    Being a while, good to see you. important information, I remember a job I did weeks ago where the charger the customer brought with it is greater than the power specification of the laptop which spoilt the board, not repairable.

    It could do with a 6v zenna diode cathode connected to the socket +, the anode end goes to the first mosfet via a transistor and resistor.
    Keep the mosfet off if the voltage is above 5v.

    I used to work in IT support, Lenovo's laptop would break down extremely often, these were the high end laptops too. Out of 50 new Lenovo laptops, 1 or 2 out of 50 would die after a year. I would never buy a Lenovo. The HP high end laptops would last forever, forever i mean 15years+ before they started to break down. This was 10 years back so things may have changed after watching this video, I doubt it.

    Thank you for the advice. However, i have a question on a different brand, HP. I have three HP laptops with the same problem and that is they cant switch on but all the voltages are present on the motherboard. The power switch is receiving the required voltage of 3.3v and the switch is responding to key press by going to 0volts when the key is pressed. I am suspecting the SIO chip. The models are HP G62, HP635 and HP CQ58. I would like to confirm of the issue before ordering the chips.

    My 10 yr old nephew has Powerspeck Notebook computer i7 model 1710
    It has these issues:
    Gets overheat easily
    Turns off randomly
    Battery does not charge
    A lot of applications always open
    Search engine open
    Uninvited Notifications
    What's the best thing to do? How to diagnose first?

    • @jasonr9157
      @jasonr9157 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tackle overheating issues first, remove all heatpads heatsinks and fans clean them properly then apply new thermal grease reseat all fans and heatsinks and replacing the heat pads if any, and fingers crossed its sorted, this can cause pc to restart if they get too hot
      if pc is still restarting focus on memory modules, remove them clean the gold contacts blow the dust out the memory slots try them one at a time in each slot and iif you have one slot only try another memory stick instead
      70% of all computers that have no heating problems but keep restarting have faulty memory or hard drive, so yes check or replace your hardrive after you check your memory, then start detatching wifi cards cdroms card readers etc and usb ports and keyboards each time you remove something retest for restarts
      battery not charging ? check your battery voltage with a multimeter
      once youve waded through this and your laptop/pc is working again then you have to delete the drives partition and reinstal windows fresh, make sure you back up the bare minimum needed cos your computer is likely infected
      as soon as windows is loaded instal some antivirus before you import back any files and you should be good to go

    • @jasonr9157
      @jasonr9157 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      also get an adblocker and some pop up blockers for chrome or explorer and increase your memory if you have many open apps and web pages 8gb is the bare minimum needed, 16gb is best bang for buck, 32gb is for the pros
