastating I hope this doesn't happen to any of us
Yeah I hope so the good thing is he got it all back which was amazing
I'm glad he got it restored so quickly.
It is shocking to think if you built up something that big it could just be taken away quickly. It gives me hope that he got it back.
