  • This video shows a basic demonstration on how to use User Defined Attributes in Tekla Structures 2017. In this example, I use an out-of-the-box UDA to change the name of an assembly and then program that into some simple templates. It's full of Tekla tips and tricks for modeling and programming. Basic Tekla for beginners and intermediate users.
    I hope you find this video helpful and informative!
    Also, please consider subscribing to my channel (if you're interested in this kind of stuff)!
    Thank you!

    Great Video, I find UDA's a bit of a grey area, and I am trying to use them more; so I'm glad to see this video. Thanks.

      I used to think that too. It wasn't until recently that I started using UDAs more frequently. I glad I was able to shed some light on the subject. Thanks for the comment!

    Thanks for putting this premium quality video. I have used UDA in the same fashion to achieve several results the software does not offer by default.
    I have a request: could you please make a video on how you managed the main Tekla window and child windows on 4K displays with proper DPI scaling?

    • @CSWilsonDraws
      @CSWilsonDraws  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment! I don't actually have 4K monitors right now, however, I believe this is the year I'll be building a new system to run Tekla Structures. My plan is to also upgrade my displays to 4K as well, so that might lead to some videos.

    I like the videos mate. Got this Tekla 2016 from a mate as decided to leave technology so I have it. Now I am learning this without any text books or any help. So a few tips here been picked up. Cheers

      Yeah its only repetition. My struggle now is to modify the title block to put in my "Logo" and details... any ideas or references to your videos?

      When I first started, I used this video to learn about title blocks: th-cam.com/video/ZVOINN_dzM8/w-d-xo.html It's old, but the information is good and still relevant.

      Happy New Year! I agree that this request is interesting, but I'll need to research how to actually pull it off. A video series would definitely be an option.
      Thanks for the feedback!

    Hello mr Wilson, i dont have a "notes" tab on my user defined attributes, has this changed or is it because i am not using the US environment? Great videos btw, i have benefitted so much already after just one day.

    Hi Wilson,
    I appreciate your work. Could you please tell me how can I create a filter for the tables to obtain the following result: if the assembly contains only one part then the result to be style one table and if the assembly contains more than one part the table to be style two.
    Thank you!

      Once I wanted to make some text become visible or not depending on a single- of multi part assembly (a bit like your situation) and was advised to compare assembly weight to main part weight, if it is equal then it means that this is a single part assembly, if not means a multi part assembly, and depending on that to make text creation 1 or 0. Maybe this principle may also help you.

    Hello, is it possible to get user-parameter from inside a component into a template? With other words, I need to show in a specification some values of a custom component. This custom component is a seem-type component that builds up complete truss assembly, this truss assembly must be shown in a trusses specification, and in that specification I need to show some user-defined values that I put via component window.

    Hi I am searching solutions for handling preliminary mark.
    For example:-there are 20 beams having assembly mark of B1 and after 1st IFA submission there are some changes which decreases it's number of quantity so I want to track that changes beam, in which drawing it has been merge or from which drawing it was subtracted.....by prilimebry marks.
    Can you upload vedio regarding this.

      I'm not very versed in using the sketch editor, but here's a link to the TUA article(s) that may help:

    Do you know if there is a way to select specific text in the drawings based on the properties? Suppose I want to select just all my approver notes so i can move them or delete them from the drawings.

    • @CSWilsonDraws
      @CSWilsonDraws  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe that's possible since you can't filter out text on the drawings. Once the text has been place, it becomes a dummy object and the saved-name you used is no longer associated with it.
