I think of it as an enhancement, like shoes having more fun, the guy who gets to have whatever for dinner, or the one who doesn’t know if he can afford his next meal?
My perspective on it is that it can't buy you happiness, but that it makes life much much much much much much much much much much much easier.
If you're a millionaire you don't have any fears any more to one day become homeless, not being able to pay rent, medical bills, getting sacked from work etc. If you have millions and can just basically relax if you wanted to, it would relief so much stress. When I look at the stress I have in life atm, it all has the ''core'' of money.
It will make your life easier, which could make you happier because your life is now easier.
With money you can buy house but not home, you can buy food but not appetite, you can buy bed but not sleep. Money isn't everything.
money is great when you make it with people who have been there when the money wasn't there.

I wouldn't say that money necessarily brings happiness, because happy feelings can stem from almost anything that is valuable and meaningful to you, and I mean ANYTHING, not just money. You can feel happiness when you get better at the pursuit of your goals for example, because that improvement produces higher and desirable results which then make you happy and proud of yourself. With that being said, that happy feeling can soon become a major factor in motivating you to strive for even bigger and better goals later on.
