But, in a real pawn shop they're not going to get an expert over to find out a verified evaluation for free. In a regular pawn down the street from the liquor store they'll offer you $500 for this after you said you wanted $750 and then when you leave they'll call an expert. These guys are pretty good guys.

The experts are notified by the producers of the show / shop with pictures and occasionally name so they know the topic and can do research on it. They film the evaluation and negotiation. So it's more like you know the topic and have point notes of what's going to happen, but not acted out by professionals. (As explained by Rebecca, one of the rare book dealers / experts)

To find a Dark Ages helmet that may even predate Islam in that kind of condition is virtually unheard of. I mean, think about it. England didn't even exist as we know it today when that helmet was worn.
Anglo saxon relics are very rare and priceless. Rick could easily sell it to a collector that is looking for saxon treasure. And they will pay up handsomely for it. I wouldnt be shocked if he gets 20,000 or more for that helmet.

I live in England and finds like this are rare, so rare. Unbelievably rare. Something like this should be traced back to the owner to perchanced such a thing. Even 80 years ago this, if real, would have been a big price. And the seller in England would have a paper trail as to where it was found. I mean, this would have come from a warrior. The grave would have remains of a shield and spear etc. So where are the rest? It's too good to be true.
