The Custom Cash card is becoming one of their most popular cards to have outside of the co-branded AA cards. Aye Chase Brodie 👊🏽 great vid as always brother
I have to disagree on the 0.8 cents per point valuation. If you have the Rewards+ card, then your numbers are correct. But I have the Premier card, and I can tell you the cash back rate on Premier is 1.0 cents per point. Then you have the travel partners redemption including Choice Hotels at a 1:2 redemption rate which is around 2.0 cents per point. So unless you make a bad decision to redeem them for less and get gift cards or something, the valuation is easily greater than 1.0 because you will never be below that. Personally I'd value it between 1.2-1.5 cents per point for Premier.
That is my fault. I was basing it off of the Rewards + card and not including the two other top tier cards. I should've included the value of the redemption options with those 2 cards since that is how Chase points are calculated as well with the CSP, CSR or Chase Ink Preferred. Thank you for brining that up Ramon. 🔥 And I appreciate you commenting/replying in my other videos as well 🙏🏽
This was a great breakdown! I just recently got the Citi custom cash and I’ve enjoyed it so far. Definitely a really flexible card. I feel like the premier card is a pretty good card, but once you build out a card portfolio from different lenders, you can generally get more than 3x back in each of those categories, and since I’m a big chase fan, I tend to go with those. I’m hoping to get the Amex gold next which will round out my overall portfolio to where I get at least 4 points back on every purchase in my main categories. Thanks for the video chase!
Ya Citi cards are great especially for beginners , but like you said people usually gravitate to Chase and Amex anyway 🤷🏽♂️ Thank you Spencer! 🔥 Congrats on the custom cash btw!
I’m working on getting the citi trifecta right now, some important points is that you need the premiere card to get the one to one Point transfers, and you can get some pretty high multipliers when transferred to travel partners in my experience… it’s not necessarily luxury travel, but then again I’m a college student 🤷🏻♂️choice hotels Can also be a bit hit or miss sometimes, but it’s generally good
Thats nice to hear Miguel 👏🏽 Thank you for sharing! Im glad it sounds like u are killing the credit card game and you are still in college! You really are making the most value out of them 🔥 Thank you for watching 🤙🏽
I have the Citi Premier and Double Cash. I may get the Custom Cash later, just not a priority right now. The cool thing after the Double Cash refresh to earning ThankYou points is, if you hold both of these cards you can not only use the travel benefit or transfer partners with the Premier, you can also cash out your Premier points for cash back as a staement credit at 1:1. So if you already have the Double Cash and get the Premier which has a 80,000 point offer at this time. You can turn that bonus into $800 cash as soon as you meet the minimum spend. Citi has really turned thier Trifecta into the ultimate cash back set up if you play the system this way. 3X on all those great catagories including Gas, then turn it all back into cash. I will probably use mine like this till the points are all gone, but it's a great strat for newbies in the Credit Card game.
I have Premier and will probably add Double Cash in the near future. I chose this setup over Chase because the points earnings are so much faster that even the 1.25 CSP boost isn't going to make up for it because Chase has terrible multipliers for everyday spending. Plus the card doesn't tie you down to using their travel portal the way Chase does. It's sometimes best to not use the travel portal and just take the cash, and Citi is better for that.
Thank you for sharing Colt 🔥 Glad to hear you are taking full advantage of those Citi cards. Looks like I have to start getting more involved with Citi cards. I appreciate you watching 🙏🏽
One thing I notice is that even though Chase puts the word Freedom on their cards, the Citi trifecta actually gives you more freedom. The Chase strategy focuses on their travel portal or your rewards are small. Except for the annual hotel credit, Citi gives you the same rewards regardless of whether you use the portal. That means you can book a hotel directly, possibly get better rates, and collect loyalty points at the same time. I realize you can do the same thing with Chase and it's probably a good strategy, but you have to overcome the fact that you are sacrificing UR points to do it.
I don’t like that they don’t have the same protections as chase, not having any travel or rental protections made me switch. I do use the Costco card exclusively at gas stations and Costco still.
I applied on Friday for the Custom cash card and it stayed a pending status but waited until today Tuesday and no new update from Citi and then I google the application line to call and when I got finally so I called in told the representative that my application it’s says a pending and she double verify my personal information and put me in wait status two times and the in the last moment when she came back she told that congratulations you were approved for the Citibank credit card with a limit of $8,600 and with a APR 26.99% and they pull my Equifax report and in the time of the inquiry I had a score of 702 so I got very excited 😂 and emotionally also because more than 10 to 15 years that I don’t have a Citi credit card. Very lovely!!!
You probably don't need the Premier if you're wanting cash back. If you travel, Premier will give you access to points transfer to travel partners and the hotel credit could potentially pay for the annual fee, so if you travel you should definitely get it.
If you are trying to travel and get points to use for transfer partners then the Premier will come in handy 🛩️ the good news is that most of those cards have no annual fee so you could keep them open without any real consequences 👍🏽 Thank you for watching Melody 🤙🏽
Your 0.8 cents per point valuation differs way too dramatically from The Points guy's 1.7 cents. Why the huge discrepancy? I've noticed that with membership or ultimate rewards even their somewhat optimistic valuation at 2 cpp people can at least give those a minimum of 1.5 cents. But you are way different with Citi.
I was basing it off of the redemption options solely from the Citi Rewards+ redemption options. I should've included the other redemption values from cards like the Premier and Prestige. Thank you for bringing this up 😌 I appreciate you for watching and commenting. 🙏🏽
It's 0.5 if you have a lower tier card like Rewards+. It's 1.0 if you have a better card like Premier which I actually have so I know that for a fact. I also think you'll get that same cash redemption but DC and CC, but I don't have those right now.
I’m not impressed! Tried Double Cash which was okay! Trying Custom Cash and so far rewards are confusing and Grocery is specified as Merchandise? Really don’t know what is going on and there communication is terrible! Ready to ditch this card too!
I look at this way. Lost luggage? The airline has insurance and you're going to talk to them first. Roadside Assistance? My car insurance covers it. Rental Car Collision? My car insurance covers that too. The rent-a-car companies are basically scamming people by offering it. Trip cancellation? That might be worth something, but is it enough? It often comes with your booking but sometimes it's an extra fee.
@@TheAudioCzar just curious. What does Chase do when a flight is delayed or cancelled? That's happened to me too. I usually end up getting on another flight and arriving late. One time I had to stay at a hotel overnight but the airline paid for it. How would it be different with Chase? Would they pay you something for the lost time?
@@TheAudioCzar in that case there's probably a legitimate use for it if the airline doesn't pay for it. I've been on plenty of flights and had my share of late flights and cancellations. I never lost money directly as far as I can remember, but if I did, I'd certainly be ticked off about it. I am still considering Chase at some point when I'm free of 5/24, but I know I'll want other cards for gas and groceries. That's the one thing I think they need to improve.
DO NOT GET CITI CREDIT CARD! Citi credit card will continues to charges you interested after you closed your account. The fk up part's they don't even tell you during closing your accounts, they just continues to add and add charges!

Good cashback, great private banking, famously horrible customer service for non-private. Also, poor purchase protections and insurances.

Good choice Doc! 👍🏽 Especially after you get those Chase cards 🤙🏽 Thank you for always watching. I appreciate it.
Jamie Dimon just called me and asked “ Why is my son Chase talking about Citibank”? 🤣
😂 I have to cover all of the bases 😂
I don't know, I like the name "Thank You Points". It's simple, but meaningful.
You're right. It could definitely be worse. 🤷🏼♂️
Which is better citi card double cash or custom cash card
I really like the flexibility of the custom cash card.
The Citi Prestige card is one of best cards that I have (15 total)... I was fortunate to have gotten it while it was still available!
- i hope the bring it back or some version of it
