- Hey guys! I am officially trying animation today! Now this short animation took me like 8 hours (I’m not kidding) I’m sure with time it won’t take as long, with more practice, but this is my first animation, and I believe I did pretty well, given I’ve never really animated before. Hopefully you all watching me attempt to animate (on photoshop no less) encourages you all to try, as well as encourages me to keep practicing. :3

This is your first attempt at animation? it's so good!! Acttually, I like your take better than the original gif. Kikyo was my favorite character growing up. This takes me back :)
This is really cool! You've got the bare bones pretty much down for sure! If you ever want to practice it more I suggest watching a video about the 12 Principles of Animation. A lot of small, easy exercises will help you use them like it's second nature. And if I myself have any useful tips to share I'd say it's start big and work to the small stuff. Just think about what parts are dependent on the others for where they move and how they act. Lovely work!!!

I've never thought of using an existing animation as REFERENCE before!! How have I not??? It's such a simple concept- like all art animation commonly uses reference..I just never thought of using an animated reference. This is a gamechanger for me. Thanks so much!

:) I like to believe my understanding of anatomy, perspective, coloring and lighting, from Illustrating helped my first animation look this good.
This is a great animation especially for the first attempt. Believe me I’ve did few animations it’s a lot of work you will definitely improve over time. Keep it up.

I used the overlay and multiply filter for these effects! I’ll be making an indepth tutorial on how i use the effects on psd for my art soon! Its on my todo list of tutorials and FAQ’s ✨
