Braemar residents enjoy the many contributions made by our volunteers. Becoming a Braemar volunteer is a great way to improve the quality of life for our residents while contributing to your local community.
The benefits flow both ways; our volunteers speak regularly about how much they gain from their volunteer experiences and the lasting friendships they form. Volunteers play a very important role at Braemar. We consider them an integral part of our team, greatly valued by staff and residents.
Benefits of volunteering
There are a number of benefits to volunteering regardless of the role you select. Some common benefits include:
Making a positive difference to another person’s life
Contributing to your community
Having fun and staying active
Meeting new people and making friends
Exploring new interests and developing new skills
Gaining experience for a career in aged care
Volunteers at Braemar will attend a comprehensive orientation program before becoming part of a caring, supportive and nurturing community
In the event of an accident all Volunteers will be covered by Volunteer Insurance
How can you contribute?
The role of a volunteer is varied and flexible enough to suit your availability and interests. It is important for our volunteers to be as engaged as our residents as this helps to build strong partnerships that last. You do not need a medical background and you would not be responsible for providing personal care.
Some activities currently provided by volunteers include:
Providing conversation, companionship and support
Assisting in social activities and organised events
Contributing a special talent or interest such as music, arts, crafts, storytelling, photography, speaking engagements or any other talent
