That's an awesome video! Really good footage. I've found that if you can get between the sun and the fish they don't spook as easily. Fish can't look into the sun and see very well so they don't look that way as often.
I have the same cooler and use it as elevated platform the stand on and pole from I carry my cooler with the poles facing front and back instead of side to side it gives me an narrower profile to pole and cast round. I've built an 8 foot push pull that's a shallow water anchor also. Have a short video up on my channel. Dig the less is more for fishing. Find my self loading a sup on the boat run to a spot, anchor the boat and taking off on the sup into the skinny. It forces you to slow down and fish areas a little harder knowing you can't turn the trolling motor on or fire the boat up and blast out to a new spot.thanks for the video
Hey Luke, have you ever tried putting a Costa lense in front of your camera so we can see through the water? Not sure if it would work but itd be worth a shot
I've recently subscribed and have been watching your videos. I have a question about the L2Fish board you have. Is the size comparable to other flat boards and is it easy to do recreational paddling. I love the deck area and stability and it's advertised to be fast. Just curious if it's as maneuverable as other flat boards. I live in Clearwater and like the idea of buying a locally made board. Thanks
Lawren Downing I got a live2fish and love it... I take my dog with me and it maneuvers pretty good...(I don't really need to turn to fast at these speeds) lol it's a great board.
Just picked up an L2Fish recently. Love it so far. Do you usually go out without fins? The 9" ones they give you are a little overkill and prevent you from getting too shallow. I was thinking about picking up some Bonefish Hippies fins. I went out once in some windy conditions without the fins and it was tough sledding.
I have the bonefish hippies on mine and they work pretty good... actually, I just have one hippie fin on now because I somehow lost a screw to one of them and haven't had time to pick up a new one (I actually like how it handles best with just the one fin because it tracks well while still being able to turn sharply when needed).
It is a 23" push pole that I have for my boat. It's def longer than needed for a SUP. But it is nice to be able to cover a lot of ground with less movement. The only con is that it's tough to travel with.
@Salt Strong, would you think a 6-12 foot or a 9-17 foot extendable push pole such as the super stick would work well for a paddle board in shallow waters? I’m considering using an iSUP to mothership to shallow ponds in the Louisiana marsh and would like to find something that is portable. Would think the push pole would allow for covering more water in a shorter time frame with less fatigue than paddling. Your thoughts?
Luke, AWESOME footage! Immediately made me break out my L2fish for this weekend. Can you tell me where you got the platform, and did it make a difference in visibility, is it more stable than standing on a yeti? Keep up the great work.... Love your videos man!
That platform came with the used boat that I bought a while back, so I'm not sure where it originally came from. Yes, the added made a significant difference in visibility. As for stability, the platform would have no advantage over any other item like a cooler that have similar points of contact with the boat (the wider the points of contact, the more stable it'll be). Best of luck out on the water!
Awesome man! Where's this place? Im saving up for the bigger board. Worth the price. Where's this place at? Im glad ive subbed to this channel many months ago as well as on facebook. Great content.
This place is in Tampa, FL (Old Tampa Bay). We share the exact locations (lowest level of Google maps) of where we see and catch inshore fish every week to our Insider Club members, so I recommend giving it a try if you're in need of help finding new fishing spots that consistently produce. I need to spend more time with the E6X to know for sure. One thing I do really like about the E6X is that it's made in the USA which is unfortunately rare for fishing rods.
Check out the full blog on our website and post your question there. That way, our coaches can respond back directly with their input and recommendation. You can find that here: www.saltstrong.com/fishing-tip/sup-fishing-push-pole/

I understand y'all pride this channel on providing tips but if do more fishing or intertwine the two on each video this Channel could grow so much more , honestly the only reason I clicked on this video was for the mention of fishing , well I hope this channel the best of luck I still will be subbed hoping for more fishing vids in the future
Salt Strong I'm that you read my comment and didn't mean for the crude delivery of the previous comment , although I would enjoy more fishing in the future Best regards
I was using a Pflueger reel and a St. Croix rod as part of an expansive reel and rod review for our Insiders where I explain which rods/reels are worth the money and which ones to stay away from.
Always look forward to new Salt Strong content...thanks for your hard work Luke!!
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment. Tight Lines!

Very Awesome Brother!!
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment. Tight Lines!
I use the L4 from live and stand on the cooler to fly fish. The best board on the market
Cool. I still have not had a chance to test out the L4. Sounds like it's a nice rig. Tight Lines!

Great video. What length push pole is that? Were you happy with it or would you recommend longer or shorter?

Great video luke... what time of year did you go out to catch those fish?
This footage was filmed this past Thursday (March 9th).
Where did you buy the stand/chair
It came on my boat when I bought it used. I was told that the prior owner got the stand from Action Welding and Marine Fabrication in Ft. Myers, FL.
Which do you prefer, the E6X inshore or TFO rod you've recommended?
I need to spend more time with the E6X to know for sure. One thing I do really like about the E6X is that it's made in the USA which is unfortunately rare for fishing rods.
How to you secure the platform to the board?

What's your rod and reel setup?
Are you going finless on the board?
I had fins in during this video. But going fin-less may actually be better for push poling. I'll try that next chance I get.
what size is your e6x inshore rod?
The one I was using in this video is an 8 footer.

luke what rod and reel are you using now ? thats no your regular tfo and shimano combo
I was using a Pflueger reel and a St. Croix rod as part of an expansive reel and rod review for our Insiders where I explain which rods/reels are worth the money and which ones to stay away from.
i tell you what the tfo and the shimano ci4+ 2500 fa been really good to me ... thank you for the advise on getting that set up
My pleasure! Yes, that's a solid combo. Bonus is that it's so light that it actually floats if ever dropped in the water.
yeah i saw that $400 trout video you guys cough lol
Haha!
should have never moved from St Pete!!
