I have a fun hobby with a couple of friends, every wednesday we meet us at one friends house to listen to music , smoke pot, and eat pizza, we promised that we will be looking for good new bands to enjoy the moment, but every time we are there, we ended up listening to btbam, we´ve been doing this for 3 years. We celebrated Automata´s releases recently with double dosis of pot and pizza.
The transitions between different parts of the song are so seamless. It all flows so well for such a long song. It keeps the same vibe whilst changing it enough so it doesn't get boring and the guitar parts in this song are so incredible
my music taste evolves with this band's style i find myself listening to less heavy death stuff and enjoying melodic proggy stuff more and more as i get older
@@metalmanny666 I figured as much but I've just never heard material from them that sounded THIS much like Haken. Like the section I time stamped could have been ripped directly from Affinity but it still stays very true to BTBAMs sound if that makes sense
@@metalmanny666 I HAVE BEEN SAYING FOR YEARS I would KILL for a Wintersun cover if they ever did The Anatomy of Pt. 2 or something but I doubt they ever would
Alkalilee funny because I agree, but the last song i felt was their best chorus was actually Blot, the track right before this one technically. I love this more melodic sound from them.
Just bought this album. Thouroughy enjoying it. This song is sick. That solo at 12:39? Great guitar tone and style! This album sounds really good, great quality. THANKS BTBAM!
I've been listening to BTBAM for 11 years now since Colors dropped and I can say for certain they've gotten better with time. The stuff they're putting out now is on another level.
Legion4 Lyfe there new Music is really good but its all about there self titled. More of myself to kill and Fire for a Dry mouth Just shows a diffrent side to them
Been a huge fan since Colors came out, and BTBAM never fail to impress me... but this track alone is the best shit they've done since TGM. It's all the best parts of their old sound, with their new direction. Could listen to this all day.
yep i can already tell this song is gonna grow heavily on me.....at first it was a bit overwhelming, as any good song should be in this genre. but i like it more and more every listen....and The Great Misdirect is my favorite btbam.
Amazingly epic piece of music that draws you in and evokes many emotions. I haven't been listening to BTBAM lately, but I recently decided to check them out again and I am reminded why they will always be my favourite band. Their music holds up so well over time. When I'm 80 I'll still able to enjoy it.
This is my 1buddie's number 1 pick for 2018 so I have some high expectations because he's the guy who feeds me music when I fail to seek it on my own ... 00:01 wish I could play the drums like that. 1:10 I feel like this song could go on forever and I wouldn't mind. Thanks!
This is just outstanding. I know that i'll be killed for this but i really enjoy listening to the newer stuff a lot more than listening to the older stuff. Albums like colors and alaska have never captured me, to me they seem just aggressive and fast without a clue (ok now i can hear my funeral bells toll) but maybe it's just because i have to give them another chance trying to understand their message. Don't kill me for this, it's just my opinion PS: I'm italian so i can't speak english fluently... please don't kill me if i made any mistakes
It's hard to get into BTBAM in Colors or Alaska because in the beginning it feels like a bunch of noise but once you sit down and listen to those albums a couple times you start discovering the beauty and musicality off of them.
You're not alone, colors and Alaska had zero musical direction. Moments of greatness but mostly just a showcase of "look how complicated this music is"
i feel as though iam a sinner, this came out in july and iam now hearing this for the first time, maybe because automata is amazing, granted ive been listening since the great misdirect, tho i listen to every single btbam album throughout the week
Parallax 2 would be the most plausible, I think it has the most story to it, but then I really haven't delved into Coma or Automata. I really just want to see the madness that is Hypersleep Dialogues or Telos in a cinematic setting haha
Since the inception of the quintessential BTBAM lineup of Rogers, Waggoner, Waring, Anderson, and Briggs, every album since Alaska has been a logical step forward. As a musician, I'm continually taken aback by the consistency of their maturation, and progression of their ever variegated approaches. There are so many influences on display throughout their catalogue since Alaska, and the band have become ever more nuanced and subtle in the integration of these influences as the years have passed. I'm tempted to say that every new album is the best album they've ever released, but I honestly can't pick a favorite. This is one of those once in a generation/lifetime bands.
0:00 to 13:18 best part
What have we done to deserve this band? Incredible.
KBlank2287 ikr? BTBAM is better than everything in this world!
We are enduring pop and tgats our reward
For real.
I have a fun hobby with a couple of friends, every wednesday we meet us at one friends house to listen to music , smoke pot, and eat pizza, we promised that we will be looking for good new bands to enjoy the moment, but every time we are there, we ended up listening to btbam, we´ve been doing this for 3 years. you have good friends
Can i join too? :D
Friendship goals
The fucking life man!
but btbam is vegan and straight edge... lol
4:55 “Please pick up, pick up the phone, it’s been ringing, for years now, I’m so alone here, sensory bliss”
Why is this chorus so hauntingly catchy?
oh wow you're literally me!!!!
Soon to be my new ringtone
This is true sensory bliss. One of the best songs ever in the history of prog.
The transitions between different parts of the song are so seamless. It all flows so well for such a long song. It keeps the same vibe whilst changing it enough so it doesn't get boring and the guitar parts in this song are so incredible
The same goes for Voices of Trespass, those are really clean transitions.
You just described their entire discography. Phenomenal band.
There are good bands, great bands, and then there is BTBaM on a shelf all their own. Truly transcendental from music to story. Every single time.
I agree with 100% on that, it's fucking astounding.
Fully agree.
Tylko Yeah, that's real.
Aged 71 and new to BTBam ! . At the finish it’s back to the brilliant start again !
my music taste evolves with this band's style i find myself listening to less heavy death stuff and enjoying melodic proggy stuff more and more as i get older
I've become exactly the same. I very rarely listen to any metal that doesn't have a good number of progressive elements nowadays.
This is the best band that ever has been, and maybe ever will be.
King Crimson, though.
11:17 Such a goosebumps moment. Beautiful. So much emotion in Tommy's vocals.
These guys are too good. King Crimson should be proud to have inspired such a lightning in a bottle band like these guys.
A wonderful trip.
Bella Mavrus!
This might be one of their most consistently and progressively grooviest tunes yet.
1:12 this riff is damn good.
Hell yeah! That riff gets me pumped up!
YES
i can't stop listening to the first 2 minutes of this song. so good.
Absolutely RIPPIN'!!
With my Automata I and II playlist, I reserve some energy for a sprint interval at this part lol.
This band can do no wrong.
La genialità. Non c'è parola più appropriata per descrivere questo pezzo, come sempre questa band sforna capolavori incredibili ❤
Progy and melodic.I love that!
Greatest band ever
you sir.......are CORRECT!
Yup
I'd say equal with TOOL.
@@destined2sleep Tool doesn't come close IMO
The intro is probably the best one this guys made... And 4:20 is pure madness.
First time hearing this band. I'm sold
The section starting at like 2:15 is giving me some serious Haken-Affinity vibes and I love it
Joe Kratman They’re influenced by Haken.
True.
@@metalmanny666 I figured as much but I've just never heard material from them that sounded THIS much like Haken. Like the section I time stamped could have been ripped directly from Affinity but it still stays very true to BTBAMs sound if that makes sense
Joe Kratman Yeah it makes sense. I’m actually more curious to see some Wintersun in Btbam since Dusty is a fan of theirs.
@@metalmanny666 I HAVE BEEN SAYING FOR YEARS I would KILL for a Wintersun cover if they ever did The Anatomy of Pt. 2 or something but I doubt they ever would
this isnt a song.
this is a journey
One of the best choruses in their discography
Alkalilee funny because I agree, but the last song i felt was their best chorus was actually Blot, the track right before this one technically. I love this more melodic sound from them.
BLOT STILL NUMBER 1 BAYBEEE
Alkalilee yes
Blot and Lay Your Ghosts to Rest as well!
@Jeff T yeah the hook dude
Nothing like relaxing and listening to btbam after work
tenaciousjoe24 Absolutely right!
tenaciousjoe24 lol I didn't even have the patience to. Passed out hard.
Honestly this song put me to sleep, not saying it's bad but like a trance kind of way lol
@@TenaciousJoe24 ohh I feel the same! It's a pretty nice sleeping pill... relaxing & haunting in certain way
This is like BTBAM studied Dream Theater when they were at their finest and refined that even further beyond. Amazing stuff.
Totally this.
Drimtheatrcore
Was just about to sleep when I saw this. Automata II is coming sooner than I had thought!
oh damn that dual solo though! and that groove behind the solos!
Just bought this album. Thouroughy enjoying it. This song is sick. That solo at 12:39? Great guitar tone and style! This album sounds really good, great quality. THANKS BTBAM!
BTBAM is and always will be the best thing that happened in my music history. 🖤
I've been listening to BTBAM for 11 years now since Colors dropped and I can say for certain they've gotten better with time. The stuff they're putting out now is on another level.
The soundscape of this song is pretty neat, it is very open, but becomes really centered at certain moments.
the section at around the 8 minute mark is one of the most creative use of polyrhythms that I've heard,. this band never ceases to wow me
Between the Buried and Me and Obscura the same day, today is a good day.
whats obscura like? ill have to check them out.
Incredibly technical progressive death metal, in a league of its own
ill check it out man thanks!
Man this is amazing. Btbam is life.
Like all btbam it takes a few listens to digest, but I can now say Automita as a whole holds its own along with Colors and Paralax 2.
no love for the great misdirect? my favorite btbam. but parallax and colors are 1A and 1B lol.
trollmastersage finally someone who acknowledges the greatness of parallax 2. So many edgy dicks that still say silent circus is the best haha wtf
Legion4 Lyfe there new Music is really good but its all about there self titled. More of myself to kill and Fire for a Dry mouth Just shows a diffrent side to them
Maybe because the 60% of the band changed?
For me:
Coma ecliptic #1
S/T #2
Been a huge fan since Colors came out, and BTBAM never fail to impress me... but this track alone is the best shit they've done since TGM. It's all the best parts of their old sound, with their new direction. Could listen to this all day.
"Amazing"?? No! This song is far beyond amazing, this song is heavenly.
I'm getting some Great Misdirect vibes here. Reminds me a lot of Swim to the Moon and Disease, Injury and Madness. Fucking sick.
Kade Kalka yoooo part II really reminds me of the great misdirect too.
The intro gave me some option Oblivion vibes from coma ecliptic
Said the same thing. Around 1:20, all we need is a horse neigh. Love it though.
yep i can already tell this song is gonna grow heavily on me.....at first it was a bit overwhelming, as any good song should be in this genre. but i like it more and more every listen....and The Great Misdirect is my favorite btbam.
dude i totally agree. its voice of trespass right? the horns im not really into, but the 2nd half is amazing!
Sumerian! Get your shit together and book these boys in TN, we love them here!
The beginning reminds me quite of Option Oblivion
Jakub Karczewski There's a riff after the first chorus and that guitar section that is almost identical to a riff off of Coma (not sure which song)
One of them is at 5:52
I'm also pretty sure 6:11 came off of Coma Ecliptic
Nothing like Knit picking Brilliance...
It's probably on purpose
One of the greatest songs of all time.
One of their greatest 10-minute tracks ever
4:20 oh my god this is one of the best thing i’ve ever heard
Amazingly epic piece of music that draws you in and evokes many emotions. This is totally perfect. I fucking love this band.
One of the greatest songs I've ever heard... just, wow...
The best band of the last decade just continues to grow and get better!
Absolutely wonderful
Fuck, this complex structure and intricate composition with growling accent points make me feel pure pleasure!
Alien that just listened to this song: How would you describe this wonder?
Me: Sensory bliss.
This is my 1buddie's number 1 pick for 2018 so I have some high expectations because he's the guy who feeds me music when I fail to seek it on my own
... 00:01 wish I could play the drums like that. 1:10 I feel like this song could go on forever and I wouldn't mind.
Thanks!
BTBAM is one of the best bands of all time and I have been a fan over 13 years. Will never miss seeing them again live.
Listened to this song like 20 times already. Gives me goosebumps
Just completely epic on all levels
12:39 sounds so clean.
I feel like crying this is so good
The King Crimsom - Discipline tribute starts at 7:57
Love that intro, love that buildup, this song kicks
Tommy and his clean vocals have come a long way. I love how they put more of them in
Just incredible what a time to be alive!
Every song on this album a click ia a masterpiece???
If you mean Automata as a whole, yes, you are correct.
man, this is the prog greatness Dream Theater forgot how to do, i'm in absolute love
Just rolled up, then this, can't wait!
As is EVERYTHING from this band - EXCELLENT!
Don't kill me for this, it's just my opinion
PS: I'm italian so i can't speak english fluently... please don't kill me if i made any mistakes
Io invece ho adorato Colors sin dal primo ascolto, ma ti dico una cosa: si saranno ammorbiditi, ma la qualità è sempre stellare ;)
It's hard to get into BTBAM in Colors or Alaska because in the beginning it feels like a bunch of noise but once you sit down and listen to those albums a couple times you start discovering the beauty and musicality off of them.
Granaio 1700 Raga, ma perché c'è una fanbase così grande in Italia?
You're not alone, colors and Alaska had zero musical direction. Moments of greatness but mostly just a showcase of "look how complicated this music is"
Granaio 1700 nothing to apologize for, newer BTBAM is 1000x better than colors and what came before
Incredible!!
4:20 is soooo bangin
one of the most beautiful songs ever written. and my new fav btbam song! sorry SFP and STTM, THIS is the best btbam song!!
BRILLIANT,PHENOMENAL AND JUST SIMPLY FUKKIN MAGNIFICENT...PERIOD!!!
This song is an album in and of itself. So much awesomeness to digest.
*Maybe* their best song.
Love the mix on this album, its just perfect!
That little bit at 0:49 is soo dope
Best Prog of year !
Transition at 2:07 reminds me of Backwards Marathon but a little more aggresive
good call!
Reminds me of Tool/Floyd on steroids... phukn sic
I found this band from 2004 .brilliant Talented👍
I love how some of the parts in this song are reminiscent of Nova Collective. Probably had a huge influence on Briggs
This is fire!
0:48
AWESOME!!!
12:39 that outro though
YES
I'm missing most of Summer Slaughter tonight, but I will NOT miss BTBAM
Nicole Hammond you better not. Or else I’d be angry with you forever!
Song still gives me goosebumps
Alone at home listening to this and playin poker...AMAZING
This song on repeat forever
This is so beautifully crafted it makes me cry. Fucking outstanding!
1:42 that part is so sick
my fav part too
That's like Yes meets Emperor or something!
This music is magic.🤘🍀🏆

Hell yeah
EPICNESS
This is the best prog epic I've heard in a very good while
please pick up, piiick uuup theee phooone itssss been riiiinging
This song is fucking beautiful
Would love to see "automata" made into a movie. Same goes for parallax 2 and coma ecliptic.
Parallax 2 would be the most plausible, I think it has the most story to it, but then I really haven't delved into Coma or Automata.
I really just want to see the madness that is Hypersleep Dialogues or Telos in a cinematic setting haha
When I was in college I had to write a short story based on a song in a creative writing class. So, lol I chose Bloom xD It was a lot of fun.
@@BonkyChilliams They actually provide so much to work with in that 3 minutes haha
This song has a white walls feel to it as far as structure goes. I dig it.
