Mound Bayou | Medgar Evers Remembered | MPB

Mound Bayou, a small town in northwest Mississippi, was an all black community. Although Medgar Evers' job there was selling insurance, he really became fascinated with the way the Negroes were trapped in poverty. He began looking for a solution. Part of that was organizing local branches of the NAACP and by late 1953, the state had 21 chapters.
