  • On today's #NCFWhittle we speak with Harry Saul Markham, a 24 year old writer who was cancelled by his publisher. Harry's book was deemed to be too controversial as it dealt with issues such as multiculturalism and Islam. Harry joins us to discuss what happened to him as well as the wider subjects his book deals with.

      The objective standard for judging the morality of any culture is the principle of individual rights - the principle that recognises the right of every individual to the freedom to act on his or her judgement in order to make his or her life the best that it can be in the full context of his or her particular set of life circumstances, providing that he or she does not violate the same right of others. Individual rights objectively conceived define and sanction a person’s freedom of action in a social setting. The extent to which a culture recognises and upholds individual rights is the extent to which that culture is moral and good.

    He's a nice kid who seems sincere and earnest but;-
    He needs to understand that the anti-semitic attack he experienced only mirrors what has been going on for decades, primarily to the white, Christian-heritage, working class. My people are attacked, raped and even murdered because of our identity and any attempt to frame it as it truly is - an outcome of the failure of mass immigration and multi-culturalism - is dismissed as racism.
    His acceptance of, and concern about, what he terms "anti Mus lim hatred' serves none of us. We already know from bitter experience how framing anything as "hatred" works against us and provides ammunition for those who truly hate us- by which I mean not just Is lamists but the hard left and even so-called liberals whose only answer to the issues brought here by Mu lims is that we shut up and try harder to be tolerant.
    And frankly, he's too late to the party. His ideas of pushing a new, so called "liberal multi-culturalism" are nothing new. We ordinary people who have been at the shitty end of the stick for decades in this multi-cultural experiment. We have paid for it in more ways than I can list here and received nothing in return but the derision and hatred of the middle class elites.
    It has failed. We know it. We had enough of it too long ago. It is time to put an end to this monstrous imposition on us.
    Now we are waiting for someone to lead us in the bitter struggle we face for our continued existence in our own land. He can join us if he wants or he can remain an irrelevance..

    I wish Mr. Markham well, but having listened up to him saying (about 4.50) “I’m in favour of maintaining multicultural society”, I left the rest of the video alone.
    One could say I ‘cancelled’ him, but the clip is still there; I simply stopped listening to someone whose basic argument diverted my line of thought from curiosity to disinterest.
    When one scans the shelves in a well known bookshop, one is able to discern quickly whether or not the book is worthy of reading fully and adorning the shelves at home. I regret that his former intended ‘publisher’ chickened out for reasons I abhor. I’m over three times this young man’s age and still have a functioning brain and, like many near to my age, are tired of the diminishing of patriotism and national identity - and especially the deterioration of our wonderful literature and language - entirely brought about by seedy politicians desire to ‘please all’.
    Multiculturalism - NO!! Come to Britain and share OUR culture - YES.

    Sorry, this guy lost me when he admitted to supporting multiculturalism. How any rational individual can believe that cultures, which are often widely dissimilar, can exist happily together is beyond me. And surely we have learnt this lesson only too well here in Britain. Our country is now filled with millions who not only do not share our culture and values, but, I am afraid, actually despise them and us. This has led to an increasing breakdown in social cohesion. Of course, we, meaning our politicians, are to blame. For years, they have celebrated the great myth of some sort of multi culti Utopia, failing to admit that the reality has been rather different, and in fact a disaster. Almost inevitable when they did not ensure that those who chose to come and live in our country were not made to understand that certain aspects of their own culture were neither welcome or acceptable here in Britain. Thus, we have often ignored or tolerated the intolerable. Misogyny, homophobia, forced marriages, and even such truly disgusting practices as FGM. Oh, and religious bigotry and extremism have grown along with the numbers arriving. The simple truth is that social cohesion is mostly founded on a shared culture, history, and values, they being the glue which helps hold us all together. When you have competing cultures, especially those semingly intent on recreating their own societies here in our country, then that is a hell in the making.

    • @dvanaestcestica1135
      @dvanaestcestica1135 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I get your point, multiple different cultures cannot exist together to any constructive degree. The best to hope for is for them to co-exist peacefully side by side, but not together - completely separately without overlapping. That's modern Canada for you, at least Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia (the most populous provinces). You still have one cohesive society on the level of laws, education etc, but not in the cultural sense, the real everyday life is organized around ethnic/religious closed communities that keep to themselves, their beliefs, vibe, and socially accepted behaviours, and accept no outsiders. As an immigrant myself, I came here with an extremely open mind and a naive belief i would be joining an incredible multicultural society and make a ton of friends with origins from the whole world. I ended up entirely alone (with my immediate family), as we were not accepted by other communities, and we didn't want to stick to just our own, that's almost as exclusive as any other.
      But I imagine it's different in the UK, and not even this kind of separate co-existence in peace is feasible.

    • @christinerussell113
      @christinerussell113 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @dvanaestcestica1135 Very different here in the UK. First , Britain is a tiny country, absolutely dwarfed by the size of Canada. The massive growth in population is therefore more apparent, people living separate and often conflicting lifestyles almost side by side cannot help but lead to resentment and conflict. But also, Britain is an ancient country, one with a long and proud history. A nation which, despite its size, has had an enormous impact worldwide. Yes, with mistakes made, as with all great Empires, but i would say, more good than bad has come out of this Island. Beginning with the Industrial Revolution, it was Britain which practically invented the modern age. Further, it was England from where parliamentary democracy, the rule of law, Habeas Corpus, Trial by jury, and the very notion of human rights were coined. All these, of course, now spread to many different countries. To have our history, culture, and traditions undermined by incomers, people who choose to come here for a better life, yet often seem intent on imposing their own culture and norms onto us, is unacceptable. This is now even impacting on our cherished and long fought for laws, even those which demands everyone be treated equally, now under threat. The reintroduction of blasphemy laws, specifically intended to appease one particular religious group, being almost inevitable. Yes, cultures which have nothing in common are not good bedfellows. We see the inevitable result, a breakdown in social cohesion, with violence increasingly possible. A global world, leading to a global meltdown.

      @@christinerussell113 Yes, I'm aware, I have a degree in European languages/culture, and besides, I'm European too, from Eastern Europe. While Western Europe was accepting in a largely uncontrolled way immigrants from oversees from vastly different cultures since the 90s, their door was firmly closed for the fellow Europeans from the East - that's how I, and my husband with a MS degree, ended up in Canada, instead in the UK, Sweden, Germany or Spain, for example. If they needed more labour force, they surely did have options with way better chances of integration than, in their majority, low skilled, and in many cases, practically illiterate refugees from warzones in the Middle East and Africa, who had never learned any foreign language in their lives, and with zero willingness to accept and adapt to the host country's culture. My heart breaks for Western Europe, but also for myself and my family, who could've made good citizens of any of the WE countries, law-abiding and well integrated, with the knowledge and respect of their second culture. Well...

    • @christinerussell113
      @christinerussell113 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @dvanaestcestica1135 I hate to break it to you, but Eastern European countries will soon be experiencing the 'benefits' of multiculturalism. That is if the EU get their way. Said EU being enthusiastic about the globalist agenda, which is for the abolition of the nation state, and open borders. So far, a number of East European nations have rejected immigration from outside of Europe, but having pressure applied, including threats of huge fines, along with the withdrawal of EU subsidies, they are, or probably will, soon cave in. The only way to save Europe is to work together to deny any further immigration from outside, and protect all of our borders. However, that is almost impossible, while an organisation like the European Union remains firmly in charge. We in Britain may technically be out of the EU, but due to that free movement so beloved by the Brussels bureaucrats, all those who enter Europe are free to travel around and across borders at will. With many then crossing from France to Britain. The French of course being glad to get rid of some of their unwanted guests, indeed the French Navy are actually seen escorting the boats filled with immigrants into English waters.

Rome had a multicultural setup too, but Roman culture had to dominate for it to survive and ended with the barbarian culture sacking Rome. One could also say the Ottaman culture ad to dominate Turkey and the rest of the Calaphate and when it was desolved, the Calaphate died too.
    If you want multicultures to work you must have a dominant culture to dominate and rule over the rest and prevent harmful diversity. That is what Parliment lacks. The ability to rule with its culture rather than be ruled by the loudest mob with a opposing culture.

    Those that may choose to change any of the texts will befall the ultimate punishment (Left Blank) The same punishment that befell William Tyndale ( 1st English Translation of the Bible after Martin Luther 1517 Luther - 1522)

    Those claiming that ‘anything goes’ are clearly on board with themselves and others being murdered, physically attacked, racially discriminated against, raped, tortured etc; also they are clearly on board with the existence of folk who act against persons perpetrating such behaviour. If they get *selective* about it, then they are affirming some hierarchy of values (whether supporting attachment to, or indulgence in, greed/lust, hate/enmity (including self-directed), self-deception/-dulling, narcissistic pride, aggressive rivalry, prejudice, or intending to lead away from such attachment/indulgence, or a mix); if additionally they do not admit this, they are deluded/blind.
    Fear of ‘Popper’s paradox’ may be fear for self-image, of loss of face (narcissistic pride), and of taking responsibility for ones volition and choices, combined with genuine perplexity. Taking responsibility for ones own volition ‘takes back’ ones power/energy (that would else remain fragmented in a face-saving mist of seeking ‘self-justification’); and one can see the responsibility of others for theirs.

    I do wonder if certain ideologies are narcissistic. Isn’t anyone brought up as Muslim taught that non-Muslims are “less than”? And even those that become Muslim later in life are thought of as less than those born into it. I read that somewhere and that was what woke me up to the dangers of becoming a majority Muslim country. It was also what makes me think it’s cult like. Please tell me if I’m wrong.

    I don't think the issue is one of British identity, let's stop blaming ourselves. Immigrants coming in much more limited numbers would automatically swim in and absorb British culture. A country without a dominant stable culture will not succeed. The problem is numbers of immigrants and the enabling of those who want to dominate and impose their own foreign culture and are in fact anti British and unashamedly. The bravery and backbone to call out such people is what is lacking to identify these particular groups and actively restrict them in the first place is what is needed.

    I shall tell you, what informs NATIONAL IDENTITY = Those of us who are White and who have hundreds (and in many cases, thousands), of years of Ancestry here.
    We are the TRULY BRITISH people.

      My understanding is that Britain is an Island with 3 Nations ,England, Scotland, Wales each Nation with its own distinct culture. Together with Northern Ireland which comprises of 6 counties in the North East of the island of Ireland they constitute the State of the United Kingdom.

And no disrespect to any fine and beautiful immigrants, who are law abiding and hard working here, but obtaining a British passport and being granted British citizenship, does not make one truly British. And being granted a passport and citizenship, is something that I feel aught to be granted on a 10 year non permanent, but renewable basis (to those who have proven themselves good immigrants). ... Whoever the hell decided that a non indigenous person can become someone British overnight, by granting them a passport and citizenship, was truly a traitor to our people.
      If I was born in China, would that make me Chinese? Of course it wouldn't. And any of China's rich cultural heritage, would have absolutely nothing to do with me.

      Yes, I am a Nationalist (of sorts), without a political home.
      However, I believe a new type of Nationalism based upon the kind of administration that Tibet had prior to the Chinese invasion, and that current day Bhutan has, is the type of Nationalism the whole world needs.
      There is nothing wrong or racist about any people wanting to preserve their own culture and heritage, in their own Ancestral homeland.

    This wasn't the most interesting interview and I'm not clear his book would have had anything to say which many of us already think. There are no new ideas and he offers no new evidence. And to be honest, I'd check the authenticity of the cancellation. I can't put my finger on it, but something doesn't feel right.
    I respect Israel's right to defend themselves against terrorism. But in this context, Israel isn't a shining example of free speech. They are more democratic than many Middle Eastern countries, yes, but by European standards, not only do their senior ministers routinely stir up violence and hate speech, but at the same time, they arresting poets in Palestine and routinely murder journalists. I'm not saying Egypt or Iran are any better. I just think we should tread carefully when we make friends. The politics of the Middle East isn't a question of working out who the "good guys" are. None of those countries can hold a candle to our standards. None of them even aspire to.
    I also think that, inasmuch as the left has allowed Islamists to infect the Pro-Palestine protests (which has definitely happened,)
    some on the right have likewise smeared perfectly legitimate pro-Palestinian free speech as "anti-Semitism" or "support for terrorism".
    There is a need to distinguish free speech from hate speech on both sides.
    The discussion which is wanting is an even-handed audit of the brutal over-generalizations conducted both sides.
