Today is my 47th day alcohol free
Congrats man, hard part is behind you
I'm 374 days in bro, keep it up it gets easier and you'll feel so much better for it.
I’m 699, it does get easier
I also quit for New Years
Haven't drank since New years....but I'm ready to start again. Just giving my liver a break for a bit 😅 after decades of daily drinking with no ill effects, fortunately......and I'm also fortunate to be able to stop at will with no problem.
Heart disease, liver and kidney disease, pancreatic issues, cancer, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, psychosis...list goes on. Alcohol SUUUUUCKS.
Over 8 months of no alcohol for me
Congrats, It's crazy because when you first get sober and you see people with a little bit of time you think 'no way'! 30 days or even a couple of weeks didn't seem possible. But you do the minute by minute and day by day, all of a sudden you have a few months under your belt. Keep up the good work!
Over 2 years sober now honestly it was the best decison i have ever made. My life was a complete train wreck living from 1 drinks to the next, im now in the best shape of my life and i have never had so much money. I work on my mental health eveyday and i feel like a completly different person these days. Its 100% possible to get sober and stay sober guys dont give up keep going you have got this.
I only drink during the night and dont really obsess about it in the daytime. However, I feel like it's a compulsion for me because once I do drink, I want more and more. I'm trying to tapper so I can one day be alcohol free. Christians, please pray for me. Thanks in advance ❤
Alcohol is a crime against humanity.
Poison!!
So we're the Jabs.
yep...
but in the last 50-60 years its when the real damage started.
back in the day, hardcore alcohols like whiskey, vodka etc were not the main drinks.
people drinked mostly beer or wine. its bad too... but its harder to destroy your life drinking only beer wine or low alcohol content drinks....
modernized alcohol is way dangerous.
you can buy a bottle of vodka for $10 or even less...
itia way cheaper and toxic now than 100 years ago
@@musicmusic6788more so for the jabs
Too much soul to drink spirits ❤❤❤
5months sober now, longest ive gone in my life, im nearly 56, would drink vodka neat for breakfast, did it so far by myself, totally different person now for the better
Hell yeah! Same with me, never since I started 25 years ago have I gone this long. I've been alcohol free for 1 year, 10 months, 28 days #iamsober
Holy Toledo ! At least you coulda mixed it with orange juice, lol.
I am 52 yrs old, I have been drinking alcohol since I was 15 yrs old.I no longer have the desire to drink anymore mostly due to the fact that I know if I don't stop my health will suffer.I have many friends and family members whom have died from alcohol addiction, sadly a few of them were suicides.
Yep same for most. Keep up the good fight! I just did a podcast with my friend Joe, we did one a few months ago and he needed a liver, he came back on and he just got the liver he needed. It will be posted sometime this week
I don’t know how anyone can live without drinking. Life isn’t any fun anymore. Without alcohol everything is just a grind. I went sober for four years, and I hated every minute of it. Sure, I get in trouble from drinking who doesn’t,. But without drinking life is just an empty desert, the land of thirst.
Honest. That’s where you are at. I hope you find something just as compelling for yourself, just to show yourself that this is a possibility. If you still want to drink, that is your choice.
As long as you are not hurting anyone, or yourself. It’s amazing you did four years. That’s an honest to God try!
You're sadly an alcoholic thinking that way.
That’s the evil thing about it, society is so ok with it and the first time you get drunk and have “fun” you’ll never forget that feeling, it’s the same with every drug and some people will just love it. It’s kind of like losing your innocence on the idea of “fun”. But in the end it’s ultimately your choice and everyone can indulge in the poison of their choice. I just say there’s like 1000 cons of drinking and the only pro is you feel good…until well the next day or whenever you sober up.
374 days today and enjoying life. ❤
so what’s new? what is the difference about health?
@@IceQuiky was 130kg before now 86kg. Sleeping better and eating a way healthy diet 👍
I quit drinking some amount of years ago. Six maybe? I never really set a date but I just kindof didn't want to do it anymore. I have friends who are struggling and I wish there was some magic thing that I could tell them to help them quit, but it's different for everyone. My life has gotten unexpectedly better without it.
Same for me, my worst day sober is way better then my best day drunk. After talking with many people in group and on my podcast, there isn’t much to say. I think it has to become a desperation, rock bottom, and that is different for everyone.
if I can't get to a meeting self help videos like this sure help. Thank you !
Thank you for your comment. So happy one of my videos was of help!!
When you come home from a night of binge drinking if you're seeing people in your room and your talking to them then it's a problem because those people aren't even there. It's your brain playing tricks on you. I stopped drinking after 25 years of this terrible stuff. I was fed up with Endoscopy, s ulcers in chest, panic attacks, I was even more miserable, lost my job and family everything. I'm a totally different person now and I'll never touch that poison again because that's what it is!!! 🤮
I’m sober 14 1/2 months after I was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach and liver cancer. They tell me I’ll be dead in a few months. Unfortunately I’m still a loser, I’m still fat and I still have no interest in living. I definitely recommend quitting but dont be fooled it’s some sort of miracle cure all.
I will keep you my prayers, you ever need anything reach out to me via DM instagram.com/recovery_checkins/ , www.tiktok.com/@sammyjmedia?lang=en
God bless you ! You too Sam.
Good luck, bro.
I hope you’re still alive while I’m writing this to you. I force myself to go for walks everyday to put drinking behind me and I will ask the wind to carry you positive thoughts wherever you are in the world. Life is hard, yes… but somehow there’s always flowers growing out of the bullshite. I hope you find whatever flowers speak to you and you find happiness. Earth is blessing you with the Will to do anything you put your mind to. ❤
I had always assumed everyone "wanted more" after the first 2 drinks. Now that I look back on it, no one else around me was doing what I was doing. I was taking down shots of vodka like every 5 minutes until someone would take it away from me. I also didn't think anything of "having a problem" because I wasn't an "every day drinker". I was just someone who "binged" whenever I did drink.
I also falsely believed, as most people do, that the dependency is what makes you an alcoholic. When in reality, it's the other way around. The dependency just happens as a result (but not guaranteed that it will).
You see, for the alcoholic (it's a disease we are born with, in MOST cases) there is this abnormal reaction our bodies have to alcohol (Dr Silkworth referred to it as a "physical allergy"). When we take one, we literally crave more and more. No matter how many we've had, we're almost never satisfied. I say "almost" because there are exceptions. Once I started drinking every day, I did have a limit. But, at that point, the dependency had set in; and this "limit" was still well above the average drinker.
I recently went through detox and that was NOT fun. And by "NOT fun" I mean a living hell. I'm still dealing with lingering withdrawal symptoms.
I recall, during detox, I got on the floor curled up in a ball (I felt like something in me was trying to burst out of my skin) and I was crying and screaming, "Jesus, please take me now". I felt like I was in a dream for a week. I even had this crazy notion of taking the light switch plate off in the bathroom, standing in salty water (high conductor of electricity) and then grabbing the hot wires. When I couldn't get the plate off, I thought of doing it in the laundry room on the 220V dryer outlets (oddly enough, they let us in the laundry room by ourselves).
I felt "trapped" that I could not get a drink.
Thank Jesus I didn't do that, but it was rough for those few days.
I really like your information. Thank you and God bless you Sam!
Thank you for watching!
I have a problem with whiskey i never drink any other alcohol only cravings i have is whiskey and i can quit for almost a month and then drink a few days sometimes heavy sometimes very little i was sober for 4 years and started drinking after covid and gallbladder surgery i know im trying to stop pain from colitis its the only time I drink just wish I could quit
Hit up a meeting in your area, if not get your self with likeminded people. Worst case lock yourself up in the house, the first 30 days and the initial quitting is hard.
I disagree with the notion that you are powerless against alcohol. Don't stop fighting for your health and for yourself and one day you will be triumphant over your addiction! Believe it, and you can achieve it! I did it 15 years ago and you can too
Yep it has a lot to do with perspective
Some of us, many of us ARE powerless against alcohol. You are fortunate not to be one of the many but some people need daily triumphs and are never really through the battle over addictive to substances.
But anyway, good work!🎉
It's true, I can't speak for everyone of course, but it's my feeling that If you concede to the notion that you're powerless against alcohol, then you're admitting you can't beat it on your own. That seems like a form of giving up. True strength and perseverance come from within yourself, and with the power of the mind, anything is possible! Wish you all the best
Exactly! The whole AA nonsense "ohhh, I'm so powerless" is pathetic. That's simply another excuse. I say to them, "well if you have no power or hope, might as well drink til the light goes out". Part of recovery is taking responsibility responsibility and seizing internal power, a driving force that enhances one's ability to take responsibility and to maintain sobriety. AA may work for 4 or 5 percent of attendees; for most, it is total BS.
This guy looks native
Partly I think. Mexican anyway
Sober since August 2022. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. I'm trusting in nothing but the blood of Jesus to pay for my sins to keep me out of hell.
❤❤
The Devils elixir. Alcohol is an awesome drink! Unless, you know other people, NEVER exit your dungeon, walk, talk, have children, have a wife, have a relationship, have a life, see, smell, taste, have feelings, or generally, have a pulse. Oh, and if you do, well, you won’t for long. 🤮🤢🤢🤢😵💫
💯!
Right? I call it the devil’s pee. 😂 I’ve got way too much soul to drink spirits.
I don't get angry that others can drink just one
Great, for me I’m jealous I can’t drink like a gentleman
@@Recoverywithsam how might one define "drinking like a gentleman"?
I think he means not losing your composure eventually, getting sloppy in affect with the alcohol. I think Sam is a true gentleman for sharing and caring with his experiences of addiction.
@@user-lj4xs4gn8u I'm actively in my addiction. I never get sloppy or even buzzed anymore. I just can't deal with not having it. I get sick and sometimes I have auditory hallucinations.
@@Recoverywithsam With me, once I start thats it. One glass of wine or beer sets off the mental dominos for me
I drink once in a blue moon. But this helps me want to clean up. I'm trying to quit smoking too, and it's hard. I need help with something though.
I'm trying to get in the military and it's been more than 30 days and my body will not detox. Has anyone had this issue. Please 🥺❤
Take a home test, just because you didn’t detox doesn’t mean it’s still in your system.
@@Recoverywithsam I have a huge box full of tests and I still keep getting a positive on all of them. Could it be a problem in my kidneys or my liver?
@@Hankslittlelady27Do you drink lots of water? Green tea? Exercise everyday? Quitting smoking will definitely help the alcohol stop hanging on to your cells. Also, what’s your diet like with food?
Nah.
I tried to be a alcoholic but my body doesn't let me🤷🏿♂️ I don't know how people become alcoholics..
That’s great, you know you’re an Alcoholic if you have an Obsession for it.
It’s a progression thing and doesn’t happen overnight. Everyone reacts to drugs differently and alcohol being one of them I would classify as a drug.
@Xstr3ngthz absolutely! But I really tried to drink my depression away after I lost my dad, and I just kept getting sick and kept trying to get drunk but got sick every time, then just gave up trying to drink
You are very lucky you did not take to alcohol like a duck to water.
@@user-lj4xs4gn8u
Amen. Had my first at age 10 and KNEW it was a game changer. By 14, I knew it was a real problem.
Speed it up peppi...
Sorry I’m working on doing a better job. Thanks for the feedback
I love your calm composure Sam. You’re the man!
