I'm getting ready to go to the store this morning. My current tally is about $60 for my family of 3 this week. Actually, I've decided to spend the next couple of months eating through our freezers and pantry so I can try something new. I've noticed that my freezer is full of protein cuts that we don't eat often or don't particularly like anymore. But I hate to see food wasted. So I have a goal to eat our way through the roasts and meats in the freezers as well as the freezer meals by the end of March. And then, in April, I plan to do a big Costco meat haul for things we do like (ribeyes, lamb chops, flank steak, etc.) that should be enough to get us through till July. And then repeat. When I did the math, the total comes out to roughly $35-40/week in meat. For quality cuts that we like I feel that's reasonabke, especially since options like lamb chops and ribeyes rarely go on sale. I have a food saver, too, which makes it easier to store things in the freezer. But I'm finding that there are fewer sales on cuts we prefer and the prices for the Costco cuts are reasonable given the product. Their thick ribeyes are 13.99/lb. At my Kroger, they're 15.99/lb for thin sliced cuts. Lamb chops are 5.99/lb, Kroger has them for 12.99/lb. Flank steaks are $1/lb less than Kroger. Etc. It just makes more sense for us since we never eat chicken (hubby hates it) and the cuts are butcher style. Also, Kroger isn't my only option besides Costco, but the other options between myself and each store are Safeway, Raley's/Nob Hill, Trader Joe's, and maybe a Walmart (notorious for incorrect weights on meat). So, Costco really is the best price for me.

@@micahmiller5923 that makes sense. And a great plan! We had so many meat in our freezer that we just kept ignoring because of the same reason. I’m trying to use those up as well and I’m getting so close! I still have some leftover ham, and rolls of sausage, but we’ve kind of shined away from pork sausage and have been eating turkey sausage soI haven’t wanted to use it!

The other day I went into my “Kroger” and had sticker shock when I saw the price of fairlife milk. I held off getting it. I had a feeling I could get it cheaper somewhere else. When we got back to my parents house, my mom and I went to Walmart which is basically her only grocery store besides our local small store. While at Walmart I picked up for about 50 cents cheaper. When I get back to my home I’ll have to check at Walmart or even Aldi before deciding if I’ll stick with this milk or switch to a different kind.

@@amandasnailtasticnails9657 a lot of times Kroger runs a sale and has it for the same or sometimes cheaper than Walmart but between both stores’ regular price Walmart beats Kroger on the Fairlife milk.

I am going to try the Cranberry Bites yummm.
Tonight I cooked a Steak I had found on manager's special. I cut half of it into small pieces adding Onions, Mushrooms, Water Chestnuts, Corn and a little leftover Green Beans plus a bag of Brown Rice and a sauce from a bag of Tempura Chicken ( sauce bags are always too large for 1 person ) , my stirfry was delicious ! And will give me 3 more servings.
