Alan King was great. My two favorite routines were the one about being admitted to the hospital for "complete exhaustion", a rich man's disease and when he read all the obituaries that included "survived by widow"
There never was and never will be anyone as good as Alan King. In spite of Piers Morgan who says Seinfeld is the god of comics. Good as Seinfeld is, he is no Alan King.
This is a great routine and I’m not saying anything except great comedy minds think alike. Bill Cosby (What he did was unforgivable, but once upon a time he was funny as hell) had a bit long ago about being in surgery under a local anesthetic (fully awake) and hearing the surgeon say “oops”. “What do you mean OOPS!”
Well, it's a matter of taste which is NOT to say I don't appreciate Carlin. King was a monologist and a social commentator in a very different sense then Carlin. It isn't fair of me to state that one of the truly talented is better than another. They're different. Mason, used to like him when we could understand what he was saying. But I still maintain nobody actually better than King. But that's just an opinion. I also think Ch. Callas is king of all of them. And then there's Tim Conway.
He is one of the best comedians ever!
Saw him for the first time on, the Golden girls...😅
Top 10 of ALL TIME
God he is missed. Absolutely brilliant!

survived by the wife was always my dad's favorite.
What a great comedian he was. Brilliant.
A GIANT.
My favorite comedian
Alan King: we miss you!

What a legend.
A class act. I'd never heard him swear before on stage.
