- The 6PAK, an all-women band started back in the 60s when they were in high school. They even opened for The Box Tops back in the day! After graduating they went their separate ways but got back together when asked to play for a fundraising event some 40 years later! Loved it so much ...it's been 11 years now bringing back the best 60's covers! I'm one of the lead singers of The 6PAK. Our fans call themselves "the Returnables" ...get it?
This was recorded live at Frederick Meijer Gardens to a crowd of several thousand. "Spirit in the Sky" (Norman Greenbaum) -It's one of my favorites to perform! It also has a special significance for me. My late sister, Lauren Lane Powell requested it for her celebration of life. Feels like she's smiling down at me.
Personally, I believe music bypasses the thinking mind and connects at the level of the soul! ...in fact, as a speaker, I often give "keynote concerts" where I sing an original song or two that deepen the impact of the message. Understanding that even peak performers endure a crisis of confidence from time to time, I founded my own coaching platform, Evolve Now, where I empower high-achieving business owners to break through belief barriers for exponential growth. I’m also a founding team member of Brand Builders Group, helping speakers, coaches, and trainers grow their personal brands and businesses.
Whether singing, speaking, coaching, or building personal brands, you gotta get out of your own way! "Do what scares you and it won't anymore."
If you ever dreamed of being comfortable on stage performing or giving a keynote -or want to break through some limitation -or want to explore how building a personal brand can grow your business, you can book a free call here:

Thanks so much for watching! ...and please don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more great music and inspiration!
Fabulous…I’m 75 and still sing my heart out….keep going you lovely ladies and make the world a happier place….🙏🥰🎹🎼🌈
Thank you! Will do!
I'm 81, play my guitars (but not all of them -- I have 40) every day and sing my heart out . . . Been doin' it for 60 years since I first learned to play guitar. Maybe some day I'll get good at it . . . . there is always hope. Never lose hope or you'll become old and doin' nothin' more than lookin' for that Spirit in the Sky.
@@u.s.inteconadvisorygrouplt2668 Good for you! Not sure how your reply slipped by me, but thanks for the comment and hope you keep playing for the rest of your days! :)
Great song I bought that Norman Greenbaum album when it came out back in 1969 and I still have it.
These girls did a great job playing the song. 🎸
I love that the lead guitarist's guitar is nearly as tall as her.....well done ladies... brilliant..👍👍👍👍👍👍
This video made me smile. I don't know why TH-cam recommends certain videos but I'm glad they recommended this one. 🎹 🙂 👍

I'm 68 ! Wonderful childhood memory. Thank you for this excellent recovery !
Thanks so much 😊
I’ve never heard of this group but they are awesome! I’m 77 and the only music I listen to are songs from the 50’s and 60’s and also contemporary Christian music. I have the radio in my truck set on the three channels I can get them on. My wife said I’m stuck in a time warp and need to get out of it. I just love the old songs and groups I grew listening to, they bring back such wonderful memories. Thanks Ladies for sticking with it.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
@user-ck5sf2cc . . . . I'm stuck in that same musical "time warp" . . . . . and I'm LOVIN' it!
It's wonderful to see people enjoying making music together.
Sure fills our hearts ❤
@@khartsings A few years ago I was an official photographer at the Moseley Folk Festival (Birmingham, UK), with Donovan as a top act. Mr Leitch had been somebody whose music I had loved since I was a kid, but to see him and his band thoroughly enjoying themselves on stage exceeded my expectations, and made me realise how important music was to them. It provoked me to take music lessons in my '70s! Music is a pleasure not to give, but to share.
@@frogandspanner not sure how your comment slipped by - but so true! Love that you started taking lessons in your 70s! Music feeds the soul! :)
Brings back memories

Absolutely- that drummer nailed it!
Wow ladies!!!! I'm 63 and you guys are fantastic ❤

The guitarist was hyper-focused. 😅 All you need is go-go dancers in cages like on the old TV shows. 🤣 Good job. Sending it to friends that I graduated with: " This is our generation!"
That’s so cool! Thanks 🙏
Six Sugars on stage. ❤ . Can't be better. Enjoy this moment.😊
Thank you! Yes, savoring these opportunities 🙌
I have now reached 80 and have loved this song plus most of the music from the 50s to the 70s. That's

One of my all time favourite songs to play as well. You ladies did a fine job and looked like you had fun doing so. We need more of this.
Thanks very much ❤
@@khartsings ❤️
The original singer,Norman Greenbaum,is living off the royalties from just this one song..and..has ever since it came out!….The person who writes the hits,..make the $$$$$!
It’s a great song!
This is the BEST video for learning how to play the lead part in "Spirit in the Sky" . . . Granny makes it look so easy, and you know what? IT IS. Just amazing. Their tempo is a tad slow, but that's OK, their clarity of voice, guitars, bass, keys, and drums is fantastic. So clean!
Glad you enjoyed it!
i do like that tempo. i think they all should have blonde hair.
@@davidfrank6666👍
You gals rock.....Norman G for sure approves your alls version.

Amazing sound. That is great. Loved it.
Thanks a lot!
These girls are Fabulous. Bless their hearts😊
Thank you 😊
Well done ladies xxx fantastic.
Thank you
Great arrangement, fine touch on guitar appropriate to each part of the song, good balance between distorted and clean guitars, like on the original, and just an overall good feel and interpretation. That quiet emergence into the third verse after the solo just grabbed me.
Appreciate your sharing your experience!
AWESOME IM 65 AND AM VERY PROUD OF YOU LADIES JAMMING KEEP IT UP ITS A GOOD THING
Thanks so much 😊
"Teach your children" by Graham Nash. From 1969 on I'm still enjoying! Wow! What a harmony! What a voices! The late Jerry Garcia on pedalsteelguitar. What musician!

Thank you so much!😊
Love their rendition, takes me back to my youth
Thanks 🙏🙌
I will gladly stand corrected if someone shows me that I am wrong. I heard that Norman Greenbaum wrote this song as a tongue in cheek, Jewish reaction to watching Sunday morning evangelical T.V. The mainstream Christian community took it as sincere and made the song a giant hit.
You may be right, I just found this: In a 2006 interview with The New York Times, Greenbaum told a reporter he was inspired to write the song after watching Porter Wagoner singing a gospel song on TV. Greenbaum said: "I thought, 'Yeah, I could do that,' knowing nothing about gospel music, so I sat down and wrote my own gospel song. It came easy.
@@khartsings Good old Porter Wagoner, the first man to perform in Nudie suits.
Well done performance i am enjoyed listenning, i like , Alain

I love this! (And somewhere on high, Norman Greenbaum rocks out every time someone plays it :) ) Thank you so very much for the great trip back to my high school senior year.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was awesome! I'm only a young'un here compared to others disclosing their ages - 54. I think I was introduced to this song via the Doctor and the Medics cover from the 80's. Even though the lyrics of this song go against my religion, it's got an amazing catchy rhythm and tune. Loved it.
Glad you gave it a listen! 😊
Gotta love that fuzz box.
