    The best thing I learnt in this video is that the red thing he’s holding at the beginning is called Jake

      But i got confused at the end, it looks like the white wing was jake at the end when the camera man said it. Sooo weird

    Really happy to hear about some easy informational stuff as opposed to just mental climbs. As fun as it is watching really hard and technical routes, there's definitely a lack of resources for people who aren't veterans yet. Thanks, and keep it up!

      @WungusBill tbh I learn faster by listening, watching, and reading 😅

    • @club6525
      @club6525 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @WungusBill tbh that’s how I learn physical skills. I just watched a few videos and asked my friend about it and then I managed to do V8 with near perfect technique. Got to the top but my friend had to help me down but I remembered I was a bit scared of heights. I even learned how to bike by just listening to my parents explain it and watching them do it. You don’t develop strong connective tissue but you can learn technique and control.

    • @woolypuffin392
      @woolypuffin392 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. Our Boldering hall has like 10 easy paths and for someone who never bouldered and has a fear of heights, those were already challenging for me.

      @PogChamp you can do a lot with technique. the fitness builds up slower than when you were young but of course you will get stronger eventually.

      @@tracy9157 Almost 56 here! And one year post lumbar spinal fusion. Love the sport! Much easier on the joints than classic gym workouts, I find.

    • @schecter5035
      @schecter5035 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @PogChamp! Wdym like couldnt do literally anything? I think anybody regardless of age with a decent level of fitness and strength will have a really great first climbing session and excell even more after going a few times. I know for a fact i enetered climbing 1 month ago at 16 year of age and came to it natually, i think the fact i had been going to the gym for 8 months helped, and my ability to lift my own bodyweight. However climbing longer 11-15m routes in the gym near me has encouraged and made me realise improving my endurance is super necessary.I am doing cardio often ish now to achieve that and tbf i can see why my endurance on the walls is pretty bad.

    I went to a climbing gym in Florida, and there was a whole wall of these driftwood style holes, and it was great. I love having a lot of scraggly stuff to hold onto. Despise crimps, rarely use them as anything other than footholds. Best with speed climbing.

    Jugs: easiest holds with a really positive edge
    Slopers: usually large holds with a rough surface and no positive edge. Create friction with the whole palm of the hand, stay low
    Pinches: holds that have positive edges on opposing sides. Pinch using thumb on one side and fingers on the other side.
    Crimps: small, thin and irregularly shaped. Use full crimp, with thumbs on top of the fingers, or half crimp, with thumb loose. The full crimp is generally more dangerous.
    Pebbles: tiny crimps where you can't use all your fingers.
    Pockets: have a whole in the middle
    Slots: like pockets, but require more accuracy

    This is kind of neat. I've been watching alot of rock climbing videos lately and have been thinking about getting into it, my only issue is my weight. I have some good strength and grip for my weight but not enough to support my body because I don't grip a lot of tings during my work day. I'm 275lbs :/ 5'10" tall. I can deadlift 335 without straps but that doesn't translate into grip strength at all. It'd be cool to get into this on a beginner level and see how I do. But I think I might be to fat. I don't even really eat that much :( like once or twice a day usually less than like 1500 calories
