Wildfire Photographer Stuart Palley discusses UCR ARTS’ exhibition “Facing Fire”

  • Stuart Palley, a wildfire photographer whose work is featured in the UCR ARTS’ exhibition “Facing Fire: Art, Wildfire, and the End of Nature in the New West” at the California Museum of Photography, discusses the experience of photographing California wildfires, his photography project “Terra Flamma,” the increase of wildfires due to climate change, and the importance of the “Facing Fire” exhibition and documenting fires as they continue to increase in severity across California.
    “Facing Fire” features work by some of California’s top wildfire photographers including Stuart Palley, Noah Berger, Josh Edelson, and Justin Sullivan. Also featured are Kevin Cooley, Samantha Fields, Jeff Frost, Luther Gerlach, Christian Houge, Richard Hutter, Christoph Kapeller, Benoit Malphettes, Anna Mayer, Cody Norris, Norma I. Quintana, and Joan Wulf. “Facing Fire” is curated by Douglas McCulloh and is on view at the California Museum of Photography through August 2020.     This man has an amazing job. Without them, we'd be left in the dark from news outlets especially this year.
