@@TheBizzyBScience I dont have any 950 disks or images, so the only thing i could think to try was converting the 15k king disk to a 950 hxc image to test it out. Unfortunatley in pops up with a 'No Disk!' error. I'm going to see if I can get hold of a 950 floppy off a mate to try and convert. I chose 3000 disk type in the hxe software which works, so if there is compatability with the 950 and 3000, there must be a way to get them to work. I'll let you know if I find a good way to convert them!
Well this was very helpful. After my S900's drive has failed once again and disks are also slowly dying of aids, I've finally ordered a Gotek and made images of the ok discs.
hello great vid..don`t you have to have an old windows p.c. i.e XP with an INTERNAL drive to read these disks? ..i`m just about to start and convert all my samplers Akai s1000 / 2000 / 2800.. Emu V to this format and am a little unsure because there is so much conflicting info out there .. cheers Steve
I spoke to a well known producer from the 90s and he was recently looking to get all the samples off his floppies because he lost all the DATs and wants to remake the tunes. I told him to check out your TH-cam channel just the other day so this video is very well timed!
I have a Brother PDC100 sequencer that does not read or write anymore and i have many floppy disc that i have saved data on from it,can i convert these floppy disc to the HXC Emulator or some other format so the PDC100 floppy disc can be read on a PC or other sequencer?
I have not heard of this sequencer, but I think with some deep diving and experimentation with the config files and jumper settings you could find the correct settings. then rip your disks using onmiflop to img files and then to hfe format ( using goteks software ) good luck

Hi Brian. Your videos are very informative. I just got a hxc for my Akai S2000. With so many floppies images on the USB stick how do you manage/catalogue your samples? Also how do you save files that are larger than one floppy disk? I’ m also trying to figure out how to save Akai programs with the samples onto a floppy disk image. I can do this if I create the program on Akai Mesa and then save to the floppy hxc via the SCSI connection. I have a lot of Akai CDs however no SCSI CD drive. I can read the CDs via Chicken systems translator or Awave however cannot send the program to the sampler via SCSI, only the samples. Akai Mesa won’t read the CD as it doesn’t connect to virtual drives my PC. I’ve also tried this app at the bottom of this web site with some success however not all the time. I have a S3000XL and wondered if you have a link for the HXC Floppy Emulator that you would share so I know I'm getting the correct one please? This is the first time I'm working with this sampler after saving to upgrade everything, 2.0 OS on chip fitted, 32MB RAM fitted, EB-16 FX board fitted and the IB-304 Filter Board fitted. The only thing I'm waiting to find are the super rare FXM008 ROM Boards or the FMC001 ROM Boards. I've read through the Manual quite a few times now and just can't figure out how to keep S1000 Floppy samples loaded from Floppy, then choose the ones I like and load another floppy and choose ones I like on there and so on. I'm really confused. Do I have to save the ones I like to a new floppy after saving them as a program? It seems pointless having 32MB RAM and loading less than 2MB samples from a floppy and having to erase them from memory to load more to choose from. Am I correct in my understanding that the S1000 Floppy Samples are using the old AKAI mode rather then the new Multi mode in the S3000XL? I keep going round in circles. Is there any chance you could make a video showing how to keep the samples from a loaded floppy in the RAM so you can choose more from another please?
Really appreciate your videos mate. But at the same time it’s quite hard for me to watch considering my studio was robbed a few years back and they cleaned out all my hardware. I hope to start rebuilding my equipment. I switched to software 100% but it still doesn’t give me the same feel in my tracks like hardware did. Cheers.
They claim on the website usb to floppy drives won't work on windows 10 but I got one to work but 2 others didn't so it depends on the manufacturer and drovers but most probably don't work.
Love the tutorials, Just got an gotek usb floppy disk with the oled for my S3000XL yesterday, its up and running fine. I am using the HXC emulator software as well. But my S3000XL dont read the images. What am i missing in the process? S3000XL is running on the 1.5 OS, I have a image for the 2.0. Could some one help me out with a short explanation on why this is not working? I am using an Macbook air as well. Kind regards / Joel
@@TheBizzyBScience Thanks for the reply! they format are .hfe, i dont know if it has something to do with the usb? i just checked and the oled screen on the floppy usb reads flash floppy usb vol 2.14 and when i press the two small buttons on the gotek drive the oled screen reads reformat usb. thanks again

I was wondering if you know of any way to get samples of the hxc files from my s 950 so that ican edit them on the computer (naming, chopping etc, bulkprocessing) and gert them back into an hxc file so I can sample on the 950 edit on the computer and get them back to be played by the s950.
Tricky stuff the emulator.I'm at bed with some leg troubles but as soon I get better I'm going to experiment a little more.For now the protracker clone is my going.BIG UP B!

I've got the HXC for my 3000xl and 1100, but need some content and struggling to find anything to put on them, looking to go the winXP route and put some chopped breaks to disk like yourself.. maybe with SCSI, but I can't find recycle 1.7...so any tips bro hit me up... anyway for converting formats I've been using Awave studio.. it converts anything into everything virtually.
