Cheers for the update! Kudos to the guy behind you at 1:38 who decided he didn't fancy taking the plane so he whipped out his pocket teleporter instead.
Thanks for the update. I am subscribed because I feel this case should have some significant ramifications. Your reporting is the clearest, undramatic version available. I hope your trip was a great success.
Dragging it out so they're not convicted before Christmas. Seen it dozens of times in the past. As others have said, the next one will be the "mental health" card. What I really want to know, is who put them up to it but now, will have to wait until next year for this all to unfold.
Apparently Walter Renwick threatened to chop it down to locals in a pub because of his tenancy dispute then it happened. If that is true, I reckon he's got them to do it but have the police even made the connection as they quickly put this investigation together for the benefit of their own reputation?
@@bakedbeans9546His dispute was with the Bible bashers that own the property not the National Trust I think people are just looking for a motive . I guess it will all come out in the wash
@@Ditcha1 I wonder why anyone would actually want to cut down that specific tree, however depraved they were? It just doesn't seem like they'd get anything out of it.
@@bakedbeans9546 Just you mentioned Walter his beef was with the church not the NT so why would he want the tree felled ? . Poor blokes lost his family home .
Twenty five years ago back when I was young and (very) stupid I’m ashamed to say I ended up with an 8 month sentence. So I understand the mental panic/distress of thinking you’re definitely going to prison and trying to think of ANY WAY of getting around it, however you can’t run from it. Just take responsibility for your idiotic behaviour and get it over with. Putting it off like this is a bad idea.
PS - since then I went back to education as a mature student, gained a degree and started up my own business. Honest money helps you sleep better at night. So prison does work for some people. I never stepped foot in one again and can still smell that plastic tray of rubbery macaroni cheese to this day! 😂😂
It is possible that he is innocent and the other one did it by himself or with some unknown third party. It might be more about the vilification he is getting publicly than the actual punishment that caused him to end up in hospital.
Thanks for taking time out of your journey for the update on this. Go enjoy your trip with Helen, hope you both have a lovely time celebrating her Birthday. 👍
I actually hope they exhaust all avenues they can before they get to court, the judge will take all of this into account when sentencing them. One thing the criminal courts do not like is people wasting their time at the public's expense.
Thanks for the update. Enjoy your break....Amsterdam is lovely. By the way does your wife know you can have a tour of a diamond factory there? Just saying...it is her birthday 😁
As Daniel Graham has stated he's innocent, i would have expected him to be keen to clear his name in court asap.....unless there is a genuine serious health reason. What did not help their case was the defendants wearing identical black balaclavas and dark glasses and walking together in an arrogant manner through the streets. ...what sort of "innocent" person attends court hiding their face in a mask, dark glasses and balaclavar??
Really appreciate your update. I don't know how I feel about the fella being ill. I hope he's not lying to postpone the case, but on the other hand, I wouldn't like to think it was something that could be life threatening. He deserves to be punished if it is proven that he did it, but I'd not feel good if it were his mental healt, and he tried to top himself.
He can be tried in his absence, not a problem. I'm sure then next 'attempt' will be mental health, either to prevent the trial or used as a reason why the claim was committed...... SOP of defence lawyers now.
Mental health doesn't matter unless you're chronically unwell and lacking capacity. Nearly every person in the dock will have some mental health issues In fact, you'd be a minority if you didn't have a MH issue
He CAN be tried in Absentia but his barrister could argue that he would not then be able to give evidence. He'll get away with postponing it for now but there will come a point were the judge will order the trial to go ahead with or without him. 👍

What cop out. Mentally ill ? My arse. One bloke - maybe, two blokes, it was planned ! Suffer the consequences. I bet their lawyer has told them to plead this.
Hi Eddie, I've just been up to sycamore gap today (10th December) with a walking group I'm I'm, at about 12:15 we came across a reporter from the Daily Mail, He'd came up yesterday for the trail but as it was postponed he was on the wall asking people's opinion about what happened, so it's getting uk coverage
And has been pointed out already, 1:38 with lurking bloke beaming himself up. It made me piss myself! I hope this doesn't make me appear to be a bad man.
Have I missed something in earlier videos. The tree grew near Carlisle, the two involved reside near Carlisle, the beaten suspect is in a Carlisle hospital and the police investigating are based in Carlisle. So why are the legal proceedings occurring in a Newcastle court, and not in a Carlisle one.
Sycamore gap is in Northumberland and therefore in Northumbria Police’s jurisdiction. And investigated by Northumbria police, not Cumbria police. That’s why it’s at Newcastle Crown Court. Nobody has said DG has been beaten
@@TynesideLife Your right, beaten was my word. It's inadequate a term anyway, as it does not cover the full range of possible injuries, and requires a second person to do the beating (I think, based on what I have read for the definition of the word), so excludes self-inflicted injuries. It also excludes other possibilities. So I'll use the terms from the previous video - the victim of the critical incident is a patient of a Carlisle hospital. Why don't I just use his name. I'm not comfortable with that as he may genuinely be innocent.
Hiya, I just wondered if he really is ill, or is it a delaying tactic, do you know the nature of his illness at all or heard any rumours or speculation at all? I cannot believe that this piece of news is not in the mainstream, thankyou very much indeed for the update, I value your time and effort, I hope you enjoy good old Amsterdam, I have just subscribed, I don’t want to miss the updates all the best from Norman in 🏴
He was critically ill in intensive care about a week ago. It looks like it was a suicide attempt. So he probably isn't physically able to be brought before the court. He may even have sustained issues that will make him not able to stand trial at all (just a possibility, I have no inside knowledge).
Cheers for the update!
