It wasn't true, it was probably Doc trying to convince Paul that there were no labs.
This game gives me the impression of a game that crashed mid way through development and could have been something amazing, but was forced to work with what they had left.
And judging by the fact the person who originally had the idea passed away, if my impression is correct, I can see what the story was. Which is beyond sad, a game that could be amazing, but failed because the person with vision for it passed away too soon.
Again if I'm right, than it's pretty good for what scraps they had left of, just not what was promised.
This is probably going to be my "what if" games, where I wonder if he didn't pass away what the game could have looked like. This might be a game waiting for a spiritual revision.

Fr, I watched jacks vids before this and they had very different play thrus. Ryan tried to save when he could, while jack always killed.
Fun fact: An NDA cannot keep you from telling the law about illegal doings. That said, the protagonist sent a brick of (Spoilers from here on) presumably human meat, so he can completely pretend like everything is A-okay when morning comes, then haul ass to the PD with the brick.
It looks good, but very clearly needs some work. Even disregarding the apparent stability issues Ryan was having, you also have a lot of little things like the game not explaining how to save the animals or the mouth movement not matching the voicelines
The lipsync issues don't bother me since many games just move the mouth with 0 relation to the audio,but the pacing/escalation does need a rework.
It'd help if he wasn't doing the youtuber thing and ignoring text. The game actually clues you in on what to do you just have to be paying attention. For instance the drug making screen if you look at the descriptions on the various drugs you will notice half of them say "Mimicking X". That's a clue that you need to pay attention to what sickness the animal has the symptoms of before it turns and then use the appropriate mimic drug on the one that turned. The core mechanic is literally using your observation skills to diagnose the animals, so ignoring text is basically shooting yourself in the foot. But this is a game designed to be replayed multiple times, so failing isn't necessarily a bad thing. Game definitely needs ALOT of bug fixing though.
@@Zarkyun you're not wrong about that, but if you also noticed, he got caught up on the collectible log saying that one variation of the mimic drug cured the parasites, which made him think it worked on all parasites. That is something they should change since if Ryan, someone who plays these types of games a lot, gets tripped up on something stupid like that, then something needs to change.
@@Zarkyun Problem also is that you don't get previous knowing of what a MIMIC X is and what a NORMAL X is,you won't waste resources on making both if you don't know about them and the first time Ryan encountered a mutated animal(Gorilla),he had not collected the PDA/had payed 0 attention to the PDA talking about how they mimic other illnesses.

Okay, hold on - there are more animal enclosures to visit, but the game ends halfway? Firstly, from all the hype around the trailer I thought this game would be much more "open" and, tbh, longer? As many other commenters point it out, it seems unfinished, the animations are janky, the voice acting sounds flat (maybe AI?), everything feels unpolished and the actual mutated animals are underwhelming. I was imagining having to hide from them, them leaving the enclosures and going wherever, you having to figure out which one is infected *before* it transforms (like The Thing).
But this ... man, I was so looking forward to it, but this isn't it. I don't know how Ryan does it, but I would not have had the patience with this buggy, unpolished mess of a game. Kudos to him for making this entertaining!

That entire end sequence had to be the worst thing I've ever seen in a game, within a minute Doc just shows up, opens the mother enclosure even though he has literally zero protection, there's a random guy lying there, Sarah knocks him out with the softest pistol whip I've ever seen, but not before her legs clip through the tracks, she says "this is for CJ" even though I was under the impression CJ was the one who got her kidnapped, then just stands there next to the body, until mother finally decides to grab everyone in the vicinity before the game cuts to nothing. Insanely disappointing.

The parasite one is definitely an oversight though.

I was super excited for this game when i saw the trailer, but... it feels undercooked. Feels like a demo, almost.
The gameplay mechanics are interesting and well-done, but the dialogue feels super stale, the lines are said with little to no emotion, and the models just.. move wrong, mainly when they're speaking - (It's also especially noticeable in the ending, where it ends up just looking like a goofy gmod animation). The fights are super underwhelming, and there's not even risk of death in them, you're just hoping it doesn't go after the other animals as you shoot the monster.
Judging by how big the medicine system is and how many more animals there are, it's hard to believe they made all of this with the intention of making it last 1 hour or so.
So while i don't really know what happened in there, i definetely think they rushed to release the game, which is sad to see, especially with how promising the original concept was.
Edit: I noticed a lot of people in other comments are pointing out how some of the dialogue feels like it's AI generated. I'm not completely sure about it, as some of doc's dialogue does have inflections (such as little laughs and such) you wouldn't expect from an AI voice, but it is definetely possible they used some. AI or not, some things in this game are just low effort and would've taken just a little bit more playtesting to fix.

@@emperordalek102I think saying this is as bad as the day before is a bit disingenuous. While zoochosis has some considerable problems, i wouldn't outright call it a scam. The part up to when you start meeting the parasites is actually not bad. The problem is that it's just super underwhelming compared to what we expected and definitely was rushed to release..
@@D3niz3nAh, that's sad.. This game really doesn't feel like just some slop horror for youtubers made in two days, but sadly they only got to finish 40% of the concepts they had in mind, so it came out super wonky..
I think what happened was that you were able to make a choice between giving your wife food or not giving her food, but the game bugged and did both dialogues for the option

I just got to that part. I was thinking they re-recorded the line and forgot to take out the first one, cause the first one Doc just drops the Mother line right away and in the second one it comes more naturally mid conversation like he slipped up and mentioned The Mother mid talk. Also the second version has the main character get upset over grinding up a person and mentions how suspicious the places seemed before which seems more natural, to me, then his first set of dialog.
But it being the result of giving the meat or not would almost make sense. 😅 Hard to tell with this game.
I can't be the only who feel like they took their inspiration from the Happy Meat Farm ARG mid-development. I mean "the Mother", the big tentacle thing who must be fed at the end...come on.
I thought the same thing! Whenever they mentioned "Mother" I immediately thought of Happy Meat Farm - and when at the end it turned out to be this being they were feeding it felt just too much to be a coincidence.

ironically i thought it was gonna be much worse. I remember the trailer for the game showing you cutting meat slabs and a parasite coming out of it. i was worried he sent them home with infected meat.
Honestly, coming from the comments and trailers , I thought we were there to save as much animals as we could from the incoming virus/thing issue. I feel that would’ve been a more interesting premise. Like imagine having to save a lion or hyena that you personally raised from this virus/thing plague that’s destroying the zoo and the animal defending you from the monsters in turn.
Considering these monsters can rip gorilla's in half, i dont think a lion is going to do much lmao

Obviously this game was sadly not finished in terms of screenwriting, the script, and the overall pacing of the whole thing due to Alexander Dagan passing. It's unfortunate because the game as a concept was very interesting, rest in peace, Alexander. 😔

I agree that its a bit weird, but in my intepertation, I think it was meant as things like scientists on other branches that regards to the situation on the zoo (zooologists technically are scientists, but they dont go around mutating and crud)
Oh cool. I’ve been waiting for this game to drop for like half a year now. Seeing the animals in these terrible situations makes me sad though, especially the giraffe.

I am. Everyone thought this game was going to be like The Thing and we would smartly have to figure out which animals were monsters and how to survive from them. Instead we got... whatever this is.

It has a great concept and story, but 25 bucks isn't worth it in its current state unless it gets some _major_ polishing.
The fact that Ryan takes notes instead of trying to remember things and then being all confused about what the code/password, is so refreshing cuz i keep seeing people just try to remember things and then raging over it
Man, I almost forgot abt the bodycam Paul had until after finishing the video. Was wondering how a certain someone knew about certain interactions when he wasnt around
Was really excited for this game, and honestly still love the concept, vibe, and art direction but..... man, its really weird and disappointing how it took a whole 45 minutes into Ryan's playthrough in order for anything to happen (which is pretty bad considering that's half the game's runtime) and when things did start popping off there were zero hints as to what to do gameplay-wise and almost no lore explanation for it either

@@mephilesthelight4644 Yeah they should make the game longer, like adding a one week contract and having to sleep in a dortroom so endings and gameplay are shown slowly the more days you're in. With more days you can also see every enclosures atleast once. I just hope the game isn't dead and it will get patches

Well... I thought it's gonna be much better ngl. I was looking for survival, not lore game mostly in this. Then we got 40 minutes of talking etc. not getting everything explained then gg do what you have to do - decide
Same. It was building up to be like The Thing. We thought we would have to be strategic and smart to figure out which animals were fake and how to survive from them. But nah, all of that got wasted.
They could have made like really something out of the game, especially with the parasite concept or just mutants. But I don't know if the game turned out like it did now, because of the screenwriter sadly passing away.

To be fair, I really expected this given how cinematic and repetitive some of the trailers were... and for this kind of genre. Too much to go wrong, too little in gameplay shown. Not gonna lie, I still want to see this story and go through some of the tense motions, but between the bugs and how rigid it seems, not to mention the baited setup... all leaves a sour taste to go spent $20+ on it when there's so many other good games out. It'll be on a steep sale sooner than most, the betrayed feeling is going around pretty hard.

The cutscenes felt very unnatural, the dialogue would sometimes just feel soooo unnatural, almost like two AIs talking to each other. Which begs the question? Is the game voice acted?
I like the monster designs and I also quite like the idea of non linear progression through the game, but like Ryan said, the pacing is not it. Man got into a boss fight without knowing what a mutant looked like, accidentally fighting the wrong gorilla 💀
All in all, this wasn't a very good first impression for me

The animal’s not doing much in the fights does seem underwhelming, but the stress they add balances it out i think
but yea it’s definitely pretty jank, but more in a kinda funny way that a game breaking way imo

I hope this raises awareness that this is based on a true animal disease and an indication of poor animal welfare in zoos. The reason why tigers pace and why elephants sway.

Technically a disease afaik, but specifically a mental illness from what I've heard, basically I think it's kinda what happens to humans placed in solitary confinement and it can be REALLY bad, like animals can and will harm themselves in some cases and can probably harm others if it's bad enough. Luckily the real life zoochosis doesn't mutate animals into these horrifying things though, but I won't be surprised if some people have/will find out about the real life thing through trying to Google this game. That'll be an interesting and hopefully enlightening result of this game's release (and maybe it'll convice one or two people to stop keeping large dogs in small apartments, though one can only hope, even poor fish kept in bowls get this too)
They have to fix all of these bugs before launch date. And fix the lack of atmosphere. For Alexander.
There is so much needing to be fixed in this game. It almost feels like they poorly stitched together Alexander's plot points and ideas and rushed the release for some reason. It's sad and I really hope they manage to fix this mess and pay justice to Alexander's story.
Finally a TH-camr I like playing this. I’m scared yet very excited.

I hope they continue to work on the game and update it in the future, it's playable but it does need some polishing, I know they had lost the screenwriter, and the game seems rushed, but I hope they continue to put more love into it on their behalf.

We waited so long for the game and I rlly like the story in some places but I don't think it rlly lived up to what it should've been. It's way too fast paced despite having 8 enclosures, which I guess is another route, clearly very buggy in some spots, scratchy voice acting, and doesn't rlly tell you how to actually complete objectives certain objectives. Also from the looks of this ending Paul will likely die in every ending which sucks
I think they should update this game, adding like more days and you unlock new enclosures. Like a contract of 1 week so you have to sleep in a dortroom and stuff and not putting everything on one night

When you were dealing with the infected gorilla... I realized it said "Animal blood" not gorilla blood. You could've just went to a diff enclosure.
You can't leave the enclosure you're in until all tasks are finished
This game reminds me of the Thing, it's all normal until a damn parasite infects and takes over!
For people who keep saying this game is bad keep in mind that this is a early version of the game and it is not fully released yet which means it will not be 100% finished because as I and Ryan said it is an early copy of the game thank you

I’ve been following this game since it was first announced, and compared it to Metroid Fusion.
Ryans right the pacing is all over the place, why would you they show their hand so fast and have the first meat order youre supposed to do be a human?? It makes way more sense to build up to that like they did in Bioshock with the "would you kindly" requests. Also ive seen from other videos that apparently you dont even get to see the animals morph, theres just static and then boom theyre mutants. Its so lazy and disappointing and i dont know if itd even be worth it for ryan to try and get the other endings at this point. Its bugged to hell and frankly the endings all kind of suck. 😕

This is so hype, I’ve been waiting for so long for this game
The game is pretty underwhelming. I'm very annoyed that the developers, use such cliche concepts to such an interesting game idea.
So you got RE parasites, you're also infected. Evil corpo. Snarky journalist. Cheap horror. This mother entity, heavily feel like the TH-cam horror Spongebob guy. People are meat, because oh boy, the journalist are investigating the evil corpo!
This could've been like you are an investigative scientist or something. Reports comes in that zoo animals are acting weird. The zoo is quarantined and closed.
Down the line you need to learn and investigate that the animals are acting weird. So you need to find clues in their behavior, the tools you have in order to track down this Things. As you break down on each encloser the animals becomes harder to find and beat. Like a tiger mutant hunting you instead, or an elephant being heavily armored.
I think the zoo keeper stuff like petting the animals, feeding them, is cool. But you're telling me that this game just went 20 to 1000 like the gorilla situation. The mutant ai is poor at most too. No gradual change for the player to understand. So sad.
It feels like the game reveals to much too fast, i wouldve definitely liked a longer game where youtubers would be able to create multiple parts, i think they focused to much on visuals of the animals and took a quick glance at all other factors of the game and said "good enough"

i hope they fix their game. it seems so cool, i really love the idea but so much about it feels smashed together as quick as possible
The game looks great the gameplay looks decent and the character design is brilliant they just need to polish it and test a bit more

Not too bad of a game. Seems they need to patch a few things to help explain a little more clearly how to deal with mutants when they crop up.
That being said, I am surprised that there are branching paths...I did not expect that. Saw someone else play and they ground up the 1st lady so I had no idea not doing that would branch off into story.

@@Owe-g9b123 there are mutliple ones depending on which illness it mimicks, but they all end with 'feralis'. One was toxicus feralis which heals the infection with all four symbols.

This being an early build really shows, it definitely needs some polishing and overall game tweaks. This game despite its problems does show promise.
The game does have potential, just need some more explanation and fixing some bugs.
The animation and feature is already great, so just need to do the rest.
