Ahh French person here! This case is probably one of the most known cases in France. I'm sure you did a great job covering it. I believe it's been 10years since it happened and there is a series coming soon. Will watch this as I make dinner xx
It’s so sad that he took away the lives of his family - they could have flourished without him. It’s also strange that someone so obsessed with family lineage would effectively end it. Great vid Georgia, thank you 💕💕
"It’s also strange that someone so obsessed with family lineage would effectively end it." I know, right? Ending one's bloodline doesn't exactly go with taking pride in one's aristocratic lineage.
OH MY GOD "don't leanr French, you sucks" reminds me from the time I tried to join the church's choir and the Nun who organized it told me that I should consider taking a vow of silence.
Family annihilators are prone to be narcissistic, and generally fall into four main categories. My guess would be that Xavier falls into the 'Anomic' category, where he blamed Agnès and the children for his economic plight. I also believe he is still alive, given the shady, 'Don't know what my dad does for a living' lifestyle.
I’ve watched a few vids on this case but only nine minutes in and I’m getting a better feel for Xavier than any of the others. You have quite the talent of in-depth compilation. When paired with your well organized relaying of information a vivid depiction of the topic is achieved. Absolutely fabulous! Xx
“List.” You’re right, I had not thought of it, but not that you’ve said it, it feels like listening to the List case. Hopefully it will end the same way, with the father found.
yup. listened to the last podcast on the left's episode on him and their psychoanalysis of him is on point and even more chilling when you see this case and that it's apparently not an isolated case at all. this could happen to the family of someone you KNOW

I'm French so obviously I've known of this case for a long time. It kills me to think that this horrible man is probably living his best life somewhere hidden after commiting such atrocities.... I really hope he'll be found one day and can be brought to justice
Just watched the Unsolved mysteries yesterday . Maybe it was partially the subtitles and translation but your version has more information than the other . I think he’s escaped and living somewhere unnoticed . So sad for his family
I have read about this sad case. I believe Xavier killed his entire family just like John List did back in the 1970s in usa. I don't see how a father could do that, but it must have something to do with the father having a super ego. I hope they find Xavier.
Hi, the man you spoke of who Scottish police wrongly suspected to be Xavier is my friend's Step father. Luckily the situation was rectified quickly but it was a difficult experience for him and his family. We were speaking of this again together only a few weeks ago. I hope he is found! Love your videos 😁 x
Gonna be honest, this video is a so much better representation of the case over the Unsolved Mysteries ep. I knew nothing about his possessiveness and the letters by his wife. They seem to have tried to build up a mystery, when there is pretty much no doubt he did it.
And one of the main witness they used for the serie is believed to be lying about some stuff If you can read french or can find a translated copy who should look into the two part series the magazine Society did last summer.
What is so puzzling is that Xavier was so meticulous and careless at the same time that he could very well be alive or dead...I lean towards him being alive though. Also, I've watched so many videos about this case and there's a few things I had never heard about (like the police report from 2005) so you did a great job ! Don't worry about your pronunciation, I'm a native French speaker and I understood you perfectly well :)
I wonder if he left the trail deliberately so people would think he killed himself in the mountains. As Georgia said there were ships he could have got on or trains he could have taken out if France.

No doubt whatsoever that Xavier did this. I agree the real mystery is how he disappeared and how in this day and age, someone like that can live either totally off the grid, or get an entirely new identity that is legit enough to not be flagged up by law enforcement. It reminds me of the Vacuum Guy in the show Breaking Bad.

This man was really out here writing whole dramatic ass letters and exposing intimate details of his marriage to people who probably didn't even wanna know, just to establish himself as A Nice Guy™. Bro.
Hey guys, we got a problem. “Silencers” are not silent. In fact, they are known among shooting enthusiasts as “suppressors”, because they only dampen the noise of the gunshot. I think it’s highly unlikely that anyone would not hear a suppressed gunshot indoors, where the sound would be louder, never mind multiple gunshots. It likely would be about as loud as a window breaking. How did he kill so many people at once with a firearm with none of the neighbors hearing?
Lord Lucan had the means and the contacts to disappear for many decades. I'm sure this bloke could just as easily do the same. Even Ronnie Biggs disappeared and was only arrested when he returned to England, and he was just a train robber. Edit: Ronnie was in Brazil for more than two decades and only returned home due to being homesick.
The one thing I can't help but wonder is if he was seen along the roads after leaving that last hotel. And did his family imagine he drove off like that to get assassinated at a later point, after someone put a hit on his wife and children??
Thank You for covering this! I got so lost on it on unsolved mysteries! lol 😂 you definitely have a knack at explaining things much more clearly and with more information that is so important to the story! Great Job sunshine ♥️💕♥️
I am really not a fan of unsolved cases at all, I like answers... But I like your videos so much I watch your midweek mystery every week without fail ❤️
I’m confused because I have read that Thomas was seen with his father in a restaurant in the evening of the 4th April. Waiters noted that Thomas felt unwell at the end of the meal. Was Thomas called home twice? On Monday and Tuesday too? Or did the father go to where Thomas was living to eat out with him? He did visit his friend on the Tuesday. I’m confused! 💕🐶🐶 Love all your videos. This one was fantastic
My French teacher asked me to drop out of the subject 2 weeks before the final GCSE exams because I was that awful. Of course I took her offer, always struggled with French lol
Wow I watched the unsolved mystery episode but didn’t recognise it as the same case until you mentioned it! They definitely romanticised him in the episode!
This is a total aside, but... I don't know if you recall, but a couple of years ago you mentioned you'd been studying Spanish via Duolingo. I was like, "Wtf? Why haven't I been doing that?" I just completed two years in French thanks to you!!
@@r4.v3n It really depends on your goals. For a free app, it's excellent!! It has speaking exercises and lots of different types of lessons, so it doesn't get boring. I'm at the stage where I can read about 80% or so of most French I come across. I don't think I'd be great conversationally; although it has a lot of speaking exercises, I don't get much practice outside of the app. However, I'd be able to struggle through a conversation if necessary. Again, for a free app, it's great, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it! The memes about Duo (the little owl mascot) being aggressive in "reminding" you to do a lesson are true, but you can disable them in settings. ;) You can also do lessons either on your phone, or on your computer. The benefit of doing lessons on your computer is that you don't lose "hearts." If you get something wrong in a lesson, you lose a heart. You have five hearts, and if you get five questions wrong in the same lesson, you have to earn more by doing practice lessons. This is the most annoying part of the app, but it can be bypassed by doing lessons on your computer (or by paying for the app - then you have unlimited hearts). It is really rare to lose all five hearts in a single lesson, but it's easy to lose them all if you're doing multiple lessons a day. All-in-all, I'd been procrastinating learning French for years, and after Georgia mentioned she had been learning Spanish, I was like, "Why not do it right now?" I'm so freaking glad I did!! ETA: I've also been able to converse in French online with French-speaking people - there are some people I follow on IG who are French, and I can chat with them now and act as a "translator" when they need help with English posts... That's literally been the best part!
@@SmittenKitten. ohhhh this is incredible! It's really cool that you can even help people translate things to english now. I've been postponing learning italian for a long time too, I'll give it a try with duolingo now! Thank you sooo much for your detailed response, it helped a lot! Cheers xx
Why? To ruin his legacy. I wonder if his mysterious "business dealings" were with powerful people who do nefarious things. Perhaps his wife figured it out, or he made some sort of huge mistake, and they decided he needed to go. Knowing that his lineage, and reputation were paramount to him, the most important thing, their punishment for him was to destroy that thoroughly. Killing his entire family and making it look like he did it, right down to paying off all debts. This came to mind because of the immaculate clean up job. A crew of mobsters would totally know how to kill the family in such a way as to not leave trace evidence and blood behind, and also know how to expertly clean up anything that may have been left. I wonder if they kept the family (or at least the parents/dad) alive long enough for the son to come home. That would add pain and suffering to him for certain. They put all incriminating evidence in the car, which would get rid of it whilst also making it look as tho he did it and ran. Im only 27 mins in tho, so I could be missing lots of the story lol.
When I first heard about this case from watching Unsolved Mysteries, I thought it was so heartbreaking. I definitely think he's more than capable of murdering his entire family. I think he was really struggling financially and didn't want his family to suffer so because of that, he carefully planned out how he would go about it. Although it doesn't excuse what he did. He still murdered his entire family and needs to be held accountable for his actions. I also think Xavier is still alive and living somewhere rlse, quietly living knowing that he killed his family. I really hope he'll be found soon so he can say what really happened and be held accountable for his actions.
Saw this on unsolved mysteries and I was PISSSEDDD AS FUCK ! , this family has never got the justice that they deserve and if he is living his life somewhere ( which I 100% believe he is ) I really hope his life has been nothing but hell !!!
I'm from argentina and Believe me, if he make it here, he can live here and never be found! Hitler did it and for some people is still a theory when we know where and when he was living here
The Wikipedia page on this is quite interesting. Some theories speculate on a contract killer, or there were multiple people involved in the family’s murders, or that none of the family are dead at all, just in hiding under new identities. Some think the bodies that were buried aren’t even the family members. Another is that Xavier is also dead, most likely a murder-suicide.
I've never heard anyone refer to the 2000s as the noughties, I had to rewind and google it because I thought you said naughty haha. In the US we don't really have a word for that decade at all so that makes sense!
Ah, I remember when the Glasgow airport arrest happened....I really had my hopes up at the time! Hopefully he'll be found eventually and his poor family can have some justice....technology is becoming better and better. If he is still alive I think the only way for him to stay completely under radar is if he's raising goats or something in a very rural part of the world.
My dad has had three back surgeries ( basically did nothing ) and has had one shoulder surgery and has extremely stiff joints. If my dad was able to live like this everyday for 56 years and work at a saw mill for 26 years, picking up 80-90 lbs at one time. Bending over and getting in your knees to burry your family and clean the house, a bad back shouldn’t be the thing that keeps your from doing that. “ Rage and anger can make the best of people do terrible things “
I think the father did it and with his over inflated since of worth he could still be on the run! I really don't see how anyone else had a reason. The whole thing is horrible!

He’s alive, this was meticulously planned and he led them to where he wanted them to believe he was.
This man was really out here writing whole dramatic ass letters and exposing intimate details of his marriage to people who probably didn't even wanna know, just to establish himself as A Nice Guy™. Bro.
Thanks, Georgia!
I had never heard of this case before. As always, excellent video.
I love your eyebrows so much i wish mine looked like that they just dont grow like that :(
Hey guys, we got a problem.
Not with those weird burials. Sort of religious and separated with one a little away. Idk
He had a beautiful family. What a monster. He absolutely did not kill himself.
What a very sad story, he’s out there somewhere, we can only hope Karma gets the best of him..
yesssss I've been hoping you'd cover this case! I personally believe the father is still out there, living in secret
French here ! Thank you for covering this case !!
Another french here. Very famous case. Xavier's picture is often used as an internet meme... xD
I wonder why killing is easier than just leaving for some people. Those kids and their mum had their lives ahead of them......May justice be served
Very interesting case. And don't fret about the pronunciation, I haven't seen a video about this case that wasn't a butchery
Your research work is amazing. Keep posting such videos. love from far❤️
Love all your videos.
Thank you for covering this
This is a total aside, but... I don't know if you recall, but a couple of years ago you mentioned you'd been studying Spanish via Duolingo. I was like, "Wtf? Why haven't I been doing that?" I just completed two years in French thanks to you!!
Does it work?? I've been thinking about using it but I don't know if it actually helps
The benefit of doing lessons on your computer is that you don't lose "hearts."
If you get something wrong in a lesson, you lose a heart.
Cheers xx
@@r4.v3n Oh, you're so welcome!! :D I'm just glad I was able to help!
Omg thank you 👏👏👏👏
This is very similar to the John List case in the US. He's out there somewhere.
Georgia you’re so beautiful! 🥰 thank you for working your ass off to provide us with these videos
Lol! Georgia I love to hear you mispronounce french words!
hahahah thank you
When I first heard about this case from watching Unsolved Mysteries, I thought it was so heartbreaking.
I remembered the case from the new Unsolved Mysteries. Definitely a house of horror and I hope he is caught.
Thanks Georgia 🙏🏻❤️ love from İstanbul
This story is crazy, the father needs to be brought to justice, this is so wrong
I've never heard anyone refer to the 2000s as the noughties, I had to rewind and google it because I thought you said naughty haha. In the US we don't really have a word for that decade at all so that makes sense!
Really?! It's such a common phrase here it didn't occur to be it wouldn't be widely used!
My son calls it the O ies lol
I’ve heard it called the naughts in the US.
@@janeillebraswell2519 I may have heard naughts maybe once or twice, usually I just hear "the 2000s". Interesting lol
Me: This is mentioning Medieval France and French Aristocrats so there’s going to be Anti Semitism.
Me two seconds later: Up, there it is!
Your accent is soothing. Sad case...but you did an amazing job.
Soo eerie. I was just thinking about this case a few days ago. I couldn't remember their names. Awesome you're covering it! 👍
Omggg I’ve been waiting for this one
"Some bedsheets are missing"
Me: uh oh
"Pictures missing out of frames"
Me: oh noooo
Yay..a 40 min video from Georgia 🥰 thank god the kids are sleeping and mumma can get into some true crime 😆
Thank you for doing a Nantes case
I love to listen to you speak 💛
I think the father did it and with his over inflated since of worth he could still be on the run! I really don't see how anyone else had a reason. The whole thing is horrible!
Wow I wish I could speak so continuously and confidently like you, so that I could improve my future videos too 🙏
Georgia: his face really isn’t anything special. It’s actually really normal and boring and doesn’t stick out at all.
Me: damn savage
(Ik that’s not exactly what she said that’s just what I thought)
He is maybe in Australia if this is what he wrote in the letters he sent to families.!
Perhaps French Polis should contact to AUS police
Holy shit how had I never heard about this case?!
I’m looking at all my neighbours in a new light 🧐🥸
This just reminds me of Brad Bishop. He’s still on the run (technically) though he would be in his mid-80s.
Why don't these people just run off ? It is like he couldn't stand them existing without them. I keep looking at all their faces and their lives are just gone. No future careers and lives for the children and no second chance for Agnès.
