I personally think the actors did amazing, they sound great together. The Clark Sisters are unmatched and NOBODY can compare to them. Karen’s voice and vocal range is crazy and Twinkie is literally a musical genius she writes, plays, sing, and teach. Anybody that can blow like that sitting down can’t be put on a list or compared to anyone. Nice video
I believe the Clark sister's tight harmony is owed to the stressin of ONE voice to them from the beginning. Dr. Moss- Clark wouldn't settle for less. It is helpful that they were siblings and had a similar tone and timber. They are the best to do it!
I think the cast members have darker/heavier voices than the Clark Sisters. The main difference is the Clark Sisters sound like one voice, but they were singing together since childhood. It's almost impossible to replicate their blend.
@@deshaunx776 yup. If he had compared the it to that live performance in the movie (which has a movie concert in real life...iIt's all over TH-cam and I've owned it for about 25 years) it may have been the version they were going for.

You can SANG my brother! Yes, I used an A for SANG! This is great too! May God continue to bless you. I am a Clark Sisters SUPER FAN for 40+ years. When I was in college in Greensboro in the 80s, even the COGIC folk used to tease me about my obsession with them. I wore that album OUT back in summer of 82. I just thank the Lord that I got to meet and talk with the ladies and Dr. Clark a few times back in the day. So Thank You for such an insightful, informative, but most of all, RESPECTFUL analysis of this musical tribute to The Clark Sisters!
Not gonna lie, at first I was like "hmm, I'm not going to like this" but after sitting here long enough to hear you out, I LOVE THIS!! Subscribing!!! ❤
First of all, you have an incredible voice. I think that technology has a lot to do with the distinction of sound. The original Clark sisters were syrupy sweet. The cast had a full-bodied blend like black coffee - rich and premium. The Clark sisters in later years sound more like the actually cast with a heavier sound.
Cadmar Business Suite thank you! And technology could have played a role in it! I know that they were going for the sounds that were true to the recording(s) at the time they were originally recorded, not so mic the live versions we hear today.
Cant compare DNA & familiarity to an ensemble cast of strangers w/powerful "THOKES". BUT, all their voices will have you edges less. I actually enjoyed the Donald Lawrence version better, due to the clarity compared to a recording from the 80's & 90's. I would like a remastered version of their original albums.
It's good to remember that the original artists change and improve a song the more they perform it so the Clark Sisters songs sound more rich than their original recordings. I think the movie cast sounds like the Clark Sisters now (with the experience and vocal changes/maturity the Clark Sisters now have) moreso than the earlier recordings.
dorina is played by shelea frazier you should listen to her music. shes being singing since she was a little in bakersfield ca and she is just a sweet anointed young lady. get it she'she
I think Kierra’s voice is heavier than Karen’s so it changed to sound somewhat. It’s neither good nor bad but I noticed it. Kiki’s more of a spinto fach vs Karen who’s more lyric soprano. Both Karen and Denise had lyric voices so it made the Clark sound very different from other groups.
@@AustinnTheSingerr she's a pushed lyric..she pushes her voice to sound "stronger" which would make people think shes a spinto. Kierras voice Is actually set higher than Karen's if we're talking about belting. Karen uses her mix above e5 kierra uses mix at g#5 to A5
All accept Raven. She was the only one hired based solely on her acting and not for her singing abilities. It made a lot of fans angry bc the sister she played (Denise) was the high and crisp soprano that stands out so clearly in all the old recordings, so they felt like it was an insult for an actress that doesn't sing to be cast to play her.
They have the clark sound but it's more clearer and less vocal challenges they just sing their own parts and end it as they were directed to do but i still love it fr fr

Oakland, Ca Paramount Theater --The Clark Sisters: Legends of Gospel in Concert (1983) I love the cuts with all the sisters. You gave a thorough and beautiful analysis. Thank you!!
I think they sound exactly alike but there's a sense of maturity and a crispier sound with the cast and I think that's because the cast is one age, don't change, because it's a movie of course. So you have to look at the difference and the voices of The Clark Sisters songs, as they were growing into women if you took the adult cast 10 years ago and sing The Clark Sisters songs what would they sound like something to think about🤔 overall they sounded like them and the songs used in the movie what's the perfect fit for the cast to sound like them.
I think the only group that can touch them or come close as far as complexity is the male group Take 6, an a capella gospel group headed by one of the lead singers Claude McKnight, Brian McKnight's brother.
Take 6 is amazing however we cannot forget 2 male gospel groups that also gave that type of feel. One would be the Winans and the second is a group the Clark Sisters were paired with a few times, Commissioned...

What would u suggest for how to get over being tone deaf? I sing alto, I've been singing alto in the church for years. I can also sing tenor and second soprano. Usually if I'm singing in the choir, whoever I'm standing next to, I will start singing their part. For example if I'm supposed to be singing alto and I'm standing next to a tenor, instead of being able to maintain my alto part, I will start singing tenor, picking up the person's note who I'm standing next to. As it relates to my tone deafness, I can NEVER find my note and come in singing harmony or I can never find my note period, whether I'm trying to sing harmony or not. I would love ur feedback on how to fix my tone deaf problem and any other feedback u have for me based on what I've shared. Thank u soooo much!!!!!!!😃😇👍🤭🥱💥💫
Hey there! This isn’t as uncommon as one may think! I had a client with similar issues! The main things is EAR TRAINING. This thing can be worked on - though it may take a while to notice a difference. So for instance... find an easy song you know that has a choir part with harmony. Just take a part of the song (like the chorus or vamp) and sing all three parts one time through - so sing the soprano part, then go back, sing the alto etc. That’s something simple you can do... the more you do it, the more you’ll be able to hear and distinguish parts.
