TH-cam recommended this video to me, I have been watching a lot of S&W Bodyguard 2.0 videos, so it make sense.👍 I have been keeping my eye out for a pocket pistol for a while now and every time I was in my local tool store, I kept fondling the Ruger LCP Max and could never take a liking to the way it felt. Well, last Tuesday I held the S&W Bodyguard 2.0 and it came home with me.😁 I took a poke around your content and subscribed, looks like interesting stuff.👊
I bought an LCP Max a few weeks ago. Shot it out of the box the same day. It's a much better shooter than the LCP II. But i still oredered and installed a Galloway short stroke trigger and the Hogue grip sleeve. Now it's my EDC.
I decided to go with the LPC Max also my hands are weak and I cannot pull the slide on that bodyguard so I went with the LPC Max is the trigger really bad like what’s the recoil like?
@@kristencarlbon4561I get the slide racking - the Max is hammer fired so easier. I have small hands but the Max is hard for me to grip (two fingers) and as a result I find it quite snappy to shoot. The bladed trigger sometimes hurts my finger. Love it for its size, weight, capacity and sights, but am looking forward to trying the BG. The Max is not a fun pistol for me to shoot.
Thanks for the review. I’ve had the LCP Max for 1.5 years. I did upgrade the trigger. Never had a malfunction, and I have shot every kind of ammo through it. I’ve had the 2.0 for 2 weeks now. 200 rounds. No issues at all. The 2.0 is easier to shoot, no doubt. The 2.0 will be my deep concealed weapon going forward.
I had the same 75th Anniversary Ruger LCP Max with a Hogue grip and Mcarbo guide rod and spring. It was not fun to shoot, so I purchased the Bodyguard 2.0 and sold the Ruger the next day. The difference is like night and day.
Lcp max my mouse gun❤❤❤...lots of problems with that bg 2.0 like FTF...picky on ammo...and sometimes slide doesn't lock when empty...never had any issues with my lcp max... I got the blue cerokote joint with over 1000 rounds... Smith&Wesson trying to put this gun on top so bad by talking down on the lcp max but it still king of 380s in my book...yes sir
Nice review. I like seeing different people reviewing firearms. Yeah, you can go to the big ones, but more is always better. Never really liked my LCP Max. I put a probably 300-325 rounds through it in close to 2 years. The BG2.0, that’s different. I’ve put 600 through it in the two weeks I’ve had it. My wife got to shoot it yesterday, I went down to my LGS, picked up one for her (TS model). I personally like the 10 round mag for carrying around. With the Max, I had to use the 12 rounder just to get an extra finger on it.
I traded my Ruger 380LCP max for the S&W 380 2.0 bodyguard. In every category or matrix, after experiencing both firearms, I much prefer the S&W 2.0 380 . Just my 2cents.
Thank you sir for the good honest review. I don't carry anything smaller than a 9mm, so I will not be getting either of these pistol. However, if I were to get a .380acp pistol, the Bodyguard is the obvious choice. Best regards.
I purchased the anniversary edition lcp max for $269. While the S&W 2.0 looks like a fine gun, I’ll still with my lcp max for now. Or until the 2.0 goes on sale.
Very honest review. Flench and viability of soft holsters make the bodyguard a clear winner to me. I have trained on my LCP MAX until I had a trigger finger callus. After the easy transition to the bodyguard I found myself starting to flench just picking up the Ruger. Low comfort shooting is a good trade for an EDC you actually do carry everyday, but the bodyguard-2 makes it not be a trade off. Do not underestimate the value of the safety. I will not carry the Ruger in a soft holster while chambered. The bodyguard - sure, thanks safety.
I may be one of the few people who actually enjoy shooting the LCP Max…but I also own and shoot a regular old LCP and it’s 10 times better to shoot than that. Picked up a Bodyguard 2.0 last week and can’t wait to take it to the range.
I have both, and like both have had the lcp max for about a year, ordered 12 rd mags for it, also carry the lcp max from time to time, had the bodyguard 2.0 for several weeks, will also carry it. I think both guns are of good quality it's mainly a matter of preference. The bodyguard is a fuzz bit larger than the lcp max. I give them both a 10 out of 10
I have been pocket carrying the LCP Max for a while. But I never cared to spend much range time with it because it just wasn’t comfortable. After watching numerous positive reviews I ordered the bodyguard a few days ago. I love my Shield plus and I bet I will enjoy the bodyguard as well
I own both. They are from different realms. It's like comparing a Porsche to a Kia. It all comes down to shootablility and comfort. All LCP models are snappy and somewhat painful to shoot. The BG 2.0 is like shooting a 22LR. If you are on the fence, get off of it and grab the Bodyguard 2.0.
I do own an LCP Max, but having carried various guns for over 35 years, I can't imagine carrying either one of these as anything other than a backup, regardless of the weather, compact to full size .38 Special or 9mm being my minimum. If you do carry one of these as a primary, then yes, you do want to put a lot of rounds through it regularly, and shooting comfort might become an issue after a hundred rounds or so. Otherwise, comparing "comfortability" is like comparing forks for comfort.
I have the same problem with my LCP Max. Not fun to shoot, trigger finger does get a sting. Shooting my Bodyguard 2.0 is very pleasant to shoot and don’t want to put it down. Can shoot all day with it. I have 300 plus in my Bodyguard
Not really a true highly concealable pocket rocket as the LCP Max. The BG is already experiencing ammo, feed issues and slide bite. The Max performs with 100% reliability.
100% for you not for everyone including myself my max took a good 500 rounds to become carry reliable..I'll wait to get a BG till the teething issues have been addressed but I will have one
According a couple shooters that I watch videos on when he did the first video on Ruger he admitted it was pretty snappy and now he done the one on the Smith& Wesson and he said it's a whole lot better than the Ruger as far as recoil but he didn't say that when he was comparing them because he got his both for free. He didn't really say it wasn't but he really didn't say that it was when he was doing the comparison. Either you know what they say. What you don't say sometimes is better than what you say. I wanted the Ruger when it came out and where I buy my guns from told me right out. It was very snappy and hard to hand or you'd have to get used to it. That's all I had to say about that
I’ve had some quirky things happen with my LCP MAX which prompted me to purchase the Bodyguard 2.0. LCP MAX: Trigger pull is RIDICULOUSLY hard. 6 to 7lb trigger was a no go. All my shots were down and to the left no matter what I did. Trigger bites the hell outta your finger. That loud audible boing yoing yoing sound it made was goofy. I MCARBO everything: trigger, hammer spring, trigger guide springs. Don’t preach to me about gun enhancements and court cases. If I have to defend myself and finally able to trust my firearm because OEM is NOT working properly and the other guy happens to live then I guess I’ll see their Swiss cheesed shot up ass in court💯. Bought a LASERMAX gripsense laser for it that was goofy as well. Laser would come on while in your pocket regardless of what you do even when powering off. When you took it out it would constantly be dead and 1/3N batteries are EXPENSIVE to keep replacing. Barely used the laser and it finally completely became INOPERABLE. Had to send it back to the factory for repairs. Once returned I sold it. I’m keeping the LCP MAX but way too many headaches and hopefully none of these occur with my Bodyguard 2.0 that I just got but haven’t shot it at the range as of yet.
@@indianasunsets5738 Yes. You exert so much energy trying to pull the trigger that no matter what you’re aiming at you’ll pull the sights off target by the time you pull the trigger. Folks will say “don’t limp wrist it,” “hold it harder,” “adjust and correct your finger placement,” BLAH BLAH BLAH. You’ll do ALL OF THAT and ALL your shots still won’t be accurate. MCARBO upgrades got it down to a 3lb-5lb trigger pull weight, no loud trigger noise, no more finger bite, less snappier with little to no recoil 💯
I agree the LCP Max trigger is too heavy for that small of a gun, and it also gives me trigger bite with every shot. It is inaccurate past 10 yards. Bodyguard 2.0 is on my shopping list.
I also have the lasermax and good luck making it keep zeroed 😂. It is often 1-2 feet of target and can be easily moved around. What a poor design. I only keep it because I have a great kydex for it. The trigger sucks less after mods, about 5lbs now. But still bites and training sucks after 50 rds or so. Will upgrade to bg2.0 when there's a rebate or promo.
The original BG does its particular pocket carry mission extremely well, very safely, if a person can learn to shoot it. Practice double action, break it in, and to 15 yards it will do it. Saying its crap downgraded the validity/experience of this reviewer.
I don't see how the accuracy is the same. The bodyguard has a 1 in 10 twist and the Ruger has a 1 and 16 twist and the 1 and 10 is a lot better for heavier ammunition and accuracy cuz it spins it faster so I don't see how there couldn't be a little bit of well. Actually a pretty good difference. I'm looking for one. I haven't found one yet and I will be putting a whole grip on it. I'm not sure a whole mixing them for it surely won't take them too long cuz I really rather have the rubbery feel. That's all I got to say about that. You have a good day. Be safe. Keep their powdered dry
Very good and informative review. Thank you!
