    Ohh, gosh I have that anterior tibialis referred pain too! It's almost more painful than my toe. So bad at times I've been fearful it was anterior exertion compartment syndrome. Thank i for uploading this video. I've been doing myofascial release work on the ankle of the foot with hallux limitus or rigidus thinking I need to improve dorsiflexion.

    That looks extremely painful to severe halluxs toe. My toe was not able to be manipulated like that, it would have been way to painful.

    If I have very little cartlidge between the bones in the big toe, would these procedures help me My doctor says only surgery will help. I don't agree. What do you think?

    • @sbacupuncturecpdtraining
      @sbacupuncturecpdtraining  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jannel, if you have above normal wear and tear of the joint then you may require surgery to resolve your problem. Have you been issued insoles and exercise?

    • @janneljames8658

      @@sbacupuncturecpdtraining I’m not sure. I have X-rays I could forward to you. he wasn’t specific. Just kept telling me I need surgery. I had a doctor tell me I must have shoulder surgery once and got a second opinion and they told me to have physical therapy. I did that and I’ve never had an issue. I’m skeptical because he said there was nothing else that could be done. I asked about stretching exercises and orthotics and I was cut off. He is definitely surgery minded. have been told to wear clogs or stiff shoes like that and I also read that shoes must be cushioned… a bit confused.

    You have increased motion of the joint by manipulation. But what happens to the arthritic part of the joint. Does it recover in time or do you have to keep manipulating it?

    • @sbacupuncturecpdtraining
      @sbacupuncturecpdtraining  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not all cases of functional hallux limitus will be arthritic. If arthritis is present maintaining mobility will help to reduce the pain and stiffness. In some cases regular manipulation will be needed.

    • @ehteshamraja332

      @@sbacupuncturecpdtraining ok, because I thought that all cases have to be arthritic.

    For me this appears to be a structural Limitus, not a functional one (as the latter only can recognized under pressure on big toe joint)

    i can bent my toe almost 90 degrees but it hurts , is it hallux limitus or hallux rigidus. i can't stand the pain of my toe

    • @sbacupuncturecpdtraining
      @sbacupuncturecpdtraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Heskiel,
      You definitely don't have hallux rigidus as you would not be able to bend your toe that far. There is very little mobility in a rigid hallux. You may have functional hallux limitus. This is where you have full range of motion when someone passively flex and extend your toe, however when you are weight bearing or walking that range of motion becomes limited. It may be wise to get get a foot specialist to take a look at your foot if it don't settle.

      You will find that patient presenting with hallux rigidus will have loss of cartridge. Patients presenting with hallux limitus depending on severity will determine whether there is any loss of cartilage. In most cases of functional hallux limitus there is no loss of cartilage.
