    I think it’s really amazing that you make such an effort to still cover not only unsolved cases, but especially cases that aren’t really well known. I feel like a lot of the true crime community have moved more towards solved cases, which is still important in its own way, those people deserve to still have their stories heard as well. But I think you keeping unsolved cases as the main focus for your true crime content, even though these cases don’t typically get as many views as solved ones, is just really admirable,

    Honestly, I believe that at some point someone who Rachel knew and trusted encountered her, and convinced her and the girls to accompany him on what was supposed to be a brief excursion out from Seminary South. Then, wherever they went (likely somewhere nearby), something happened and Rachel got killed. Like, maybe the guy tried to come onto her, and she and/or Renee fought back and it ended with a death or fatal injury. Panic sets in and the survivors are killed and disposed of somehow and somewhere.
    Both the Websleuths posts and the Gone Cold podcast all seem to indicate that there is so much more going on in this case than meets the eye. It feels like there's so many secrets that are keeping this case from going any further, but I believe that what was going on in Rachel's life up til the day of her disappearance is the key to breaking this case wide open.
    I know both Richard Wilson (Renee's father) and Kelli Jean Arnold (Rachel's cousin) believe that Tommy wrote the note, and a handwriting expert concluded it matched his handwriting apparently.
    But I'd highly recommend that you listen to the Gone Cold podcast which did what is undoubtedly the most comprehensive coverage of this case to date, and it talks in depth about the note, and clears up a lot of misconceptions.

      The gone cold podcast clears up nothing. Everyone's still spinning their wheels in the wrong flippin' direction. But nobody seems to hear me.
      The fort worth police department screwed this case from the moment they were called. And continued to completely screw it up every day since. One giant crap show back then and my Mother Debra had the staring role. She was questioned more than once over the years. Even took 2 polygraph's.
      And just incase anyone's wondering about that.
      Debra had a meltdown and ripped off the leads and angrily stormed out of the first polygraph test and left the bldg. She then LAWYERED UP and worked out which questions they could and could not ask her.
      So she went back with her lawyer and took the polygraph. The results came back as INCONCLUSIVE.

      The thing is a lot of people who disappear did really run away and don't want to come back, or turn up alright eventually, or were in someone's house and forgot to inform their loved ones.
      So if the police took the time to investigate every cases minusiously, the search for the ones who are in real danger would be delayed, time is of essence.
      Don't get me wrong, I do think that even if the person ran away, the police should search for them.

And concentrate on the runaways who’s absence seems out of character and possibly dangerous for them.

    I have never understood why "runaway cases", especially involving minors, are not taken seriously. Even if they decided to run away, if you're a minor (and didn't take anything with you) you're very likely to end up hurt in some way wether starving, taken advantage of, freezing, etc?? And ESPECIALLY if the parents are out there looking for them, why can't the police just do there job and help find them and bring them back?? The way they don't care about runaways just. Infuriates me

    • @whitneyangelie3682
      @whitneyangelie3682 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      IDK man… I think it should be a case by case basis… I used to run away all the time as a teen and so did most of my friends. We all survived and didn’t want to be found. I think if cops spent all their resources chasing after a bunch of teenage runaways no other serious crimes would ever be solved. That said, cops need to do a better job at figuring out who probably *did* run away, and who probably *didn’t* . Anyone in their right mind would suspect these girls didn’t run away due to the circumstances of their disappearances , and the fact they had a kid with them. The authorities should’ve known that was NOT a typical teen runaway case and taken it more seriously.

  • @hg278
    @hg278 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I'm so glad this case hasn't been forgotten and you did a great job with it, considering how old it is znd how much conflicting information is out there. I don't believe the three ran away for a second. But abductions of three people simultaneously are so rare that we often discuss cases to this day that involve those scenarios because they're so unique. I tend to think Rachel did write the letter, and it was mailed Dec. 23rd. I've seen a lot of discussion online about it and there seems to be general agreement that local mail instate could certainly have been that fast even back then. But I find it hard to believe she wrote it voluntarily, and I think using Tommy's full name was her way of trying to indicate that. Mostly I think this because it really does look like a teen girls handwriting and I think that is hard to mimic without giving clear indications of forgery, which I have to think the FBI would have noticed.

    I feel so bad for Rusty. But I think he’s letting grief cloud his judgement about Tommy. It just doesn’t make sense that Tommy would decide to harm Rachel (& the other girls) to get out of a marriage, when he has been married & divorced both before & after. He clearly had no hang up about divorce. But I can’t bring myself to criticize Rusty too harshly, I can’t even imagine loosing one of my sisters & not having answers.

      Let me give you a small taste of what kind of Scumbag Rusty is. I am his niece. A few years back. Rusty faked a DNA test. He produced a document stating that my Grandfather was a match to be my biological father. For two years he kept up the Big Lie and had me believe I was his sister. 🔥When a new DNA test was done and proved it to not be true. I and a few other folks contacted the DNA Laboratory that Rusty (supposedly) had the DNA test done at. They had absolutely zero records of Rusty, me or my Grandfathers dna test in their system. And Rusty could also NOT provide proof of that financial purchase of said supposed test.
      He is a awFull sick ass scumbag and I will never forgive him for the severe emotional damage he caused me. That is just one of very many devasting blows my biological family has sickly delt out my way along the years.

    I work with human trafficking victims and there's two things that make me question the validity of that theory in this particular case. Of course, I can only speak based of my training and experience, not based on specific knowledge of this case. I just don't think these girls fit the research-based profile of trafficking victims. As disturbing as it sounds, the two older girls would be considered "too old" for most traffickers. Those perps want young kids (I believe the most common age for entry into trafficking is 11 but the research varies) who they can more easily brainwash and control, and many of their clients are likely pedophilic and looking for very young girls, as well. Now, of course, Julie was only 9 (which is a more typical age for traffickers to target), so theoretically the older girls may have been kidnapped either just to get to her or as additional but not primary targets. But I think most traffickers would have been uninterested in them, viewing them as a risky barrier to get past. Additionally, these girls don't fit there profile because most traffickers are going to target people with fewer ties to the community, such as children who have already run away and are homeless, possibly already engaged in sex work or drug trafficking. Other risk factors include being a person of color, being LGBT (especially trans youth), having mental or physical disabilities, not speaking the primary language of the area, and being undocumented. A kidnapper might not have known their whole life story, but they develop very keen eyes for spotting victims who, in their eyes, wouldn't be missed, and I just don't think they'd have focused on these three.

I know some are afraid of speaking, fearing who ever kills, rapes, molests or steals, will come for them, but we're all human beings, and we all follow some sort of code. Morality is something almost everyone follows. If you see a crime take place or knows someone whose broke the law, why remain silent and walk away? You should inform immediately. Families are devastated when know nobody says anything until years later when the case become a cold case. It hurts them, the community and society in general.

    There is no way that I would believe that a mailman put the "runaway letter" in the mailbox. The highest volume of first class letters was always the week before Christmas. With that date on the postmark (and Tommy said that there was no other mail in the mailbox with the letter), someone (and it might not have been a kidnapper) took the letter to a post office to have it postmarked, then put it in the mailbox to be found. The person who took the letter to the post office might have even been told by a postal clerk that, if mailed, the letter would never make it for out-of-town delivery overnight.

    We have seen many instances of abductions or attempted abductions from malls by many serial killers and it appears obvious this is what happened here. What happened after that god knows, but if you are taken to second location it is never good. The letter may or may not be real, but in either case it doesn't really matter. If it's fake it's just an annoyance, if it's real it is the guy buying time. No matter what, they were likely dead soon afterwards.

    Why are the US police force obsessed with 'runaways?' I have heard this so often on unsolved cases, and it generally transpires to be a misjudgment, and the missing person is never seen or heard from again. In this case, three runaways, all in agreement, seems highly unlikely to me.

    • @Lilithly
      @Lilithly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Love your channel. My thoughts...back then post office rules were more lax than now especially in smaller towns. I am thinking the stamp on the letter is a big clue here. One of the smaller towns post office would have realized the stamp was worn .ie the 3 or 8. The stamp would have been retired and/or disposed of by whatever means deemed appropriate. This would mean someone, perhaps the unidentified suspect, had access to this stamp. They could have very easily hand delivered this letter without it ever going through the Post Office by stamping it themselves. There are a few possibilities with this. Maybe the suspect worked at the PO or maybe had a relative in the PO. It is also possible the suspect was a security person and/or post person? Maybe the girls knew him and would have felt safe. Given the letter clues only a few people would have known the husband by his given name- family, professional, school friend/teacher( especially with the "misspelled names). Just sharing some thoughts on this case. Wishing the family answers.

    Thanks for the link,however i have been studying this case for over 34 years, and i will first tell you this that it had nothing to do with teenage runaways, and two it had nothing to do with a family abduction. This case in the fort worth Texas case, is that the girls was abducted by a lurking serial killer who signature MO was scoping out young girls and women, and abducting them from public parking lot of establishments where the victims last known locations, and one man who lived in the state of Texas in the 70's exactly around the same time as the fort worth Texas girls disappearances, the same man who was living a quiet life in forth worth in 2021,when new DNA evidence Linked him to a notorious crime.. police already suspected that it wasn't this man first abduction in forth worth and murder, or his last.. he has lived in fort worth for nearly 50 years around the same time as the fort worth Texas trios when dna linked him to a 1974 abduction and murder of 17 year old Carla walker..the man name was glen mccurley. Mccurley on feb 17,1974 he abducted 17 year old Carla walker from a fort worth Texas bowling alley after attacking her boyfriend knocking him unconscious! And he then abducted carla and took her somewhere where he brutally raped and murdered her. Her body was found feb 19,1974 in a ditch south of fort worth Texas. Mccurley now 80 was arrested after the dna link to the feb17, 1974 fort worth Texas abduction and murder of 17 year old Carla walker September 22,2020.. he was sentenced to life imprisonment for her abduction and murder of Carla walker and died some time around lastyear, the question remains by law enforcement officials, is that was Carla walker his first and last victim? As police still investigating him as a serial killer of fort worth Texas of the 70's and 80's. What links him to the fort worth trios case is for one, both cases, the Carla walker case and the fort worth Texas trios case is that both cases occurred in the same state of fort worth Texas, and both cases occurred only nine months from each other, and lastly in both cases Carla walker, and the fort worth trios case all four girls encountered their kidnappers at public parking lots Carla at a fort worth Texas bowling alley parking lot, and the three girls at a fort worth Texas shopping mall, as this means it definitely connected and it's my opinion that the man who abducted the three girls could have been glen mccurley..

    Every scenario that I can think of just he's thrown off by little Julie being in the mix. To me it seems that the teen girls were the targets here, but I just don't know why someone would risk abducting three girls instead of one of two. Any scenario that I can think of little Julie just doesn't fit into it. I know that sex trafficking schemes don't discriminate by age, but I'm just not seeing why abduct two developed teen girls and one little girl. I know a child predator is a predator, but I think only pedophiles are attracted to prepubescent girls. That's what I can't make sense of. It had to be someone the girls knew well for them to go willinly OR if it was a stranger they had to be under the impression that he/ they were helping them with something. Otherwise it makes no sense for three girls to be abducted in broad daylight at a mall the day before Christmas Eve without no-one noticing a dispute or struggle of some kind. This is an odd one for sure.

    Catch it meaning catch hell. And you don't not return a minor. No one heard screaming?

    El Dorado Jane Doe’s ex-boyfriend/killer claimed that she was “best friends” with the Fort Worth Trio. He said that they were all trafficked and that “the young one” died giving birth. He said that they remained in the area and chose to stay as “sex workers” of their own volition. IDK if this is true as he was telling these stories from prison to hopefully get something, but I thought it was interesting.
