Hello from Jonesville Texas. I've owned many receivers over the years and the 9500 is tops. I've owned R&S. Collins , Harris , JRC and others and this receiver is incredible.
Read some of the comments below. I agree, to me the EK070 sounds rather noisy given there is no preamp on. The Icoms do a good job even the older brownish one. Thanks for the video!
About the only receivers I have that you appear not to have are the RFT EKD 500, Philips RO-153, the Siemens CHR-531, the Rockwell Collins HF-2050 and the AEG Telefunken E1800A😊
Have you picked up a carrier at 4.94 MHz? I get fairly weak here in the Northeast, but I can pick up a few words using my MLA-30+ on my AOR-7030 receiver. That is with my rotator pointing that loop south.
That’s why I do these comparisons. Thank you for your comments. FYI, the 9000 was rebuilt by a genius rebuilder. I don’t know the mechanical history of the RS. Both radios are over 30 years old
OK, 12095 was the perfect station, showing a S-3 to S-4... Very weak signal, very readable with DNR and SYNC turned on.. The ICOM is the clear winner in many ways.. Just sounds better!!!! OK, now on to the IC-R8600!
sorry sir, there are *no* mechanical IF filters at all 🤣 the EK070 has one crystal filter at the first 81.4MHz IF followed by three swichable (standart version) crystal IF filters at 1.4MHz second IF. There are _no_ mechanical filters ;)
That first beacon you were listening to was N5TIT, in Denver, CO. Sounds pretty good on the 9500...
Nick back in the 80s there was lots to lisn to on shortwave and now iam 61yers I was born March 23 1963 my friend

Hi Randy, thanks for your comments!
There are all legendary receivers. I am learning to make antena and electronic repair, preparing all for my hobby at the age of retirement.
Nick your TH-cam videos are awesome my friend

I haven’t noticed a carrier there. I will check next time I am on.
From a collector' s viewpoint , I prefer the unique look of ic r9000.The RS seems more noisy

if possible try to test JRC NRD-93 I think it's the best receiver no.1
I would be happy to test a nrd 93, but you will have to send me one to test. I don’t have one
Van hou make the same video with the Icom 7300
Joan Netherlands
I would love to see it. Is Van Hou the name of the TH-cam channel? I searched and saw a couple vids on the 7300 but no comparison to other radios
i just wanted to say that, make this video again with the 7300. i think the 7300 outperforms any of these radios.
