- We can't believe we've been living in a camper for 7 months! 🤯
Cooking in the camper has been one of our biggest challenges with camper life. The space is pretty small and we have only a few inches of counter space.
I prefer cooking over the fire with a cast iron. I typically use the cast iron as a dutch oven but it’s fun to experiment with a new ways of cooking. In this video I experiment using it as a cast iron skillet!

What do you recommend trying in the cast iron? Love hearing suggestions!
Nothing beats camp-fire cooking ❤
Totally agree! Before cooking with the cast iron the only things I had really cooked over the fire were hot dogs and mountain pies
That looks sooo Good.
Hello i just purchased the stand. I would definitely keep things stable and have the legs on the ground. You can build up all of the kindling and newspaper inside of the stand and then stack.some dry split wood around the stand snugged up and light it up. Lodge has a video.
That was fun to watch. I love the pot and stand. Very versatile. Well done!
The pot and stand are so handy! It's fun experimenting with cooking outdoors!
I LOVE cooking over an open fire.. nothing tastes better in my opinion.. ive never tried a casserole though, thank you for posting
It's so fun! I love experimenting with a new way of cooking. The casserole worked great. The tater tots weren't crispy like they get in the oven but it still tasted delicious and lasted us for several days 🎉
my family loves when i make a French toast jumble/casserole type breakfast. Also, if it’s deep enough to hold a whole chicken, that is wonderful in a traditional Dutch oven.
That sounds amazing! Do you follow a recipe? If so, I'd love to see what recipe you follow! I'll have to see if it can hold a whole chicken! That's a great idea.
@@HomesteadDreamers when my family bought me my first Dutch oven, they also gave me a recipe book called 101 things to do with a Dutch oven. Most of the recipes contain way too much cheese or bacon. :-)
I love my cast iron. It is perfect for cooking on my stove top, in my oven or on my grill. So versatile!
I totally agree! I'm trying to invest in more versatile cooking equipment so that I have less cookware but still the same functionality!
You should do a seed ordering video and why you chose the seeds you do. Nice post.
That would be fun! I think I might do that! Thanks for the suggestion
Good video….enjoyed….thank you
Thanks for watching!!
I love cooking outdoors I also have cast iron love to cook with them and I do love your stand & it seems sturdy too the tater tot casserole looked good try making chili with cornbread or a beef stew or even a chicken stew with ranch seasoning I also like to cook chicken & sauerkraut I know yuck and I said the same thing until I tried it and make some mashed potatoes with it yum❤
Yes! The stand is super sturdy! I was pleasantly surprised! Thanks so much for the recipe recommendations. Chili and cornbread sound amazingggg! I'll have to try that soon.
same except i like peas
That stand will lay on it side
When you decide to get your pressure canner consider an all-American. In the long run worth the investment
I was looking into those recently! They look really nice and worth it. I think I might get one this year or next year 🙂
Flip it over, makes a great pizza with coals on top.
ohhh that sounds delicious!
Look up ‘impossible crust pizza’ @whipperwill holler, it’s a Yorkshire pudding batter that makes a great pizza-you put any meat toppings on the crust before baking the crust. She does it in a cast iron skillet in the oven-I’ve made it with the cook-it-all while camping.
