  • From Ayers Rock Campground we continue our 35000km motorbike journey around Australia!!
Today we ride from Uluru to Alice Springs with a stop to hike around Kings Canyon, one of the most spectacular canyons in Central Australia, with sheer red rock faces that soar above the surrounding desert landscape and provide an oasis for some 600 plant and bird species in the gorge below.
From Kings Canyon we take the Mereenie Loop to Alice Springs. We read that it had some dirt sections but we didn't expect them to be huge or too difficult, we were wrong on both those points! We ended up riding through a couple hundred kms of dirt and corrugation with regular patches of loose sand/bull dust that had our tyres slipping and our hearts racing!

Great update. We found that dirt loop road an absolute shocker and that was in a 4wd. Even let the tyres down a few times. We did come across a grader but he had only started to grade it. We saw a lot of donkeys and horses and a few camels along it. Great scenery as you said.

Hi team. Some excellent video work there to give an excellent idea of the area as seen from a motorbike.
Those two days of video took me ten days on my bike. Good to see that some asphalting of the Mereenie Loop has been done. I had two other obstacles to progress on my ride.
With some rain, that surface turned to claggy mud, and I had 80 mm of sticky stuff on the wheels that I needed to scrape off with a stick for about 1 km. I could get about two turns of the wheel, ie, 2 x 2.3 m = 5 m, before needing to de-clag. Ended up removing the brakes where it was really catching, but ten minutes later it was back solid.
The second section was cobblestones. Fist-sized rocks bedded in clay. Enough to rattle fillings loose. That really seemed to go on forever.
It was so much fun I did it a second time!
But I wouldn't like to take those narrow tyres through the bulldust. That looked imminently lethal.

Wow now that’s an adventure!! And to do it twice! You definitely have some bragging rights with that one :-)
We’d love to do a trip like that on bicycles, it took us 19 months to get around Australia on motorbikes so we’d probably need about 10 years on bicycles 😂

I am a bike rider since 15 years and have almost covered all of extremes of asia, namibia and ur nation.as a rider,Can i suggest u even better?
    Take a flight to india.
And there are 2 rides now.
One is in the western Deserts of Rajasthan.
Make sure u take the ride from jodhpur to jaisalmer, then jaisalmer to tanot via ramgarh, then via longewala to munabao,
If u r allwoed to visit indo pak border from tanot, let me tell u i have rode almost all the major deserts like mongolia, namibia, sahara and even the aussies from adelaide to darwin and sydney to perth 10 years ago.
And except a few streches in mongolia and namibia, this 20 kilometer stretch between tanot and border is the most beautiful on the planet.then after reaching munabao u can go straightforward to rann of kutch, which has whiter desert for me even better than the only other counterpart in chile.
Round 2.now if u start from jodhpur,go for sriganganagar via bikaner royal province straight into punjab.let me tell u somethings, this stretch from jodhpur to sriganganagar for me other than tibetan buddhism has the best culture in the world and is undoubtedly the oldest surviving culture with at least10 thousand years of recorded history.dont forget to stay in a mud house and enjoy the local desert rajasthani food which has no match for me in 25 countries vast cuisine.
Then move onto punjab and enjoy the lush green fields making it even better than Ukrainian fields which are world famous.make sure u do this desert trip in winter.
Round 3 u have to do this in june because roads are closed due to heavy snow till june.
From Delhi March on to kalka.and from kalka to shimla take the toy train which has only one superior rail experince in switzerland.(however this train journey can be mesmerizing if done in winters with snow all aroundthe journey,u can do this in your round 1 trip in december)
But for himlayan bike ride u need to wait till june.from shimla to manali u can take bus.and from manali what awaits is the most amazing bike ride for😅 any human.the only bike ride that was anywher close for mr was mongolian bike trip.
From manali u can cover entire lahaul spiti district.dont miss any routes with some of the highest settlements in the entire world enriched with scenic Buddhist monasteries.then via rohtang pass enter the pristine lands of west Tibet. Let me tell u,the lake of karzok is the best place in the world.i swear it will be your favourite destination of the lifetime.
Then via kaksangla pass, head on to the most remote offroading to pangong tso lake through shyok river(often described as river of heavens) and u will definitely know why!!
Then head on to nubra valley literally the valley of heaven.take a ride of central asian camels only found in nubra and mongolia.
Then there is umlingla top at 6000m literally higher than many top mountains, which is breathtaking.then head to khardungla to leh.enjoy the highest and fastest river rafting and bungee jumping.let me tell u this is even better than a jump from burj khalifa.
Then head onto monasteries in hemis national park and count for ur luck to spot snow leopards.
Then head onto dras second coldest inhabited place, and to zojila pass.
Cross into sonmarg even beautiful than swiss counterparts.
And head onto gulmarg ski resort.with a gondola into heavens,
This is the most beautiful ski resort in the world for me even better than swiss and georgian ones.
Thats it.ofcourse it would have been even betterif Tibet was open.thats the only thing thats incomplete in my bucketlist but i have been unlucky with chinese visa.if u r vaccinated, unfortunately u dont have much time left in your life as the covid vaccs were a part of !lluminat! Plan to reduce human population from
8 billion to 50 million.so do it quick.and also a traveller don't miss doing mongolia and siberia.these 2 are gems.of course to solve ur doubt that how did i write this much, dont worry i iust used voice notes to translate typing.
And a gem of bonus to sign off ,katowice (a neon illuminated city and its villages in southern poland only best when did in snowy winter nights)
Hope u find it helpful, with love,
    Samar.
