If Wonder Woman, Shazam, and Aqua Man prove, if you can find the right director and a script that tells the story this movie would require, and someone who is strong enough to resist studio meddling.... the script needs to be R or 80s PG, you need to respect magic (it's not a second rate power wielded by a second rate Justice League) and a director who can blend high fantasy and horror (cause even if it exists in a modern setting), there is something old and timeless and fantastical about it, we aren't talking about spells using smart phones, modern forms/items using magic... latin and old english, etc, spell circles, robes, crystals, cloaks, wands even modernizing character designs (Zatanna isn't a stage magician in a suit and top hat anymore) doesn't change where their magic/powers come from you need to treat it with respect and about all else, do not modernize it, it's not just politics and attitudes, it doesn't have to be grounded in reality, it is fantastical, even in the modern age Del Toro would be a good choice, old Tim Burton (80s era), someone who can answer this question: " that's so old fashion, shouldn't it be modernized, so it makes sense in this world? " No, it isn't modern, it's ancient.... it isn't grounded, it fantastical, and that is how it makes sense
