I don't fully understand this play. If Jacob implies that he gave James two liberal cards and James says that there was a Liberal and a Fascist. Doesn't that implicate James? It would make it seem that he is trying to absolve himself.
@@jackalopi3014 Yes that implicates James. It suggests that James wanted everyone to know he *chose* liberal, while Jacob's response suggests he never gave James the choice. Ultimately it gave Adam a false positive on James being fascist.

People who are telling the truth don't have to think about what they are saying in order to get the facts straight. Jacob was thoughtlessly agreeing so as not to arouse suspicion. The important part here is that Jacob was caught in a lie.

@@William_Sk She technically did remove a liberal from the voting pool however, and ties lose. Had the fascists had more experience, they would have voted down Adam's nomination of Bruce, as a tie is a fail. That would have played the odds, and then Adam likely would have killed Elyse, but it would have made Allanah the president, giving them another shot.

“I want Adam”
(SPOILERS) My theory is that if Elyse shot Adam instead, the ringleader of the liberals, then the liberals would have fallen apart. Adam wouldn't have made that play near the end with Bruce, and some people were still skeptical of Bruce so they wouldn't have followed him if he kept saying he was a liberal. Divided liberals are better than a leader who is obviously liberal, in this case, Adam. Either way, she would have been outed as a fascist, because she shot someone who she herself confirmed was a liberal. So, if she shot Adam, then she could at least split up the liberals a bit, because Bruce, a liberal, didn't trust Dan, another liberal. Lawrence was also skeptical of the two. Without Adam, the liberals would have turned on eachother.
That would've been a great play good call
Honestly, I do think Elyse missed so many obvious plays, but I think it had to do with her not knowing who the 4th facist was. She wasn't sure if maybe it was Adam, but Dan was for sure a Liberal. That is my only guess, or Elyse just wasn't on the ball for this one, it was her first time too.
*The first time she's played in a recording. At the start when Joel asked who hasn't played before, only he and Alanah raised their hands.
You're absolutely right. Elyse shot the worst person possible, but I can see why she did that. She didn't want to risk killing a fellow fascist or worst, Hitler.

That Adam move was genius. He got three fascists with that, since Alanah and Elyse were playing dumb and pretended to not understand how it implicated Jacob and they pretty much tried to protect Jacob from the accusation. It definitely led me on to Elyse and Alanah, but I never had a clue about Joel
I thought Jacob played it pretty well. Adams question implicated James rather than Jacob.
Nah I thought it just made Alanah sound like an absolute moron for not understanding it. It also implicated James rather than Jacob since James was the one benefiting from getting to claim he CHOSE liberal.
@@austin31bennett True, I think Alanah made too much of a deal about it not implicating Jacob. I also think her and Elyse made misplays when they both looked at liberals cards and told the truth. They may have thought they would risk outing themselves if they had lied, so it probably would have been better to look at a fellow fascists card and put them in the clear.

I think it was instinctive and he went felt bad and was like "Oh, I shouldn't have looked, I just won't say anything, only Elyse can"
Yeah it kinda ruined how the game was played. He gave presidency to Elyse since he thought she was a liberal like Dan which is why he was surprised she wanted to give chancellor to Elana or Jacob which in turn gave Elyse away and so the cookie crumbled.
He does a look right after that that might have been him realizing he shouldn't have done that.
I noticed this as well but it looked like when he looked away he rolled his eyes.

It didn't prove anything beyond that one of James or Jacob might be a fascist though, which really wasn't that big of a discovery. It also doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize when two people are telling different stories.

After Adam was done busting Nazi balls in Sniper Elite he walked up to the Reichstag and started busting the Nazi Politicians balls figuratively! Nah but for real I feel like Adam played this so well, especially when compared to the first go through. After he figured the rules out he got it locked down.

I think both Funhaus and the audience would get tired of it as great as it is. The occasional game every couple months or so keep it fresh. It is fun when they keep playing these type of board games that involve lying and arguing rather than actual ones involving a board or anything like Life. Def need at least one lying game once a month.
the whole interaction between Adam and Joel going on in the background at 19:00 to 19:30 is where Adam's rainman skills really started coming in to play lmao

Lawrence played this so weirdly, I can't tell if he genuinely believed what had just happened and trusted it would work out or just wasn't thinking it through all the way. That decision could've been a game over for sure if the other team played differently. Also I love these board game videos gonna watch again knowing who is who
I thought his final play made sense if he knew Dan was a liberal. Elyse had checked his card so she should have been forced into picking Dan giving them a liberal Chancellor. Elyse strangely nominated Alannah which immediately made it obvious that both were fascist. Lawrence basically forced Elyse into revealing her position.
ρlague true, they played wrong for sure but it was also a given that they would get the policy they did rather than just giving it to a liberal pres for the win. It still worked out in the end
He saw Elyse check Dan's card as liberal at 31:24, you can see him do a double-take and stare at the card as she looks lmao. I think his rationale was that if she knew Dan was liberal she would choose Dan, but she didn't which was suspicious. Giving it to a liberal president doesn't necessarily ensure a liberal policy gets put down, because when it comes down to it the chancellor is the one that gets to choose the policy. President can narrow it down to 1 liberal 1 fascist, but the chancellor gets to choose which is actually put down. The only way she could stack it is by getting 3 or 2 fascists cards, which she did.

Poor Jacob clearly didn't have his brain wrapped around the game as Hitler. Between asking if Hitler was Chancellor right now did the facist win... WHILE HE WAS CHANCELLOR and spending forever trying to decide which card to play, he outed himself as unelectable.

It actually resets when a policy cards hits a table, meaning 2 failed elections and a veto on the third one counts as 3 failed elections

Lawrence knew Elise was the only one who revealed another person (and actually said what it was) forcing elise to elect dan or reveal herself as a fascist. Pretty smart actually.

I though he picked her purposefully for fascists to win, but he mistakenly chose her so she would reveal herself without understanding he risked losing the game.
@@Rodman200818 Thing is Lawrence accidentaly saw Dans party card at 31:29 so he knew Dan was liberal, and with that in mind it was a smart play because it forced Elyse to reveal her colors. But he was the only one who knew that so it looked very suspicous for everyone else.
@@samUmi why was it smart to prove to everyone that she was fascist by making her president if he already knew it to be highly likely (or he should have) considering he pulled 3 fascist cards and she claimed the same all the while knowing Dan is liberal (and very likely so was Adam), himself a liberal, and hereby giving her/fascism an avenue to win the whole game, rather than articulating his point? He didn't count the odds whatsoever.
@@Rodman200818 It was smart because if she didn't pick Dan (whom he knew was a liberal and she herself has said so) and instead picked someone else, then it outs Elyse and the other person she picks to everyone else. This wouldn't have worked if Elyse knew what she was doing or was playing the game better because she then could have framed an innocent like Bruce, but he banked on the fact that she was bad at the game (which she was). So yeah it was a smarter play than you seem to realise, but it was still a risky play.

Just play Secret Hitler over and over. Make this it's own show. I feel like I could watch it forever as long as the cast members are this into it.
James is incorrect about the rules several times. For example, the election tracker is reset after every successful election. Still love him though.
And the fascist policy letting the president choose the next president has no limitations. It can be anyone, even people who were elected before.
They played it right the last time, I think he was less serious about the rules now because most of them have played the game before
And you only do one investigation and that is once you play two fascist policies. Also the hitler chancellor thing takes place after you play 4 fascist cards. So generally once you reach the thing and not the card before
@@Dominator1039 There are three boards depending on the number of players in the game. With 9-10 people, you have two investigations and a succession selection.
Additionally, the fascists win if Hitler is elected after three fascist policies. Only three.
@@michaelreis9906 This is right. There was a discussion about this the last time I played. In my opinion, the indication on the board and the rules don't align. The board would suggest that the Chancellor-Hitler win occurs after the 4th policy is played, whereas the rules clearly say 3 or more.
