WHAT HAPPENED To The Most RANDOM NBA All-Stars Ever?

  • The NBA all-star game is meant to be a showcase for the BEST players in the world - LeBron, Giannis, Jokic… the true superstars of the NBA… but sometimes, it doesn’t quite work out that way. Because of weird quirks in the voting system, injuries, or just simply bad decisions… sometimes the most RANDOM players can end up with an all-star selection on their resumes… and it CERTAINLY stands out when you look at the history of the league.

      Then because the team was terrible they would get high draft picks which they would either squander with terrible choices or in some cases when they would get good players they would use them so poorly their career would fall apart or they would end up having to get rid of them. The league tried to get rid of the owner for many many years until finally he made some racist comments and they were able to force him out

    I dunno about Brook Lopez being random, he's had quite a few years he could have made it and was arguably the best player on a few playoff teams the first 3 Brooklyn years. Heck even last year he kinda deserved to be in the conversation. Devin Harris was pretty random in retrospect but that's one of those cases where you gotta wonder what happened because he had moves that year.

    • @jamespuso1627
      @jamespuso1627 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Indeed he is the Nets all time leading scorer. Though in fairness there, the person who previously held that record was Buck Williams, who I'm not really old enough to remember but was only like a career 12.8 point a game scorer, so that might not be as big a deal as you might think lol. Still, in the early 10s he was in the convo for best Center in the game. I think Shaq ranked him 2nd to Andrew Bynum one year and that was when Bynum was basically done and nobody knew that yet lol

    • @YuShawStang

      @@YuShawStang Yeah kinda, that depends on what you mean by random, cuz he definitely would have been a perennial all star and the best center of the 10s if not for injury so in that respect an all star appearance isn't random, but the fact that it was a 1 off appearance and then his knees gave out makes it seem kinda random. Kaman was a SOLID center... You didn't even need to expect him to have an allstar season, that was cool when he did, but he could have been a SOLID center on a championship team where he was like the 4th option offensively.

      I went to Central Michigan at the same time as Kaman, and one of my friends used to mess with his Wikipedia page. He used to add entries about various sports figures (mostly Michigan/ Detroit area athletes) owning or wanting to start a chicken farm. Lots of sites and publications ran with that like it was a fact. Even Esquire asked him about it. I wonder if he knows that the chicken stuff was started by some random 6'5" British guy in one of his math classes at CMU.

    I find you a bit harsh for some of them: Lopez was clearly deserving and had the reputation for being one of the best offensive bigs in the League (but lacked rebounding and defense), Kaman was kind of the same, and Bynum is more a "what if" than a "surprise all-star". They are not like Antonio and Dale Davis or Devin Harris or Jameer Nelson.

    nba is crazy especially now cause they dont let guys become veterans anymore, guys are quickly replaced by next draft class, more euro players taking already minimal spots , so theres alot of guys who make nba but just fall off or dont play at all or not long.. then theres some guys who manage stick around while but arent even that good or contribute that much ! it supposed be an elite league of best players in world, but theres alot that just cant cut it in the league ! so much of what you have deal with as a pro, has nothing do with how good u can play... and alot of kids cant do it
