Good work! What did you unlock at 4000 coins?
I played this a ton in the Japanese arcades and we recently (yesterday) got one at my local arcade in perfect conditions with working cards. I have three cups left on SP150CC and I'm at 3000 coins. :D
Saw that you played DX a bit. Our machines here are only set on one stage with no cups, no card readers either so they are kinda pointless to play. Are they the same at your place?

According to the Super Mario Wiki, the ability to change to a first-person perspective while racing is unlocked at 4,000 Mario Coins.
