- On today's #NCFWhittle we speak with television screenwriter, novelist and Spectator columnist Gareth Roberts best known for his work writing for shows such as Dr. Who, The Fast Show, Emmerdale and Coronation Street. Gareth's new book is "Gay Shame: The Rise of Gender Ideology and the New Homophobia": www.amazon.co....
Only a few years ago, it seemed that the fight for gay rights was won in the UK: legal equality was achieved, prejudice rapidly dying out. Mission accomplished, right?
Wrong, argues Gareth Roberts. Homophobia is making a major comeback under the guise of the ideology of ‘gender identity’. The enforcers of this new creed insist that attraction to people of the same sex is ‘hateful’. They argue that effeminate men and butch women can’t just be gay, but must ‘really’ be trans. Worse, this ideology has colonised the gay rights movement, capturing institutions like Stonewall and the gay press completely. Anyone who disagrees risks professional suicide.
So what happened to the funny, grown-up culture, truth-telling and knowing irony of many gay men? How and why was the older gay rights activism, which gifted such progress to homosexual people, hijacked?
In this passionate, witty polemic, Gareth Roberts answers these questions and argues that we need a new gay liberation movement. Order here: www.amazon.co....

I’m not sick of hearing about it, what I’m sick of hearing about is how oppressed and hard gone by they all are. It’s June and every major city has a festival or parade, every major corporation has a rainbow on their logo. Every store selling merchandise. Rainbow flags everywhere. A whole month while our veterans don’t get more than a day. Stop saying you’re oppressed! People who are actually oppressed are unseen and uncared for.
Peter, keep doing this. I know you will anyway. I'm not LGB, I'm an ex Muslim and I've become free from a vile ideology and free from a revulsion of virtually everyone who doesn't belong to the culture I did. Now all I want to do is support my Muslim LGB brothers and sisters, as well those of other faiths or no faith.
Best wishes and a lot of admiration for your courage. ❤
I am a gay ex muslim convert and I agree with you. I was a christian then I turned muslim and now I am an agnostic. I just don't want to fall in any ideologies that does not make sense. So no believing in 100 genders nor transitioning kids. Though I believe people have the rights to dress how they wish without claiming that what you wear is a gender. Also, people have the rights to transition, as long as they are 18 and above.Just like in religion, I do not believe in child marriage and sex slavery.

@@cungzjohnjohn122 I agree, people have the right to make their own decisions when they reach adulthood. But until they do, their parents should have the right and the freedom to protect their children from making decisions they might regret in a few years time. I am also concerned about parents who cannot accept that their child might be, or is LGB, and have tog along with making them 'normal' The intensely homophobic regime in Iran carries out non consensual 'gender affirming' surgeries, primarily on gay men in order that they can be regarded as women and have sexual and romantic relationships with other men.
There are instances where this has been lauded by trans activists and their allies in the West. This is madness. They are celebrating a human rights violation and portraying it as trans friendly. How much more do they need to know in order to see this as insane?
I'm glad that you were able to choose your own path on your own terms.
Thank you for sharing your fight.
Being homosexual and trans are not the same thing. Stop lumping the trans people in with us!!!
@charlesb7019 as outsider, straight & an older woman. I think modern homophobia is insidious compared to homophobia of my youth. Also, I think there is a million miles between homosexuality & transgenderism. Stay safe!
They're actually completely opposed to one another. If male and female aren't objectively real, then sexual orientation doesn't exist. Hence, "male lesbians" complaining about the cotton ceiling. Gays back in the closet. It's infuriating.
"Pride" has been hijacked. It's all just homophobia, misogyny, and child endangerment now.
Reevaluating the concept of pride parades may be worthwhile, given their changing importance. Whether one is straight, identifies with mythical beings, or is gay, the question arises: do all these labels, letters, and pronouns truly benefit or unite us? They appear to contribute to division and tribalism, akin to the current political climate. Some might argue the necessity of any parade at all, which is indeed a valid inquiry.

Thank you very much for covering this topic. Being a gay German guy, i have noticed left-wing homophobia for years.
Gay and bi men are regularly beaten up in major German cities and you are not allowed to point out that much of that is due to islamic influence and migration from islamic and african countries.
But also parts of the "queer" community are quite homophobic.
- A non-binary Swiss author describes gay identity as "proto-fascist" - book wins German and Swiss book prize.
- Pansexual Mr Gay Germany says desiring only men means "walking through the world with blinders on". Even worse, others call homosexuals "genital fetishists" for not loving "all genders".
- An asexual person speaks in German podcast about how love and sexuality are too visible in the LGBT community. She is also bothered by the slogan “Love is Love”.
- A "queer book" states that gay men become oppressors of marginalized groups by coming out.
'Vengeance is Mine', sayeth the Lord.
Wasn't it GLAAD who recently said that the word "homosexual" was offensive?
Pro lgbtq=anti lgb
The pro-Islamic and third world'ist ideology of the left will supersede their prior gay friendly "agenda"... I am a straight male, but I think it is bonkers...
I’m bothered by the slogan ‘love is love’ too. We know it means age doesn’t matter. Grooming is a scourge on humanity.
@@personalcheeses8073that slogan does not cover pedophelia. Considering kids can't consent.
Fetish is not gender dysmorphia
Well said 👏
Dysmorphia is not the same as dysphoria, although one could easily argue that it shares the same root cause as other psychological distresses such as anorexia, bulimia, and various other factors in possessing a warped self-image. It's also notably relevant in appreciating that you cannot separate T from being a state of mental unwellness, and that you thus do not participate in someone's mental distress by claiming that their warped self-image, beliefs, or delusions are in any way 'valid'. Hence why the legal lies and demand for social participation needs to come to an end.
You are gross. Everything you don't understand isn't a fetish.
@@Lycaerixwhat's the treatment for this
Excellent discussion. The points being made here are quite likely to be held by a lot of gay men and lesbians. Unfortunately, many of them are to frightened to actually speak publicly about it. There is no TQ in LGB. Same sex attraction has nothing to do with transsexuals or transvestites.
100% facts. No one dare say the truth for fear of being cancelled. People have lost jobs by being gender critical.... which is actually a protected characteristic in the UK. Obviously some protected characteristics take priority over others 🙄
This is where I see the clear distinction. LGB is about sexual attraction, and I can even see poly, pan and asexual are still apart of the alphabet. However, being trans or gender fluid has nothing to do with sexual orientation or attraction. It’s the only part of the alphabet that isn’t revolving around sexual attraction, which is why it doesn’t make sense for it to be included.
I'm one of many gays who are fed up with transgender ideology.
Yeah. If you're gay and believe in only two genders you're the weirdo nowadays. If you believe that gender medical therapies for for children should not be a thing you're a horrible person.
Check out an evil doctor by the name of John Money who was behind the monstrous lie of gender Ideology.
It also allows otherwise heterosexual individuals to join the LGB party and claim an “oppressed” label.
Playing the victim while victimizing others is the modus operandi of the oppressor classes.
this is why heterosexual people will call themselves "nonbinary" and then go around claiming to be "queer" and "lgbtqia"
Aka: Clout
So many of them!!!!
It is infuriating.
Straight people identifying as "Queer" is particularly galling. A word many gay people were called as a slur growing up.
I honestly think we need to start a movement to separate from all of this nonsense. I'm Gay. I have NOTHING to do with the alphabet soup.
Yes, same here!!
It's under way! Check out the LGB Alliance in the UK, US and a few other countries.
Try #3 to post this. YT is automatically deleting posts that apparently use the word g@y or L*B*G Alliance.
LGB Alliance orgs are growing. First launched in the UK, now there are chapters in the US and a few other places.
Correct! And the movement can be called "The Gay Community". And that's it!
As a gay man in his late 30s, I'm glad I was spared from the gender bollocks when I went through puberty in the late 1990s / early 2000s.
You're about my age so it seems that we dodged a bullet by inches.
Did you require/need them?
I’m 60 and relived as well, I was 18 when AIDS was first being reported, and I thought what fresh hell is this? Well, this is another, and I pity the children who will be chemically castrated, have irreversible surgeries, pumped up with cross sex hormones. This really is sad.
My little granny's group were all little tomboy back in the day. If the transgendering fad was going on 60 years ago we'd have all been neutered and our 18 amazing children and too many to count adorable grandchildren would never have existed.
@@shmataboro8634 How would that have happened are you saying your parents would have supported that? Or are you imagining in some alternative world where being a tom-boy as a child 60 years ago is the same thing as being a trans-boy? Just so you know, Trans-men can also give birth!
The LGB is a $3 Trillion industry in the US.
Corporations run by a few billionaires have benefited from this industry.
The push for the T (in lgbt) has been from the Top, by 'transgender' billionaires.
But the only way to make profits from the 'T' was to push the false assertion - - that the sex binary of male/female was defunct (there is no profit in it).
So now there are hundreds of genders and gender clinics all over the world and all the rest of the paraphernalia - - leading on to the brave new world of 'transhumanism'.
This kind of damaging nonsense is fed from above.
It is not a grass roots movement.
Pride month is an example of made up propaganda by the globalists to control and benefit from the gays. I am gay but I have no need for the rainbow flag or Pride month. Even the rainbow flag is defaced now. The gays need to take back their community. The globalists have destroyed feminism and they are going after the gays. Trans are invading women's spaces and sports. Transitioning procedures are erasing gay kids. There is a pro gay rights group calls Gays Against Groomers (GAG). They want to protect gay kids from transitioning.
I remember reading an article about how those rich gats were funding the transition clinics and pushing those hormones on kids

Pretty sure the higher ups of this Trans pyramid were actually caught joking about that..
Back in the early 2000s I was great friends with 2 gay men. 1 of them had to marry a woman in the 80s because of the situation at the time. Anyway they used to take me to gay bars all the time and nobody cared. Was a brilliant time of my life even though I’m straight. This lovely man could see where the LGB was going, even back then. He can’t even attend pride marches anymore because in his words ‘I didn’t fight for gay rights to have someone wear assless chaps in front of kids’. He was also highly critical of the trans movement stating a lot of what’s said here. It’s getting rid of gay men or lesbian women. Plus it’s playing up to the stereotypes we tried to get rid of I.e cars for boys dolls for girls. And finally it’s a real affront to women. Men in dresses invading our spaces. What about our rights? So it’s transing away the gay and patriarching women’s rights. Wrong side of history

Gareth's idea of calling people 'sex realist' is far better that 'gender critical'. So let's all call ourselves 'sex realists'?

There is nothing the censors come after more on here than when you say we must prioritize children over perversion.
which means that the perversion of shaming and hurting gay kids is wrong.
@@johnl5316nobody should shame or hurt anybody. But it not clear that kids are either any or straight, seeing that they don’t have adult level sexual desire yet.

How is prioritising children over perversion, supposed to be shamming or hurting gay kids? The shame is obviously NOT directed at the kids, but the perversion of adults. How do you read a clear message advocating the protection of minors from the perversions of adults as hurting kids? That sounds perverse in and of itself.
@@johnl5316 I have to watch how I say this. This stat doesn't even get into youth over twelve and less than eighteen who are preyed on and groomed.
Any kind of perversion eventually leads to more extreme behavior and eventually pedophilia, if the person does not turn away from what perversion is. It is a willingness to seek one's own lust in an objectively dysfunctional way, against the objective purpose of nature, being willing to harm oneself and others to do so. Gluttony is an example of perversion of a non sexual kind for example. Homosexuality is just one kind but the most prominent kind that is pushed on the public as a degrading tool.
Check out Unwin's "Sex and Culture." He doesn't even get into homosexuality but shows how the most perverse a society is the more likely it is to be unstable and collapse.
Last week, I posted on Facebook details of a Spanish book which had a drawing of a group of people, each with 30ft penises, all coiled together, and one was pointing at the exposed bottom of a baby boy. Simply for pointing out this CSE propaganda that had been published in Spain.

Yeah, because they’re debt slaves. Large mortgages etc, they dare not oppose for fear of losing their jobs, and that fear comes from the top - from Government. Which makes the whole thing pretty sinister.
Sheeple are afraid to question things because they get attacked on social media, called ‘transphobic’ or bigots and everyone else decides they don’t want that on them and keep schtum.
Could it be down to the explosion of Narcissism that's taking place? So many people have become their own island only accepting those who fit their own personal criteria rather than having a broad church attitude
It's exactly that. The entire LGBT alphabet mafia and Pride is based on this narcissism.
That doesn't always mean narcissism. People's behavior seems to be getting worse, and they seem more arrogant. I'm not going to accept someone like that, because they're draining to be around.
As an older gay man myself, the greatest prejudice and discrimination that I have ever endured has been from (within) the LGBT community, far more so from “homophobic” straights but from other gay men, prompting me to cut all ties and support with and for the LGBT community 18 years ago since coming out in my teens in the 1980’s - back then, older gay men of my grandparents generation were totally against the changes that we were seeing back then and among many other things such as gay pride, were also against the decriminalisation of homosexuality - perhaps they were right, as being gay being made legal has been a “double edged sword” as we have witnessed the double standards and hypocrisy of the modern day LGBT community which has tarnished its own reputation, such as with “drag queen story hour” - as a result of thier behaviour and especially that during Covid, I am now totally opposed to any forms of sex education, both straight and gay, in any school setting, especially in Primary schools, which is totally inappropriate in primary schools - I don’t believe that destroying childhood innocence at primary school level can be justified or explained away by saying that it’s a generational thing, as I believe that basic standards of morality and decency don’t need a generational or a religious component to remain timeless and relevant, as doing what’s right surpasses all religious, cultural, moral or generational boundaries - those that are pushing these demonic and satanic ideas in the infiltrated, hijacked and ideologically captured LGBT community are going to set the gay community back centuries in terms of gay rights and equality and are storing up trouble for our community in terms of an anti-gay backlash, especially from the Islamic community
Legalisation was necessary but there should have been no tolerance for ideologues. Just keep up general morality and be part of society.

As rightly stated, the L, G and B part of it is purely and simply, down to one’s sexual preference - everything else is down to identity tagging…where we now have people “identifying” as cats, dogs, faeries and, for all I know, a chintzy sofa - which is insanity. In current year and current (media approved) mindset, the lunatics HAVE taken over the asylum.
It's not a "PREFERENCE| FFS. You should know better than to use a term that bigots like to use to say homosexuality is a "PREFERENCE" and so you can change to straight any time. It's pathetic that you yourself haven't learned it, STILL!.
@@Rage_Harder_Then_Relax Jesus, calm down or you’ll have a coronary! It’s just words - or, if you will, semantics. Ok, for YOU I used the wrong term…a thousand apologies to your sensibilities. For your information, I’m a 60 year old gay guy who has no issue with whether people use “preference” or other term: for many years - probably more than you’ve been alive for - LGBT people had bigger fish to fry than a wrong teen of phrase. It doesn’t work for you - that’s fine. It does work for me - that’s fine also.
Did this guy say that Homophobia was not imbedded in Islam? As if in medieval European Spain Gareth could walk around gay as the day and not get thrown off a cliff?
His book is wonderful, highly recommended.
This is a very captivating topic. I'm gay and in my 30s, and now, I have been approached by FTMs, who are offended that I'm not attracted to them. I wish the best for everyone, but I am attracted to natural masculine men. So I've witnessed the shaming of gay men because we revere masculinity.
The amount of power that can be gained by championing the cause of the transgendered people is greater than the amount of power to be gained by championing the cause of homosexuals. Therefore those who care only about power--who comprise a large number of people who championed the gay cause--have abandoned the mine that's been worked out in favor of the mine that's still yielding pay dirt. That they have to forget everything they said fifteen minutes ago is immaterial to them. Do not expect people who are after power to be consistent or honest. Those are rational virtues, and the will to power is irrational.
Quotable.
I am an old school progressive liberal and agree with all that was said today. Thanks!
Great chat. I'm glad to hear there are intelligent people on this side of the argument.
Nothing intelligent about a man who thinks he's gay. Especially an old one at that.
That was a fascinating conversation. It's very interesting to hear a gay man speaking critically about the current alphabet people. He mentioned that the BBC is drenched in (wokeness). The BBC are horribly biased.
It wasn't so interesting or fascinating for me because I'm already aware and knowledgable about much of what he said already. But 10 years ago I wasn't... we are all on different stages of our journey, whatever age we are. But that you're watching such channels, posting comments there and presumably reading others' comments too (I've learn more from reading comments than from the content of the vids, generally) then you're on the right track. 👍 Also, I'd recommend participating in 'live chat' streams too (if you haven't already) - that certainly boost one's education acceleration too, and you'll get to know like-minded people too - rather than just random comments from annoymous posters. All the best! 👍
The worst thing is that the Gay Rights movements are completely on board with this! Pushing and influencing legislation around it. The other day I had a tiff with my local movement about using the word "Queer" how I no longer want to be in any group that wants to call me that. Their response was, well, get with the times or get out.. We really need to get together and make our voices heard!!

Most of the flavors to the rainbow collective are catered for, it's only a matter of time before the MAPs are added. Probably won't get them till they have brought in a cashless society first to stop people rightfully kicking off and protesting about it (threat of bankruptcy and ruination if you do etc).
Men who would rather be with little girls than other men are not part of our community. I still want reparations for Roman Polanski getting an Oscar over Rob Marshall and Eminem (the Anita Bryant of rap) stealing one from Kander and Ebb with a "song" that didn't even have a melody.
Lionel Shriver a few weeks ago spoke about how gay marriage was initially seen as being the last civil rights cause of the alphabet people, but of course, it wasn't, which is why the Trains movement was born as another struggle to fight. The point is to have a constant cause to fight for. What would be left after that is MAP ("love is love") and after that animal "friendship" that likely involves peanut butter. The point is complete adult hedonism no matter who or what gets hurt.

5:10 ‘Now, of course, people would say… the problem is they [boys who like doing girly things] are just women in men’s bodies’. It’s probably worth pointing out that the people who would say this don’t actually exist. Furthermore, from my experience the people who claim that they do exist just tend to insist ‘yes they do exist. Educate yourself’ or to cite individual examples of other people claiming such people exist, rather than direct evidence of such people actually existing.
1:40 "...and they didn't seem to have any of the baggage."
Of course, in my day, you'd never say a gay man didn't have any baggage. You had to be a little more cryptic. We'd just say 'Tinky-Winky left his handbag in the closet.' 😜

Pursuing woke ideology for me is like opening the pandora boxe. There is no limits to pandemonium.
I am married to a transwoman. We were married as a straight heterosexual couple 25 years ago. She was always attracted to girls, but suffered dreadfully from gender dysphoria. In fact a few people encouraged her to date guys, they thought she was gay because of her feminine demeanor. She wasnt interested at all. So now she is a transwoman who is still attracted to women, so in effect has become gay. So this theory does not make sense at all. Gender dysphoria has nothing to do with being straight or gay, its a neurophysiological difference where the brain is a different gender to the body.
The new Doctor Who show desperately needs your writing skills Gareth..
I wonder if all this is influenced by Islam in that as long as a gay man has the surgery to transition he can then live with his partner as a woman.....or else ....
What it's influenced by in the west is $$$. The medical gender industry is worth over $5 billion a year and growing rapidly. These poor people become medical patients for life, even detransitioners.
Enjoyed Gareth Roberts’ writing for Doctor Who and Sarah Jane Adventures back in the day, very good writer. I wonder what he thinks of the state of Doctor Who now, and how Russel’s running the show into the ground?
That's a big part of why I clicked on this video. Does he go into his thoughts on the current iteration of the show, do you know?

With a brother, extended family and friends that are gay--and well past the half way point in our lives on earth--they see that these woke, progressive (regressive in practise) trans activists have poisoned the well of wide spread LGB acceptance. Over the last 30 years, most straight people in the west have come to embrace/accept/tolerate that all people are equal and deserve a life of just being themselves, with the same rights and privileges as us straight people. Now, the perfect storm of unchecked academic fantasy research into gender identify, access to social media, and a dire shortage of critical thinking including an understanding of history and science, the woke madness has emboldened conservatives to go after the whole alphabet soup of progressives.

This has happened before. It’s strikingly similar to what happens in places like Iran or South Africa (in the mid-20th Century). Alan Turing was forced to take drugs very similar to the ones being used to “fix” trans children before his suicide.

There was a time back when the T was added to LGB, when gay men and lesbians could have thought T through to the end. This is not a surprise. This book is still important, to stick a pin in this moment. Fitting along with the Cass report.
Nobody thought it would be anything greater than a niche within a niche, and nobody thought they would subject children to this. Not only that, nobody thought that they would use the same language of anti-gay religious fanatics, and then accuse us of using that same language when we called them out for using that same language.
13:50 if we're coining new phrases, another one...
"Biolphobia": an irrational aversion to biological reality (as a concept), and/or to those for whom biological reality is important.
Those for whom biological reality is important, can find biolphobic ideas troubling, distressing, or offensive.
Many adherents of the new gender ideology are biolphobic.
But by no means are all trans people biolphobic. Gender dysphoria and biolphobia are very different concepts.
Gender dysphoria is when you feel very uncomfortable about your own body and if the condition persists you may feel better presenting as the opposite gender, even living that way full time. Society had over the last few decades started to become far more accepting of people like this. But that progress has been hampered more recently by confusion with a new idea far less worthy: Biolphobia. Biolphobes reject the very concept that everyone's body is either male or female, and/or that that is important in some situations.
As an evangelical Christian my only problem is “gay marriage” I don’t believe the government has the right to redefine marriage. Gay people already had civil partnerships which gave the same rights. Also I remember we were told at the time that gay people did not want marriage because it was straight patriarchy stuff!!!
My pal was against it even though he’s gay because it interferes with separation of church and state

So funny to remember Hatley Cropper from Coronation Street. A trans woman (born a man( played by a female actress who was pregnant at that time! Not controversial at the time and nor was Val McDermits Wire in The Blood's Mermaids Singing (atrans woman as a serial killer).
The actress, sorry, actor, who played Hayley, subsequently apologised for not being a transsexual woman, and was understanding of people who weren't appreciative of her not being trans, etc. That means she apologised and begged their forgivneness. I'm not sure whether she got it or not, but she tried to make up for her sin by becoming a dedicated trans ally. She might never be a good enough one, obviously, but she's a useful one.

There's an argument though that the two 'groups' (gay/trans) share common sources of prejudice to bring them together - and that each does impact the other as there has always been gender fluidity within gay scenes throughout history. I think of Russell T Davies, the current Dr Who show runner, who has a considerable platform or even Peter Tatchell, both argue for the coming together of gay and trans rights/activism. I do worry the alignment is far too simplistic in both political and philosophical terms. Trans as an ideology can find itself in conflict with mainstream binary thinking about sexuality and the fact that the gay movement has not wholly embraced non-binary ideas around gender - as well as radical feminism, as we've seen most publicly with JK Rowling.

Why are we sitting around talking about this garbage like it matters and like more than a handful of people are sitting around thinking about it or are actually going to even attempt to incorporate it into their life? If you’re so sure that it’s right and such a great thing to do, just do it, shut up and stop looking for people to validate you. When people truly believe that what they are doing is right, they have no need to discuss it in an echo chamber or have everyone constantly telling them that they are right.
What a fascinating discussion.

The sexual is political ( in the sense of Carl Schmitt ) and profitable, the dissolution of identity perfectly lines up with the unimpeded flow of capital. You cannot critique mass colonization, demographic substitution, the attempted genetic extinction of Europeans or the commodification of human identity, without a reasoned critique of capital, one predicated on the sanctity of certain notions of identity.

If words like 'Islamophobia' and 'transphobia' are quite rightly decried as junk terms used purely to shut down criticism and discussion of certain topics, then why are words like 'homophobia' or 'xenophobia' any different?
I've been puzzled for years watching people on the Right - or just the non-woke side of things - dismiss the phoney medicalisation of certain opinions in this way, while being more than fine to go along with it with regards to other topics. It doesn't even make sense as a kind of synonym for 'bigotry', as you're effectively saying that someone's beliefs are irrational, and therefore out of their conscious control. But apart from anything else, to give credence to some of these terms while dismissing others out of hand is completely inconsistent.
As was hinted at in this video, if you let your opponents set the rules in terms of what language you use, you've lost before you even begin.
Because homophobia and xenophobia is black and white. The current context harms anyone who says anything and stops a conversation happening and it's an immature tantrum fueled dismissal and transgender don't exist it's an occult ideology, they've tried to harm children and if you use nature and reality you're a criminal.... That's kinda everything wrong with that. Its a loophole to farm money off of harming innocent people
And again some people aren't homophobic some gays can be oversensitive but no one's stopping anyone from talking and communicating
What rubbish. I am a gay man and I am completely open to transgender and other people in our circle. Stop the reactionary nonsense.
