Love to explore old towns and buildings. Great history. When you said, there's the old smelter, I thought you were talking about Craig. 😆 Just kidding 😂 😜 🤪
Nice vid. Inside the fence is a no no :). I used to explore when I was younger many years ago. I was fascinated by the old newspapers they used as wallpaper. What's even better is hunting deep in Gene Rush WMA and coming across old homesteads there, rock foundations, root cellars etc. Always look for fruit trees in the deep woods, dead giveaway there was a homestead close by. Ive seen caves and old barrel rings with the barrel wood rotted away. Stories and history to imagine... No telling what I missed. I truly miss my Arkansas, my great greats came from there. Hope to go back soon. Thank you guys for this. Well done
We passed this place years ago after a kayaking trip but didn't have time to go through there. I'm glad y'all showed it. I've always been curious about what was back there.
Yeah spoiler alert we were supposed to do a kayaking trip down the Buffalo but the weather changed our plans. We found out later, we would have kayaked by this area. It's really cool history! We didn't walk up and see the mines due to my knee, but it was still interesting! Thanks for watching!
Ahhhh thanks so much!!! We absolutely love Arkansas!!! If our parents, children, and grand babies weren’t all in Texas, we would probably move to Arkansas!!! It’s so beautiful!!! Thanks so much for watching!!!
Do you have power and water? Can we send you anything? We have a 7500 watt generator. And I actually lived in Carrollton outside of Dallas while working at the Old San Francisco Steakhouse when it first opened in the late 70's.
@@jethro83100 that’s very generous of you! We actually faired very well. We never lost power or water. Our grown children were affected; however we were able to provide them with the needed assistance. We ended up being connected to the same power as the local hospital 😃!
@@texashikeaholicsadventures That's great. My wife and I know all about "grown children", we have 6 ranging from 42 to 7, the last being adopted at 2 months old. Great visiting with you but I think I probably ought to leave you alone so you won't think Arkansans are really creepy lol.
I hate to see all that wasted real estate. But whatever. The vegetation is super green. Çan you remember what the temperature was there? Was it sweaty?
I know. I always hate to see abandoned buildings. It always makes me think, when it was built, it was someone's dream. The weather was pretty hot and humid. This was during the week of 4th of July. We had to plan our hikes for early morning and late afternoon to avoid melting. LOL. Thanks for watching!!
Does anyone know if the house Fate Hand lived in and if it is still standing? I have a lot of Lack cousins in Arkansas and Texas. Helen Lack was married to my Fathers step-brother.

We're planning on going there in a few days. How long are the trails? My health isn't the best and only so much walking I can do.
Nice!!! I can’t remember exactly on the length but I think it was like 3 miles total. We only toured the old townsite. Have fun!!
@@texashikeaholicsadventures ok cool, I appreciate the reply, thank you!
