LFG, if it makes you feel any better I had to wait about 4 hours for the wind to blow my boat across Lake Eufaula during a storm 2 weeks ago. Talk about nerve racking. Hoping my boat got to me before the pouring rain filled it up!

I've unfortunately gone swimming after a jon boat in 40 degree temps before. I'd have dived in head-first chasing a boat that nice.

I suggested completely covering the coup with chicken wire several times before. Glad you are going that route. Every place I and my family has visited with coups like yours have been completely covered that way. So cool to see Emmy out enjoying the snow and improving her vocabulary. I don't understand why more of LFG subscribers don't sub to LLF... Almost there. Can't wait for you to hit that mark to get the comments turned on. And for LFG to get to the 1,000,000 mark. God bless LLF !!!!! 🕊️🙏❤️🕊️🙏❤️🕊️🙏❤️From Philly 🥨🥨 🥨🍺🍺🍺👍👍😜

Once upon a time my girlfriend, now wife tossed my anchor down and said it was set. I was in the water spearfishing at a jet when all of a sudden I look up to see my boat about to run over me. I quickly climbed in and moved it away from the jetty. She somehow had untied the anchor rope from the boat and forgot to secure it back. I had to dive down and retrieve everything. She still tells the story to our kids. Oh the good old days of being young and durable. Carry on.

I built a garden cage the size of a chicken coop with $25 worth of wire fencing a few years ago. I ran out for the fourth wall, so I finished it with deer netting. Later that summer I saw where deer had tried to doze through the deer netting and it held tight. To be fair to them it was made of black plastic and they could not not see what was holding them back from bumper crop green beans, cukes, and other vegs. I made a door into it by sewing on the zippered doorway from an old unusuable tent. Keep those chickens safe, they are counting on you! By and by your yards will be beautiful. Good rope work, way to stay calm in an emergency.

It is situations like this where I am glad I have an Ulterra trolling motor. I have never used it to launch or had to use it to get my boat back but I could tell it to deploy and come back if needed.

  •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

I always have a 50 foot lead rope tied from the front of the boat to the trailer when launching by myself.
Back it in, float the boat off, pull the trailer out from under the floating boat, step out, pull the boat in, tie it off, go park the truck.
Worked great...right up until I backed it in just a little too fast. The boat floated back fast enough that it snapped the rope.
    That was a fun swim...in Michigan...in March.

That happened to me when my boat was new. Same kind of day, but the wind was blowing and I had to swim way out into the lake to catch my boat. Couldn't get in it, had to swim and pull the boat with my finger in the front ring! Thought I was going to drown. Just made it back to where I could touch the bottom with my big toe, then I knew I was ok. Ever since, I use a rope to hold the boat when I am launching it by myself.

For the Crispy Collector-Build an inverted-V shaped PVC Frame the length of the boat, attach with hinges to a 4x4 frame built from the ground at the end of the driveway, add tightly pulled tarp with grommets, lift frame/tarp, and park Crispy Collector underneath, lower frame/tarp and secure at the bow.

I know it wasnt funny to you but I was highly entertained. Long time ago a buddy and I put my jon boat on a river that had about 10 feet of 2 inch ice along the bank where we could launch. I backed the boat and trailer over near edge of river. We then eased off the trailer on to the ice where I thought it would break through. But it didnt, but figured after we boarded it surely would and we could hang over the front with a paddle and crack a path in the ice to open water. When I went to park the truck and trailer, my buddy decided to get in the boat. He bent over and grabbed the front of the boat and slipped pushing the boat out on the ice almost to the open water where the back 3 ft of boat was in river and rest on ice.. No way we could walk out on ice and only rope was in the boat tied to front. eventually the current pulled the boat on the slick ice right out in the current. then current pulled it around and down the river it started to float. There was a low bridge about 8 ft off the river and the boat would have to pass under it. We got to the bridge and as my boat approached I crawled down and hung by my hands over the river and when the boat passed under me I dropped about a foot into the boat, lowered the motor and pulled over to the bank and picked up my buddy and off we went. Young and stupid...never would I now hang off a bridge over 35 degree water and drop into a boat..., no way....,

😂 U got way luckier than I did though! My boat floated to the middle of the creek with the outboard still running.😂 Then I had 3 other people pull in the beginning of the creek then turn around, so I couldn’t get them to help me. Eventually I said forget it and swam for it. I’m glad it was summertime though. Welcome to the club!😂😂😂

I can’t remember exactly how but my grandpa always kept a rope tied to where the winch hooks on the front of the boat and then tied off to the trailer but with enough slack to get it off the trailer and then he would climb back and untie her and tie her up to the dock at least that’s how I remember it being until I was old enough to hold the rope

Use the black plastic safety fence for the chicken coop enclosure. The chicken wire will rust out in a couple years and develop easy access holes for critters. Or better yet, use the same welded wire on top that you have on the sides, she'd be bullet proof then.

No it doesn't. My father has had a radio under his coupe for years. He hasent had a problem with wildlife since. He did that after he found one of his ducks heads ripped off. The constant sound of a talk show makes it seem like there is always someone always there. With wild animals not liking bein around humans or sound. It works very well.

If you want to keep the water from pooling up on your boat cover... use 1/2 inch pvc to make arches to create a raised cover. The water will roll off and not pool up. Each arch made of 2 T fittings and 1 straight piece trimmed to desired length for height T fitting on each end with 6” feet to each side. Works great.
