Sweeet!! Sounding good! Closer to riding again! 💪💪💯 You got your head ported some years back didnt ya!? When i ordered the big 3 from Empire they said Vortex doesn’t make a programmer for 2024 Model Years, so i got the dynojet! I definitely love the power upgrade! Cant wait to see the finished project and you ripping again! Great video Pete!
Thankfully the Raptors still run great with the power commanders. Jay said they added an extra pin to the factory ECU a couple model years ago so hopefully they offer an updated vortex for the newer raptor harnesses soon.
@@KobyDavis-d4q I use a GoPro 11 for helmet cam now. A lot of my 3rd person video I’ve been filming with my iPhone 13 otherwise I have a Sony A6000 with a long lens I’ll use on rides sometimes. All my videos list the camera great in the description 😊👍
I wish there was a place near by that I could get my raptor dynoed it overheats a lot and pees out coolant from how hot it’s getting and it won’t idle very often until it’s warm I just got a fresh big gun on it
If you have a power commander you can always call Illinois Powersports and Jay could send you a tune for your machine via email. It will cost money but will come with his support to get your quad dialed. If you don't have an aftermarket fuel controller you could look into getting a new PC6 or Vortex ECU from us on our website (vortex depends on model year) Hopefully you can get your quad dialed and running happily.
@@PeteHager thanks man looking into getting a new power commander the old one went out I will probably get ahold of them and get a tune I found a shop that might be able to dial it in I just broke my ankle so I’ve been down for about 5 months I can’t wait to get back out there lol
@@OhioSuperSport Yes it's 4 inches longer and utilizes both muffler mounting bolts instead of one. Dasa also has a quiet core available for all of their classic exhaust systems. I may pick one up for next season if I plan to travel to any noise sensitive areas. Wisconsin is notorious for giving out decibel tickets so it kinda depends on where you live
@PeteHager the raptor is looking good, I'm enjoying the content. Let me know if you are coming to Ohio. We have a local track with mx and woods course.
yes you can, I would coordinate that with them directly by giving their shop a call. 630-365-6722. Shipping can be kinda spendy since insurance on a $800 ECU add's up but Jay's turnaround time is pretty fast
No I wanted to try something else and the stars aligned when Jay said he had that all black exhaust in stock. There's very little silver left on the quad so the cosmetics were on reason for the change. Plus the longer muffler is a little quieter and I wanted to try something new 😊
The highest it made was 60 on the original rebuild. The motor has top end work done to it in anticipation for a built bottom end someday. He said the ported head isn't really utilized until bigger power numbers. Technically you can reach these numbers with the big 3 and just a cam. I'm still running close to stock compression so I can utilize pump gas on more remote trips. The next time the motor is tired we will most likely turn up the juice and build the bottom end. Then maybe I'll look into a +2 swing arm or something a tad longer if we jump up to 70-80 horse. Unfortunately at that point it would pretty much become a dune machine though. In all honesty if you're just trail riding I would only do the big 3 to the Raptor as 50+ horse is more than enough for hard surfaces in my opinion. Let me know if you guys have any specific questions 😊
He has some engine upgrades as well. HC3 i believe, ported if memory serves. But, what is strange, is my big 3 makes almost exact same numbers. Different curve though.
@14_yote5_oh5 i did a hc3 and +3tb and i cant feel the difference other than a loss in low end torque. I could idle up my steep driveway before and now its easy to stall. Something isnt right.
@14_yote5_oh5 His dyno is fully Dynojet certified. 100% correct readings. Many dynos have slightly to drastically elevated numbers. (Due to them not being correctly calibrated) His dyno reads as conservatively as it can. Ultimately you don't compare one dyno to another. You compare "Before and After".
@@christopherjacquez8605 The Big 3 makes a huge difference. The key is in the tune. @@Williamxmr it's definitely a sport focused machine but it's a sport utility with 4 wheel drive. They're the fastest ATV you can buy in my opinion. However they are shaft driven automatics that weigh significantly more than traditional straight axle sport quad so they're kinda in a different category. Although I find them crazy to ride, I still prefer the smaller, lightweight sport ATVs 👍
@ sounds like people who “prefer” Honda civics. They are categorically worse. Slower, worse handling, worse compliance, less capable when you aren’t ripping, harsher on your body. It’s like saying “I like dull knives better”. It’s senseless. A hellcat weighs more than a 69 Camaro with a big block and it’s better at everything.
I'm a bit perplexed at your arguments for categorically worse? have you ridden a built 450 for racing? They're incredibly capable and handle on rails. If you ride smooth and have your suspension properly set up along with a steering stabilizer and antivibe products then the demands of your body tend to become purely cardio and endurance based. If you're out riding a stock Banshee, then your argument very valid as it's gonna completely beat you up. It's pretty impossible to compare a modern hellcat to a 60's era muscle car. The amount of technology and advancement is leagues ahead. Do you think it's ridiculous for people to drive classic cars? Don't you think they appreciate the raw, analog experience vs all the aids and tech in modern vehicle? Everyone has different tastes and preferences with everything. That's what leads innovation. If you like the Renegade then that's fantastic. There's tons of aftermarket available for them and they're super comfortable with their power steering and ergonomics 🤘
Jay is an absolute legend as are the rest of the guys at Illinois powersports! Can’t wait to see the Raptor at little Sahara
Safe to say, your quad is in good hands over there at Illinois powersports, Jay is a legend💪💪
Hell yeah man happy to see your pride and joy coming back to life and I'm really digging that gold frame loving the build/ frame swap🤘
i hope you have fun in little sahara! were leaving to oklahoma on the 11th so im not sure if we'll be able to ride with you. heres to hoping!
Very nice Pete looks good with the red and gold. Can’t wait to see the final touches.
It was awesome seeing it rip at the dunes!
New video while hunkered down in Milton?! Say it ain’t so. Glad to see the raptor progressing well.
that gold frame is loud dude , she stands out . the walk around video is going to be sweet 🤟🤟🤟🤟

Thanks for sharing your experience and information on your quad getting back together, stay classy my friend 😊

Hell yes🤙🏻 cant wait to see it shred this weekend!
The machine here is now known as iron maiden or iron man lol
ive got a vortex cdi on my trx 250r...I can't wait to see how it runs on my 380r. One year I'll make it down to OK.
Vortex is the best hands down
After riding it I'm super happy with the investment. The quad runs very crisp and clean 👌
Great video Pete. What is the ball park cost for them to Dino/Tune. Keep up the good work!
I want to say tuning sessions are around $400 but he generally spends 3-4 hours on the tune depending on the build and it's needs

Piston rings wear more the colder they are. 205 ain't hurting anything. Yamaha knows more....
