  • U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor discussed a wide range of legal, intellectual, cultural and even personal issues arising from her life and career during a discussion with NBC News correspondent Anne Thompson and U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Ann Claire Williams on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at the University of Notre Dame.

    I also have a bright mother but she lacks self confidence. I think that is something that is pervasive in latina culture. I am happy that Justice Sotomayor shares that about her life.

    She humanizes the seat in which she sit. She's is very wise and down to earth. I love listening to her speak!

    The idea that they have no ideological approach to deciding cases is laughable. How are we able to predict with near 100% accuracy how the liberal judges will rule (given that they never join the conservative wing on highly political cases) on guns, abortion, unions, etc?

      voxman77 Not necessarily. Sotomayor gave credence to the fact that a constructive dissent is better than no recourse at all. Given that their final analysis is primarily based on personal ideology they still have to base that opinion on the constitution.
