I get my sx v5 tomorrow. I'd heard the creaking was problematic so here's hoping 😢! Ben drooling over these bikes for too long had to pull the trigger.
@@bobthebiker3050 I would hope that's the case and had it work on numerous bikes, but according to Commencal is the spacers aren't installed it wouldn't help.
@andrerichard628 And how is the bike? I have a very hard time deciding between V5 and SX. I own an older meta 29 2020, which has a bit dated geo for an enduro bike, but it's a full 29 and climbs well. I am afraid that SX will be total pig and V5 will be too similar :) Unfortunately I ride both fast/rough and tight/steep things and all needs to be ridden up.
@bobthebiker3050 This is my 5th mountain bike and it's creaking already by the 4th ride that's not complaining that's a failure on Commencal' part to properly set a bike up. I've had 2 other DTC bikes and 2 Specialized none of which has had these problems arise so directly. I do love the bike though and intend on working the issue out but am not too stoked to have to do so. It wastes my time and likely money.
You have an opinion on tires? My experience is maxxis still king, yea all my maxxiss have wobble but the feel is still the best compared to contis or schwalbes. The casing doesnt feel as “dead” even on the dh casing as other options
@@DandyHippo I’m still a fan of Maxxis overall. I’ve tried a few this that are good but still not Maxxis level. I still have not tried the newer Conti stuff.
@@NICADV gotcha. Tried contis again today on someones bike at the park, and heres the breakdown. Argotal/kryptotal. Contis roll faster than maxxis, apparently last almost twice as long but the casing lacks the feel maxxis has. Feels dead and boring, makes riding less fun and "feely." Conti is the good wife who has a decent job and is the overall stable choice, but maxxis is the dirty junkie mistress with the gorilla grip you never wanna let go even if she squirms a lot
@@Conch-u2m it weights over 2lbs more in most builds, so it is noticeable. However, the Meta V5 climbs really well so I wouldn’t call it a hustle by comparison.

@@ostankovalex1176 no argument with the last point, however the Slash 8 is 400 more 800 more currently and while it does have some XT they skimp on the cranks and more importantly brakes and tires. It’s crazy with the creaks, I ride the v4 Meta SX and it is silent as can be. A bit of a hog but yeah.
Another great vid; you should add a WAO Arrival and Canfield One.2. I think you'd be impressed with both.
That Arrival looks real cool. I saw the TRD painted one at Sea Otter
I don’t care how good a bike performs… hearing creaks the whole ride would ruin it for me
I agree, I stopped multiple times to try and fix it. Like I said in the video, if it's not fixable the value proposition completely falls off.
Yup.... I don't like any sounds from my bike... only the sound of my rear hub
@@philrob4468 even then I tend to prefer a reasonably quiet hub.

🤞its such a good bike otherwise
Just needs some grease. Takes less than 10 mins not sure why everyone is complaining when they cant afford the bike anyways.

The bee sting was the least expected MTB injury
🤣Yeah, funny thing though my buddy stepped on a hornets next the week prior and got stung like 6 times.

I've just watched a video from Lewis Buchanan, who has a v5 that was creaking. He found out that some of the bolts weren't torqued to spec!
Yeah, I'm excited to check out the V5 SX and according to Commencal the bike is all sorted.
So in terms of weight for climbing is it really a hustle de meta v5 against the tempo? And how much more does it weight?

Based on your experience with tempo and metaV5 overall climbing and descents, which bike would you keep with??
