Soi Fon has a great bankai, not in power but in story it makes perfect sense. Bankai is bringing your zanpaktou into the real world which you make out of your personality, Soi Fon may be a stealth fighter but her personality is very loud and explosive which her Bankai reflects.
i always theorised her bankai was actually incomplete (unlike her shikai which fits her perfectly) since she developed it after yoruichi left and she was constantly living and training in a suppressed state of rage and/or hidden depression caused by her abandonment. You see after her breakdown in front of yoruichi that she's actually not at all like the snarky, arrogant front she puts up in front of everyone else, and i've always thought kubo did her dirty by turning her into a gag character/poor man's yoruichi rather than giving her any room to grow on her own.
@@udiin6518 I'd wager most of them dont know the _true name_ of their zanpakuto, with a few exceptions (Hitsugaya, Komamura, and probably Byakuya). If they dont have *full control* of the effects of their bankai (allies being affected, etc), chances are they are incomplete. Probably not the case all the time, though.
Lol, Ikkaku's Bankai is perfect for who he is. He, like Kenpachi/Unohana, ended up doing something to make him prolong, enjoy the fight more. When you look at it from that purpose, its perfectly tailored for his goal, not to win, but to have a long epic fight.
I thought his goal was - not to stretch out the length of battle - but to become as strong as possible so he could compete against Kenpachi and take the Captain seat: according to how the 11th Division works. Ikkaku wanted to just become as strong as possible, that is what his Bankai gave him: strength. But being such a simple-minded goal he was narrowed down into a simple Bankai. It would not surprise me if Hozakimaru gave him the wrong name like what Renji got from Zabimaru; in hopes that Ikkaku would learn what true strength was. Afterall his shikai is a fairly traditional monk weapon rather than a straight up heavy hitter. His entire aesthetic also looks like it came from Buddhist Monks. So Hozakimaru probably was improperly paired with him or wanted him to cool down and really improve his skill rather than just trying to use brute force as though he were wielding an axe or hammer.

Tosen's Bankai is actually strong though. It's the only one on this list that wouldn't just get immediately rendered useless by someone with a stronger reiastu.
I think he forgot the fact that Tosen can just go for the head or the neck instantly for a one shot kill against most opponents. In the SS arc he was strong enough to cut Eyepatch Kenpachi while he himself was in shikai and definitely could've killed him. In the Arrancar he was able to cut through Grimmjow's Hierro with no issue and completely disintegrate his arm when Bankai Masked Ichigo in the 2nd Grimmjow fight couldn't even do that much damage. And then in Fake Karakura, Tosen had Hollowfication to amp all of his stats on top of that. He was able to physically slap around Komamura and block his Bankai with ease, so imagine his cutting power with the Bankai Reiatsu amp stacked with Hollowfication on top of his base stats which are bare minimum above Espada 6 Grimmjow lowballed
Tbh I actually don’t like Ichigos first bankai, it’s cool when it’s first shown due to its speed but after the soul society arc, it’s completely wank against everyone until he gets his hollow mask

Well Fact that Ichigo’s bankai is seen the most takes away the specialness out of it but his bankai’s ability is not only speed boost but ability to use black getsuga to enhass his sword attacks as well but tbh its not his real bankai anyway
Soifon Shukko technique is better than her bankai, or her Suzumebachi is way more better than her bankai, what did Tite Kubo think? Stupid right, if she aiming & shooting someone with that bankai, people just have to dodge it or just disappear, cause all characters in bleach can disappear like flash jump, unless she's aiming at Mayuri's bankai or Komamura bankai, what a suck bankai
Well can't really say anything about Endgame Tensa Zangetsu but the original one was completely useless without the mask. With or without Ichigos reiatsu influence, as a bankai it's really shitty one. It made ichigo a bit faster, a bit stronger (maybe?) and he gained access to black getsuga. That's it. Can't even compare it to Byakuyas or Yamamotos.
@Nanoz5 also he never tried anything new with it. the closest he got was covering zangestu in the gestuga but he never tried condensing it further like yamamoto's fire.
Tousen bankai is actually pretty good, he showed better use of it in turn back the pendulum arc. His bankai requires that you either incapacitate or kill your opponent immediately after activation since most opponents in the initial moments would be completely vulnerable with their senses cut off. He did take down several of the future vizards using this bankai to quickly knock them out. It was also shown at least at that point, that his bankai was actually just a passing wave of darkness, and within seconds he struck down several captains. Tousen acted too high and mighty with Zarakai....not to mention going for non fatal moves at first, until when he got serious, it was too late. Of course if the opponent is just way stronger, his bankai wouldn't really help but that can be said for any bankai. I agree with every other bankai on the list though.
Tosens bankai being here is complete bs. After he activates his bankai, he should just use kido. Bet he could even defeat kenpachi if he did that, but nooooooo he forgot kido against kenpachi cuz the plot required him to lose🙄🙄🙄
Sajin's Bankai isn't slow it matches his movements. Size has no effect on his speed. Sajin was also able to keep up with soifon. He's deceptively fast.
Leonardo MRM the helper is basically Masculine’s power so not much of an excuse. Hell, it’s actually implied that the helper was the real quincy and masculine was the incarnation of his power.
Kensei's one of my favorites. Hes an underdog, and doesnt have a lot of flashy tricks, but what he has is effective under the right circumstances. With that said, he is severely underpowered (along his fellow Visored) as a Captain-level that's 100+ yr old.

Also, a lot of characters used their strongest attack on the first showing (which normally means they'd win) but actually end up losing??????? Personally his Bankai is OP. I think it's interesting how Aizen & Tosen had Zanpakuto's that can distort the senses and with Gin he simply lied about what his Bankai can really do, which is to disperse instantly and place poison in your skin. Keeping that in mind reaffirms how sneaky the trio was.
Actual worst bankai: Ichigo. It was great at first since it made him way faster and stronger than his opponents, but Kubo pretty quickly realized that if Ichigo was too fast and strong, his fights would be really boring. So then he started fighting Espada who were all also insanely fast and strong..... unless they are fighting anyone other than Ichigo. Eventually his Bankai was essentially his base form and was identical to a Captain unreleased form except for Getsuga Tensho, an ability also present in his Shikai.
Hard disagree on Tousen’s Bankai. The only thing we know is that it shreds apart once Tousen is damaged, aside from that we know literally nothing else about how to dissipate it. To argue that some could simply kido or cero it away is pure conjecture until we are shown otherwise. Furthermore, Tousen is not going to clue anyone into the fact that his hilt is his weakness and would more than likely kill them before they got a chance to deduce that fact for themselves. How Tousen performed against Kenpachi was PIS and in no way represents a fight against someone he doesn't feel the need to lecture to.
Agree with all of it. He used the bankai to defeat several captains during the pendulum arc. And I don't think it disappears when he's damaged but disappeared like Renji's when he was getting closer to death, or I guess too much damage.
I hate how they made Komamura's bankai so slow in the anime. I really like the concept and it's implied in the manga it copies his moves instantly. That means even if Komamura himself isn't the fastest, due to the massive size diference, the giant should move lightning fast to mach it's user.
Man rip Ikkaku, he's such a sick character and i love his bankai, but he's like the only person to have his bankai permanently busted and that's rough. I feel like his getting broken and Mayuri saying that once a bankai is broken it can never be the same could have been the perfect chance for Mayuri to modify it so it suits him better. Less power, more usability or something
I personally dont like ichigos bankai. I understand that there is narrative reasons for it being the way it is but for it to not have a creative ability like majority of other bankais in the series just feels kinda lazy
Tbh i hate ichigo in this anime. The difference between his bankai and shikai is just the outfit and the shape of the zanpakutou. The skills were still the same just the colour changed on his getsuga tenshou with more speed and power. I like how kubo made that ichigo didn’t take all the spotlight even he’s the main character
I mean, ichigo was completely wasted as highlighted by hikone, but let's be fair, his first bankai is literally not even his shikai, like, in his actual shikai ichigo is as strong as he was when he used mugetsu, just by that, tensa zangetsu is basically just his sealed zanpakuto if not even less.
Rukia's bankai is actually useless, it does create a one-shot kill area that attacks really fast. But she can barely move, she can't stay very long in it and she has to slowly... thaw out to regular body-heat... from this absolute zero cold or it will kill her.
The worst thing about bleach is having soi Fon as the captain of stealth force because they hand their report to yamaji and she has repeatedly proven that she is the worst investigator or detective. I have thought the first lace will be taken by thest punching guy member of visors.
there is no worse bankai, the current bankai is due to the users power lets take Tousen bankai for example, if he had Aizen level POwer or senior captain, his bankai would be able to completely remove all senses and become more perfect also expand its area by dozens if not hundreds of times, this was explained in the Novel, certain shikai or bankai might seem shitty but that is due to the limitation of their users/reaitsu while some abilities might seem OP as hell like Kyokai suigetsu but in reality is because the user is extremely powerful, Kyokai suigetsu in the hands of Tokinada was nowhere near as flawless or perfect as it was with Aizen, Yamamoto Shikai flames were also nowhere near as hot or powerful while shitty zanpakuto in the hands of Captain class shinigami posses incredible abilities and pretty haxy.

I understand what you are saying but there is a limit to it...case in point Ikaku's bankai is just physical even with Aizen level spiritual power it would be two big swords that just cause a lot of damage. The inherent abilities do matter as all abilities are not equal. Like if we scaled captains to have same spirit power, etc....kyoka suigetsu would always be better than any physical based zanpaktou as it allows for far more versatility. Can't really hit what you can't perceive correctly.
In all honesty, both Shinji's and Hisagi's bankai shall be on this list. I love both of them, but they're pretty situational as well, specially Shinji's....
It's really strong though, like by that logic wouldnt you put yammato's on the list as well because it's too powerful to the point it would affect others if he got serious with it.
That means a few of the Gotei would make the list. Shunsui, Rose, Shinji, Rukia, Yammamoto, Mayuri, Unohana (maybe).... I don't think any of them can use Bankai near team mates

Hisagi bankai is the most BS in the entire series, it completely disregards power difference between hisagi and his enemy, the enemy could be 10,000x stronger and it still works.
Ichigo's bankai is extremely bad, like after fighting with Byakuya author made it even worth than shikai during the battle with Kenpachi. When other capitains were fighting espada just with their bankai, ichigo managed to do it only with bankai+mask. Even Ishida during the battle with Ulquiora was on the same level of speed comparing to Ichigo's bankai+mask or even faster. So the only advantage of Ichigo's bankai - speed, was completely eliminated after Soul Society ark.
He ends up losing because he hasnt released his full potential. When he does, Toshiro turns into an adult in a bankai, far more powerful when he is in child form. Toshiro fan here
I actually really like Soi Fon's Bankai. With that stealth, speed and close quarter combat she has to go through and then having to not only land two successful hits on her opponent with her Shikai, they have to be in the exact same place. She's a master at using it, but against an opponent as well trained as herself scoring those hits would be extremely difficult. After all that, her Bankai is as if she just says "F.ck this!" *BOOM!*
I mean props to Ikkaku, he's a 3rd seater for the most part of the series, yet he still has a bankai. If anyone gotta has the worst bankai, it gotta be him. But still, mad props to him.
I think that you missed a pretty important side of Komamura's Bankai. Most bankai's if broken are nearly impossible to repair, but in case of Kokujo Tengen Myoo it's trivial because of how it's connected to Komamura's body. Honestly i'm dissapointed that we never got to see Komamura fighting with support from some potent users of healing Kidou because it would be pretty damn broken combo. Also i would count here Rukia's bankai - Sure it's powerful as hec, but it was clearly stated that if used for too long or if Rukia would lost focus she would actualy end freezing herself. At least in case of Soifon's Bankai if the blast will not kill opponent Soifon still is alive but Rukia's bankai can kill the user.
no, soi fong do not need to hide to active her bankai, she only did that once, and was for prepare a weight for her not to fly away with the impact of the explosion, she use her bankai against a quincy and she did not prepare to launch the missile...
Out of the many bankai. I love ikkakus the most. Ryuumon hozukimaru. Literal translation: Dragon Crest, Demon Light. I love it bc of it's overall appearance and functionality. As well as a reflection of his shikai. Ikkaku fights using a three section weapon as a shikai which is a spear. Naturally only the spear tip can be used to hurt his foes. But in his bankai, all three sections are weaponized with three unique blades. Meaning his fighting style can change depending on which blade he uses. Plus it's unpredictable since there are chains involved. And as long as one of the three blades is still left, ikkaku can still keep fighting. Then there's the power up aspect of it. Once that dragon turns red, the bankais power skyrockets. And that's why I love this bankai.
That's unfortunately Renji as a whole, from the time he arrived with Byakuya until the end of the Aizen arc he only won a single fight against an opponent of worth, that being against his 1st Arrancar, he doesn't get another proper win until the Fullbring arc (in canon)

It's kind of sad that Renshis first Bankai was so objectively bad. Its concept of turning his sword into a dragon that is controlled by him was very unique and fit his character. I like such Bankai that are actually special and unique and make the character stand out over those that are just another bigass sword or end of the world energy blast. I honestly always thought Ikaku would be the one getting a new Bankai at some point just because his Bankai is obviously not 100 % mastered - otherwise he wouldn't have to force it to fully awaken. And I honestly thought it would turn into some kind of battle gear or something less clunky and more usefull when that happens.
This is more of a top five most impractical Bankai. Literally all the Bankai on this list I actually really like despite most of them not doing very much in battle

Honestly Tousen's bankai is broken. If you dont know about it then he should strike your head and win. Also its underwritten as aside from feeling, you shouldnt have a sense of balance, temperature and all the other minor senses which would really make it OP.
He just met with a bad matchup. Zaraki is the undefeated kenpachi. Usually kenpachi have strong fighting instinct which predict unpredictable. They don't need to sense as they fight with their instinct. Zaraki just want to prove the point to him that he can deal with him easily and give him chance. He want a longer fight. If he really want it he can strike him down in a second.

Ill have to disagree on l Tosen being up there. In the past he used his abilities to take out kensei and other soon to be vizards without em even knowing what hit em. They were captain level. Kenpachi is way above that

The fact is Yhwach didn’t want to fight Ichigo’s Bankai so he broke it. Ichigo’s True Bankai is one of the strongest, if not the strongest Bankai in bleach.

I personally would have had Gerard Valkyrie win against everyone (instead of the fight be on going) and be standing next to Yhwach's as his guard...only to have Ichigo completely take out Gerard in one shot...Ichigo gets ready to strike Yhwach, only to have it have his bankai break, at that point. This would have shown how powerful his bankai is because Gerard just defeats 3 captains...than to have Ichigo defeated would have shown how powerful Yhwach was

Also against Gerard Valkyrie being killed by Ichigo wouldn’t make any sense. Even if Ichigo’s power was stronger than Toshiro’s adult form and Kenpachi’s Bankai, Gerards ability is to convert the enemies physical damage into power. Ichigo would’ve been the last person beat him tbh.
You said Kokujou tengen myou-ou , its *KOKUJOU Tengen MYOU -OUUUU !* while it is bad on paper , is actually a double edged sword if Komamura heals his Bankai also heals . And unlike other Bankai it does not Deteriorate with prolonged use. Considering how Durable Komamura and his Bankai is , I wouldn't say linking is such a big flaw for him .
3:40 actually Kommamura's Bankai in the TYBW has an additional property, which makes it indestructible. That's why he was planning to use it on Yawch. The only limitation on that form was that he is limited by his Reiatsu. It does not belong on this list. 4:51 Ikkaku's Bankai is a special case. Technically, all Bankai are weightless to it's user. So he is only slower than his Shikai, because suffers from strain to maintain his Bankai. Imo, Ikkaku was never supposed to use Bankai that early. By forcibly unlocking it, he weakened it's potential.
I think there's no such worse bankai, each bankai has it own specialty and how it meant to be use. Tosen's bankai can be use in huge area and in stealth mode. Renji's bankai can be for large area attack, protection such as whirl around and support just like the time he help Ichigo to climb up in order to save Rukia from execution. Soi Fon's and Sajin's Bankai pretty similar as both of them do huge splash damage except Sajin's bankai more suitable to huge enemy. Ikkaku's bankai more into duel type of fight or one by one as he can endure a lot of damage even though most of the skill do splash damage. That's only my opinion, there's no such thing worse bankai, it's just how much capability it has.
Ikkaku's Bankai being pretty much just "cut harder" fits his character and really isn't a bad ability at all contextually, since cutting through an Arrancar's Hierro requires exactly that. The key flaw that still makes his Bankai the worst though is its fragility. His Shikai already struggles with this, that flimsy wooden handle breaks in literally every battle he partakes in, but his Bankai ramps it up to eleven by actually getting damaged from dealing damage. Ikkaku chipped his Bankai's blade by striking a Fraccion twice. And since Bankai cannot be restored, it's literally just a matter of time before his own Bankai completely destroys itself. A fact made worse that he destroyed an entire blade of his Bankai in that single battle.
If I can make my own custom bankai, I would choose to look like barragon and have a move similar to the goal of all life is death. My zanpakuto would look like a london clock tower the size of soi fon's rocket. 😋 I'm sure y'all can make something more creative then mines. 😁
My zanpakuto's shikai would be fully metal so it wouldn't have a hilt, the power of the Shikai would be that you would basically have a shape-shifting sword, you can make it longer, wider, make spikes grow from The Sword Etc. The Bankai would allow you 2 in case your body in the shape shifting metal. also the Unbreakable because of the shape-shifting ability.
I would've point Jakuho Raikoben in the number 1 slot. Sure Ryumon Hozukimaru is slow to fully awaken, but he can at least activate it without prep time, and it fits his fighting style.
@@themrmezbah he's a Third Seat. (I would argue he's the same level as Renji, not quite Captain level but stronger than Lieutenants, but I digress). If he was the same level as a Captain, then it wouldn't get destroyed as easily. As seen when Renji's first Bankai got destroyed a lot. Aizen is on a completely different level then even Captains, so that's a completely unfair comparison.

It comes to the point where I can't even imagine him getting into a fight without his bankai getting at least chipped (which is permanent) I don't think ikkaku's weak by no means. @@jasonmaxwell6316 nah he was confirm to be a true 3rd Seat, his fight with ichigo proved this and so did his fight with Edorad/Fraccion. Matsumoto literally speed blitz Nakim and stop his blows with no effort just using her wrist in just her base form then after activating her Shikai she one shot him, while Base ikkaku was completely tied with Edorad base vs base and even in bankai he barely won,, Renji in bankai one shot Illfort in his release state. after ichigo defeated him he could only match Base Renji, after renji used shikai he was getting pummeled. Yumichika is comparable to Ikkaku by Kubo statement and Yumichika in his Half Shikai state was no match at all against Base Hisagi, only after activating his cheap True Shikai did he win, not exactly winning via being stronger just having a better ability that allows the user to fight stronger enemies. Shikai Ikkaku is weaker than a Base Vice Captain Bankai Ikkaku is equal if not weaker than a Shikai Vice Captain. the difference between a Vice captain and a captain is quite large, Bankai Renji was still weaker than Base Byakuya i mean Byakuya was using low class Kido and making him blocked them with his Bankai, if he had use Hado 80s or higher he would of obliterated him and even just using Shikai forced Renji to completely seperate his bankai or force it to be broken.
Tosen could have probably won against Kenpachi if he just stabbed his heart or cut his head off instead of going for random slashes while explaining his own power to himself. Yeah, Kenpachi could burst the bubble, but at the time, he didn't properly understand how Tosen's bankai actually worked
In defense of Ryumon Hozukimaru, I don't think its full power was ever fully shown. And Kokujo Tengen Myo's damage is shared with Saji Komamura, but the benefit is that it's also repaired when Komamura is healed making it one of the few Bankai's that can be repaired. Remember, zanpakto's damaged while in bankai can't conventionally be repaired for some reason.
I like kenseis bankai. It should be useful in most fights because they all fight with sword and unless the enemy has long range he can fight them with soo much power. Maybe overpower them. He also doesn’t hesitate to use bankai immediately
@@nozarashi4329 nah its a Bankai/Novel, its just exactly the same as Ichigos, it merely increases the users stats overall in every direction, so its not eactly weak or strong but very good in any situation, you can say its the most balance bankai in the series and also the most boring, its basically the SSJ or Kaoiken of bleach.
I think that besides Ikkaku's bankai, Ichigo's first bankai is pretty useless. He lost against a grimmjow that wasn't even using his sword. It just feels like to other strong characters their bankai is their go to trump card but for Ichigo his bankai feels like his shikai and then his hollow mask like a bankai. (This is still before the fullbring arc btw)
The thing is with Ikkaku and Renji, their Bankais broke and according to Mayuri, a Bankai loses a lot of its power and cannot be fully restored if broken... IF Ikkaku used his Bankai more and didn't hide it (and if didn't break), he would have been pretty amazing And Renji, Zabimaru was still strong enough to beat or fight back powerful opponents whilst being in a weakened state, and it wasn't even his sword's true form or power anyway, so much power held back and THEN cut significantly And Tousen beat several Captain class fighters in moments with his Bankai, yes it was for the Visored experiment, but if you're not ready for it, he could kill you quite easily with it... he wanted Kenpachi to feel scared or helpless before killing him as he saw him as nothing but a violent brute, he dragged it on but he could have seriously hurt Kenpachi with the first attack But yes, Kido or a wide range attack could defeat it easily, we don't really know, Sajin wasn't worried about it and was ready to fight it, but we never saw how it functioned in arial combat, always just gorund combat

Tousen's Bankai isn't that bad. He only lost because of PIS. If Tousen immediately goes for the head and one shots, his Bankai is actually kinda broken. Of course its weak to AOE attacks but seriously. Bankai -> Flash Step -> Head slash/stab = GG

When was it stated you can break out of his bankai with kido? #2 the whole point of Soi Fon's Bankai is in the event that she fails her stealth attack she can nuke the area and get the hell out of dodge whether she wants to or not since the blast pushes her back. #4 Tosen was pretty fast. He isn't slow by any stretch of the means. The fact that Komamura kept up with him who isn't a Vaizard is incredible. Also Komamura is VERY DURABLE so that somewhat negates the damage he takes. While Aizen who is of course *AIZEN* one shot every captain bad to deal more blows to finish off Sajin.
#1 It was never stated, but Tosen made a mistake by not going straight for the kill with Kenpachi. I would imagine he would do the same with any other opponent considering he knew how much of a monster Kenpachi is. At that point, any captain could probably figure it out by then. Also, you have to remember that a battle between shinigami is a battle between reiatsu. #2 If she fails her stealth attack, she would have to go back into hiding and think of a plan to effectivley execute her bankai, and then activate it. Meanwhile, you got other captains popping their bankai's on the spot. Also, using her bankai requires allot of her energy. You make it seem like she can just pop her bankai whenever she feels like it, but in reality its not that simple for her #3 Yes, sajin did manage to keep up for a bit... and then lost. The durability is good, especially in TYBW, but thats useless when you have someone who can flashstep everywhere and dodge all of your slow moves. Let's be honest here if plot hadn't dictated it Kenpachi would have died under Tosens Bankai but nope that didn't happen and Tosen allowed Kenpachi to grab a hold of him. It's BS Plot Reasons sourt of like The Kage Summit & Danzo fight with Sasuke. Sasuke should have died numerous times when he was at the Kage Summit & someone of Danzo's calliber was making hella rookie mistakes because plot demanded Sasuke should win. Sajin isn't a bufoon he can adapt, make calculations and time his strikes either that or say screw it and do some form of AOE attack. Let's say Yama-Jii sent Soifon on an infiltration mission to take out Aizen in Hueco Mundo and she fails the mission. During her escape she could nuke Las Noches and make her escape. She's exhausted but its not like she would be on the verge of passing out. I kinda wished she trained at the soul palace to enhance her bankai. Maybe it turns into a Stinger missile that locks on to the enemy or her hand turns into a Rocket Launcher with multiple Rockets instead of just one
Tengen Myou true form is a masterpiece of a bankai, it's sad that we were not able to see it in animated series. Ikkaku's bankai is perfect for the squad and enemies they deal with, so it's not that useless and we've seen truly just glimpses of a fight during the anime series. I would put kensei bankai into this list sitting as number 1, that one it's the definition of useless. Another terrible bankai is Tensa Zangetsu (form 1), I can't recall a fight that had tides shifted after Ichigo called his bankai, that's why he was given a new one because the first form of Tensa Zangetsu disappoints.
Soi Fon's Bankai is perfect for her. Her shikai is death in 2 hits, Bankai is death in 1 hit. When you think about it, it makes sense. If you can't get to your target with her stealth and Shikai you guarantee the kill by destroying the entire area from VERY far away and making a stealthily retreat.
ikkaku's bankai if you know isn't really useless as its power is stated to be massive along with its destructive capacity being very potent: the problem really is that its so overloaded with power that it's fragile under pressure.... so think a red hot battle axe that with the blade can slice through most hard objects but in grip snaps under how dense those objects are (even as a slow starter)
Zanpakuto being heavy or weighing a lot never made sense considering it was always a part of you and a part of your spirit. I always thought of it as it weighs something, but you don’t notice it. Just like your body parts weigh something, but you don’t really feel how heavy they are. But when it’s hit by say... Izuru’s Wabisuke, you then start to feel like it’s a weight strapped to your body part and becomes harder to move
Soi Fon's was fine. 2 hit kill shikai, 1 hit kill bankai. I can't see kido matching it. Tousen's was also good. I think the 5 worse were: Renji old, Renji new, Rojuro, Komamura old, and finally Ichigo, whose bankai was a simple powerup that stopped being cool after the first use.
I mean Ikkakus bankai did something, it cut released Edrad like butter after his shikai couldn't even scratch him. The issue is more just how brittle it is, a glass cannon of extreme caliber.
Tosen bankai would actually be fucking great if he would be a part of Ninja Division or whatever they are called, 2nd division, you get it. Use it without announcing your presence and just backstab the hell out of people while they are trying to figure out what is going on, just like with Kensei. BTW, the biggest issue of most bankai's is it's user. He can be to dumb, cocky, arrogant, etc to use it for maximum efficiency.
Ikkaku’s power boost from Ryumon Hozukimaru may seem cool at first, but the fact that Ikkaku not only have to “wake up” the Bankai to access its full power, but he also BROKE his Bankai afterwards and therefore permanently damaging/weakening his Bankai in the process. I’m sorry, Ikkaku. You my boy and all...but your Bankai just ain’t it, chief. The risk is not worth all that power IMO, especially when your Bankai’s gonna be weaker the next time you use it.
Kokujo tenken Myo one best because his bankai heal with him, only bankai can do that, if a bankai broke in the fight that bankai never never heal expect kokujo tenken myo also is the strongest bankai(brute force and desturaction) actually also its very fast compare of his sieze
1st Tosens Bankai is bad only if you have AoE attacks. 2nd it doesnt have to be used in a prolonged format we see Tosen use it quick to disorient stronger opponents to defeat them (Vizords during turn back the pendulum). 3rd you cant just grab the hilt unless your a Kenpachi+ character because no selling mortally fatal strikes is not normal. Also I hate when people say Soi-fons bankai doesnt match her. Anyone who's read our watched the series knows her assassin demeanor isnt the real her. She's quick to anger, direct, and extremely flashy. Bankai are a zanpaktous true form and zanpaktou are just extensions of the soul given agency. Soi-fons bankai matches her well.
Soifon has a good shikai but her bankai is something that doesn't make sense, because it looks like a modern arm (missile) and we are talking about a medieval Shinigami world
If Tousen's bankai is AOE and not a single target, then it has a lot of uses. For example, Tousen could bring another companion then let that one to deal the blow to the victim. Remember that anyone can see inside the dome if they touched Tousen's zanpakuto. In addition, Tousen and his bankai is literally the bane of Aizen(without hogyouko).

Soi Fon has a great bankai, not in power but in story it makes perfect sense. Bankai is bringing your zanpaktou into the real world which you make out of your personality, Soi Fon may be a stealth fighter but her personality is very loud and explosive which her Bankai reflects.
Her Bankai is functionally inline with her Zanpaktou. Shikai = two hit kill. Bankai = One hit kill. She just had bad matchups with it

It also doesnt have the killing potential that it's supposed to have. Kommamura was able to tank the hit while already exhausted.
i always theorised her bankai was actually incomplete (unlike her shikai which fits her perfectly) since she developed it after yoruichi left and she was constantly living and training in a suppressed state of rage and/or hidden depression caused by her abandonment. You see after her breakdown in front of yoruichi that she's actually not at all like the snarky, arrogant front she puts up in front of everyone else, and i've always thought kubo did her dirty by turning her into a gag character/poor man's yoruichi rather than giving her any room to grow on her own.

Lol, Ikkaku's Bankai is perfect for who he is. He, like Kenpachi/Unohana, ended up doing something to make him prolong, enjoy the fight more. When you look at it from that purpose, its perfectly tailored for his goal, not to win, but to have a long epic fight.

I thought his goal was - not to stretch out the length of battle - but to become as strong as possible so he could compete against Kenpachi and take the Captain seat: according to how the 11th Division works. Ikkaku wanted to just become as strong as possible, that is what his Bankai gave him: strength. But being such a simple-minded goal he was narrowed down into a simple Bankai. It would not surprise me if Hozakimaru gave him the wrong name like what Renji got from Zabimaru; in hopes that Ikkaku would learn what true strength was. Afterall his shikai is a fairly traditional monk weapon rather than a straight up heavy hitter. His entire aesthetic also looks like it came from Buddhist Monks. So Hozakimaru probably was improperly paired with him or wanted him to cool down and really improve his skill rather than just trying to use brute force as though he were wielding an axe or hammer.

Tosen's Bankai is actually strong though.
It's the only one on this list that wouldn't just get immediately rendered useless by someone with a stronger reiastu.
I think he forgot the fact that Tosen can just go for the head or the neck instantly for a one shot kill against most opponents. In the SS arc he was strong enough to cut Eyepatch Kenpachi while he himself was in shikai and definitely could've killed him. In the Arrancar he was able to cut through Grimmjow's Hierro with no issue and completely disintegrate his arm when Bankai Masked Ichigo in the 2nd Grimmjow fight couldn't even do that much damage. And then in Fake Karakura, Tosen had Hollowfication to amp all of his stats on top of that. He was able to physically slap around Komamura and block his Bankai with ease, so imagine his cutting power with the Bankai Reiatsu amp stacked with Hollowfication on top of his base stats which are bare minimum above Espada 6 Grimmjow lowballed

Well can't really say anything about Endgame Tensa Zangetsu but the original one was completely useless without the mask. With or without Ichigos reiatsu influence, as a bankai it's really shitty one. It made ichigo a bit faster, a bit stronger (maybe?) and he gained access to black getsuga. That's it. Can't even compare it to Byakuyas or Yamamotos.
@Nanoz5 also he never tried anything new with it. the closest he got was covering zangestu in the gestuga but he never tried condensing it further like yamamoto's fire.

Tousen bankai is actually pretty good, he showed better use of it in turn back the pendulum arc. His bankai requires that you either incapacitate or kill your opponent immediately after activation since most opponents in the initial moments would be completely vulnerable with their senses cut off. He did take down several of the future vizards using this bankai to quickly knock them out. It was also shown at least at that point, that his bankai was actually just a passing wave of darkness, and within seconds he struck down several captains.
Tousen acted too high and mighty with Zarakai....not to mention going for non fatal moves at first, until when he got serious, it was too late. Of course if the opponent is just way stronger, his bankai wouldn't really help but that can be said for any bankai. I agree with every other bankai on the list though.

Kensei's one of my favorites. Hes an underdog, and doesnt have a lot of flashy tricks, but what he has is effective under the right circumstances. With that said, he is severely underpowered (along his fellow Visored) as a Captain-level that's 100+ yr old.

I think it's interesting how Aizen & Tosen had Zanpakuto's that can distort the senses and with Gin he simply lied about what his Bankai can really do, which is to disperse instantly and place poison in your skin. Keeping that in mind reaffirms how sneaky the trio was.

Actual worst bankai: Ichigo. It was great at first since it made him way faster and stronger than his opponents, but Kubo pretty quickly realized that if Ichigo was too fast and strong, his fights would be really boring. So then he started fighting Espada who were all also insanely fast and strong..... unless they are fighting anyone other than Ichigo. Eventually his Bankai was essentially his base form and was identical to a Captain unreleased form except for Getsuga Tensho, an ability also present in his Shikai.
The badge he wore sapped his powers turned out.
Hard disagree on Tousen’s Bankai. The only thing we know is that it shreds apart once Tousen is damaged, aside from that we know literally nothing else about how to dissipate it. To argue that some could simply kido or cero it away is pure conjecture until we are shown otherwise. Furthermore, Tousen is not going to clue anyone into the fact that his hilt is his weakness and would more than likely kill them before they got a chance to deduce that fact for themselves. How Tousen performed against Kenpachi was PIS and in no way represents a fight against someone he doesn't feel the need to lecture to.
Agree with all of it. He used the bankai to defeat several captains during the pendulum arc. And I don't think it disappears when he's damaged but disappeared like Renji's when he was getting closer to death, or I guess too much damage.

I hate how they made Komamura's bankai so slow in the anime. I really like the concept and it's implied in the manga it copies his moves instantly. That means even if Komamura himself isn't the fastest, due to the massive size diference, the giant should move lightning fast to mach it's user.
Man rip Ikkaku, he's such a sick character and i love his bankai, but he's like the only person to have his bankai permanently busted and that's rough. I feel like his getting broken and Mayuri saying that once a bankai is broken it can never be the same could have been the perfect chance for Mayuri to modify it so it suits him better. lets take Tousen bankai for example, if he had Aizen level POwer or senior captain, his bankai would be able to completely remove all senses and become more perfect also expand its area by dozens if not hundreds of times, this was explained in the Novel, certain shikai or bankai might seem shitty but that is due to the limitation of their users/reaitsu while some abilities might seem OP as hell like Kyokai suigetsu but in reality is because the user is extremely powerful, Kyokai suigetsu in the hands of Tokinada was nowhere near as flawless or perfect as it was with Aizen, Yamamoto Shikai flames were also nowhere near as hot or powerful while shitty zanpakuto in the hands of Captain class shinigami posses incredible abilities and pretty haxy.

I understand what you are saying but there is a limit to it...case in point Ikaku's bankai is just physical even with Aizen level spiritual power it would be two big swords that just cause a lot of damage. The inherent abilities do matter as all abilities are not equal. Like if we scaled captains to have same spirit power, etc....kyoka suigetsu would always be better than any physical based zanpaktou as it allows for far more versatility. Can't really hit what you can't perceive correctly.

Hisagi bankai is the most BS in the entire series, it completely disregards power difference between hisagi and his enemy, the enemy could be 10,000x stronger and it still works.

Ichigo's bankai is extremely bad, like after fighting with Byakuya author made it even worth than shikai during the battle with Kenpachi. When other capitains were fighting espada just with their bankai, ichigo managed to do it only with bankai+mask. Even Ishida during the battle with Ulquiora was on the same level of speed comparing to Ichigo's bankai+mask or even faster. So the only advantage of Ichigo's bankai - speed, was completely eliminated after Soul Society ark.

I actually really like Soi Fon's Bankai. With that stealth, speed and close quarter combat she has to go through and then having to not only land two successful hits on her opponent with her Shikai, they have to be in the exact same place. She's a master at using it, but against an opponent as well trained as herself scoring those hits would be extremely difficult. After all that, her Bankai is as if she just says "F.ck this!" *BOOM!*
I mean props to Ikkaku, he's a 3rd seater for the most part of the series, yet he still has a bankai. If anyone gotta has the worst bankai, it gotta be him. But still, mad props to him.

I think that you missed a pretty important side of Komamura's Bankai. Most bankai's if broken are nearly impossible to repair, but in case of Kokujo Tengen Myoo it's trivial because of how it's connected to Komamura's body. Honestly i'm dissapointed that we never got to see Komamura fighting with support from some potent users of healing Kidou because it would be pretty damn broken combo.
Also i would count here Rukia's bankai - Sure it's powerful as hec, but it was clearly stated that if used for too long or if Rukia would lost focus she would actualy end freezing herself. Out of the many bankai. I love ikkakus the most. Ryuumon hozukimaru. Literal translation: Dragon Crest, Demon Light.
I love it bc of it's overall appearance and functionality. As well as a reflection of his shikai. Ikkaku fights using a three section weapon as a shikai which is a spear. Naturally only the spear tip can be used to hurt his foes. But in his bankai, all three sections are weaponized with three unique blades. Meaning his fighting style can change depending on which blade he uses. Plus it's unpredictable since there are chains involved.
And as long as one of the three blades is still left, ikkaku can still keep fighting.
Then there's the power up aspect of it. Once that dragon turns red, the bankais power skyrockets.
And that's why I love this bankai.

It's kind of sad that Renshis first Bankai was so objectively bad. Its concept of turning his sword into a dragon that is controlled by him was very unique and fit his character. I like such Bankai that are actually special and unique and make the character stand out over those that are just another bigass sword or end of the world energy blast.
I honestly always thought Ikaku would be the one getting a new Bankai at some point just because his Bankai is obviously not 100 % mastered - otherwise he wouldn't have to force it to fully awaken. And I honestly thought it would turn into some kind of battle gear or something less clunky and more usefull when that happens.
This is more of a top five most impractical Bankai. Literally all the Bankai on this list I actually really like despite most of them not doing very much in battle

Honestly Tousen's bankai is broken. If you dont know about it then he should strike your head and win. Also its underwritten as aside from feeling, you shouldnt have a sense of balance, temperature and all the other minor senses which would really make it OP.
He just met with a bad matchup. Zaraki is the undefeated kenpachi. Usually kenpachi have strong fighting instinct which predict unpredictable. They don't need to sense as they fight with their instinct. Zaraki just want to prove the point to him that he can deal with him easily and give him chance. He want a longer fight. If he really want it he can strike him down in a second.
Tousens Bankai is actually really good. He just got cocky about his strength and didn't defeat Zaraki immediately.

I personally would have had Gerard Valkyrie win against everyone (instead of the fight be on going) and be standing next to Yhwach's as his guard...only to have Ichigo completely take out Gerard in one shot...Ichigo gets ready to strike Yhwach, only to have it have his bankai break, at that point.
This would have shown how powerful his bankai is because Gerard just defeats 3 captains...than to have Ichigo defeated would have shown how powerful Yhwach was

Byakuya’s Bankai is just more blades, no different from its Shikai. And Ichigo’s bankai just makes him faster.
3:40 actually Kommamura's Bankai in the TYBW has an additional property, which makes it indestructible. That's why he was planning to use it on Yawch. The only limitation on that form was that he is limited by his Reiatsu. It does not belong on this list.
4:51 Ikkaku's Bankai is a special case. Technically, all Bankai are weightless to it's user. So he is only slower than his Shikai, because suffers from strain to maintain his Bankai. Imo, Ikkaku was never supposed to use Bankai that early. By forcibly unlocking it, he weakened it's potential.

I think there's no such worse bankai, each bankai has it own specialty and how it meant to be use. Tosen's bankai can be use in huge area and in stealth mode. Renji's bankai can be for large area attack, protection such as whirl around and support just like the time he help Ichigo to climb up in order to save Rukia from execution. Soi Fon's and Sajin's Bankai pretty similar as both of them do huge splash damage except Sajin's bankai more suitable to huge enemy. Ikkaku's bankai more into duel type of fight or one by one as he can endure a lot of damage even though most of the skill do splash damage.
That's only my opinion, there's no such thing worse bankai, it's just how much capability it has.

Ikkaku's Bankai being pretty much just "cut harder" fits his character and really isn't a bad ability at all contextually, since cutting through an Arrancar's Hierro requires exactly that. The key flaw that still makes his Bankai the worst though is its fragility. His Shikai already struggles with this, that flimsy wooden handle breaks in literally every battle he partakes in, but his Bankai ramps it up to eleven by actually getting damaged from dealing damage. Ikkaku chipped his Bankai's blade by striking a Fraccion twice. And since Bankai cannot be restored, it's literally just a matter of time before his own Bankai completely destroys itself. A fact made worse that he destroyed an entire blade of his Bankai in that single battle.
I would say kensei's bankai should be on the list but not tosen's

My zanpakuto's shikai would be fully metal so it wouldn't have a hilt, the power of the Shikai would be that you would basically have a shape-shifting sword, you can make it longer, wider, make spikes grow from The Sword Etc.
The Bankai would allow you 2 in case your body in the shape shifting metal.
also the Unbreakable because of the shape-shifting ability.
I would've point Jakuho Raikoben in the number 1 slot. Sure Ryumon Hozukimaru is slow to fully awaken, but he can at least activate it without prep time, and it fits his fighting style.

If he was the same level as a Captain, then it wouldn't get destroyed as easily. As seen when Renji's first Bankai got destroyed a lot.

Matsumoto literally speed blitz Nakim and stop his blows with no effort just using her wrist in just her base form then after activating her Shikai she one shot him, while Base ikkaku was completely tied with Edorad base vs base and even in bankai he barely won,, Renji in bankai one shot Illfort in his release state.
after ichigo defeated him he could only match Base Renji, after renji used shikai he was getting pummeled.
Yumichika is comparable to Ikkaku by Kubo statement and Yumichika in his Half Shikai state was no match at all against Base Hisagi, only after activating his cheap True Shikai did he win, not exactly winning via being stronger just having a better ability that allows the user to fight stronger enemies.

the difference between a Vice captain and a captain is quite large, Bankai Renji was still weaker than Base Byakuya i mean Byakuya was using low class Kido and making him blocked them with his Bankai, if he had use Hado 80s or higher he would of obliterated him and even just using Shikai forced Renji to completely seperate his bankai or force it to be broken.
Tosen could have probably won against Kenpachi if he just stabbed his heart or cut his head off instead of going for random slashes while explaining his own power to himself. Yeah, Kenpachi could burst the bubble, but at the time, he didn't properly understand how Tosen's bankai actually worked
In defense of Ryumon Hozukimaru, I don't think its full power was ever fully shown.
And Kokujo Tengen Myo's damage is shared with Saji Komamura, but the benefit is that it's also repaired when Komamura is healed making it one of the few Bankai's that can be repaired. Remember, zanpakto's damaged while in bankai can't conventionally be repaired for some reason.

I like kenseis bankai. It should be useful in most fights because they all fight with sword and unless the enemy has long range he can fight them with soo much power. Maybe overpower them. He also doesn’t hesitate to use bankai immediately

I think that besides Ikkaku's bankai, Ichigo's first bankai is pretty useless. He lost against a grimmjow that wasn't even using his sword. It just feels like to other strong characters their bankai is their go to trump card but for Ichigo his bankai feels like his shikai and then his hollow mask like a bankai. (This is still before the fullbring arc btw)
The thing is with Ikkaku and Renji, their Bankais broke and according to Mayuri, a Bankai loses a lot of its power and cannot be fully restored if broken... IF Ikkaku used his Bankai more and didn't hide it (and if didn't break), he would have been pretty amazing
And Renji, Zabimaru was still strong enough to beat or fight back powerful opponents whilst being in a weakened state, and it wasn't even his sword's true form or power anyway, so much power held back and THEN cut significantly
And Tousen beat several Captain class fighters in moments with his Bankai, yes it was for the Visored experiment, but if you're not ready for it, he could kill you quite easily with it... he wanted Kenpachi to feel scared or helpless before killing him as he saw him as nothing but a violent brute, he dragged it on but he could have seriously hurt Kenpachi with the first attack
But yes, Kido or a wide range attack could defeat it easily, we don't really know, Sajin wasn't worried about it and was ready to fight it, but we never saw how it functioned in arial combat, always just gorund combat

Tousen's Bankai isn't that bad. He only lost because of PIS. If Tousen immediately goes for the head and one shots, his Bankai is actually kinda broken. Of course its weak to AOE attacks but seriously. Bankai -> Flash Step -> Head slash/stab = GG
If you think about it Soi Fon's bankai it's kinda good for assassinations, because well...they're not going to be witnesses or survivors

Soifon's Bankai is more effective to destroy a platoon of army or a huge area where a single strike is what it takes to completely to annihilate it.

#2 the whole point of Soi Fon's Bankai is in the event that she fails her stealth attack she can nuke the area and get the hell out of dodge whether she wants to or not since the blast pushes her back.
#4 Tosen was pretty fast. He isn't slow by any stretch of the means. The fact that Komamura kept up with him who isn't a Vaizard is incredible. Also Komamura is VERY DURABLE so that somewhat negates the damage he takes. While Aizen who is of course *AIZEN* one shot every captain bad to deal more blows to finish off Sajin.
#1 It was never stated, but Tosen made a mistake by not going straight for the kill with Kenpachi. I would imagine he would do the same with any other opponent considering he knew how much of a monster Kenpachi is. At that point, any captain could probably figure it out by then. Also, you have to remember that a battle between shinigami is a battle between reiatsu.
#2 If she fails her stealth attack, she would have to go back into hiding and think of a plan to effectivley execute her bankai, and then activate it. Meanwhile, you got other captains popping their bankai's on the spot. Also, using her bankai requires allot of her energy. You make it seem like she can just pop her bankai whenever she feels like it, but in reality its not that simple for her
#3 Yes, sajin did manage to keep up for a bit... and then lost. The durability is good, especially in TYBW, but thats useless when you have someone who can flashstep everywhere and dodge all of your slow moves. In the clip, you see tosen easily flash stepping and causing damage to Sajin, unreleased

Let's be honest here if plot hadn't dictated it Kenpachi would have died under Tosens Bankai but nope that didn't happen and Tosen allowed Kenpachi to grab a hold of him. It's BS Plot Reasons sourt of like The Kage Summit & Danzo fight with Sasuke. Sasuke should have died numerous times when he was at the Kage Summit & someone of Danzo's calliber was making hella rookie mistakes because plot demanded Sasuke should win.
Sajin isn't a bufoon he can adapt, make calculations and time his strikes either that or say screw it and do some form of AOE attack.
Let's say Yama-Jii sent Soifon on an infiltration mission to take out Aizen in Hueco Mundo and she fails the mission. During her escape she could nuke Las Noches and make her escape. She's exhausted but its not like she would be on the verge of passing out. I kinda wished she trained at the soul palace to enhance her bankai. Maybe it turns into a Stinger missile that locks on to the enemy or her hand turns into a Rocket Launcher with multiple Rockets instead of just one

Tengen Myou true form is a masterpiece of a bankai, it's sad that we were not able to see it in animated series. Ikkaku's bankai is perfect for the squad and enemies they deal with, so it's not that useless and we've seen truly just glimpses of a fight during the anime series. I would put kensei bankai into this list sitting as number 1, that one it's the definition of useless. Another terrible bankai is Tensa Zangetsu (form 1), I can't recall a fight that had tides shifted after Ichigo called his bankai, that's why he was given a new one because the first form of Tensa Zangetsu disappoints.
Soi Fon's Bankai is perfect for her. Her shikai is death in 2 hits, Bankai is death in 1 hit.
When you think about it, it makes sense. If you can't get to your target with her stealth and Shikai you guarantee the kill by destroying the entire area from VERY far away and making a stealthily retreat.
ikkaku's bankai if you know isn't really useless as its power is stated to be massive along with its destructive capacity being very potent: the problem really is that its so overloaded with power that it's fragile under pressure.... so think a red hot battle axe that with the blade can slice through most hard objects but in grip snaps under how dense those objects are (even as a slow starter)

Zanpakuto being heavy or weighing a lot never made sense considering it was always a part of you and a part of your spirit. I always thought of it as it weighs something, but you don’t notice it. Just like your body parts weigh something, but you don’t really feel how heavy they are. But when it’s hit by say... Izuru’s Wabisuke, you then start to feel like it’s a weight strapped to your body part and becomes harder to move
Soi Fon's was fine. 2 hit kill shikai, 1 hit kill bankai. I can't see kido matching it. Tousen's was also good. I think the 5 worse were: Renji old, Renji new, Rojuro, Komamura old, and finally Ichigo, whose bankai was a simple powerup that stopped being cool after the first use.
I mean Ikkakus bankai did something, it cut released Edrad like butter after his shikai couldn't even scratch him. The issue is more just how brittle it is, a glass cannon of extreme caliber.

Tosen bankai would actually be fucking great if he would be a part of Ninja Division or whatever they are called, 2nd division, you get it. Use it without announcing your presence and just backstab the hell out of people while they are trying to figure out what is going on, just like with Kensei.
BTW, the biggest issue of most bankai's is it's user. He can be to dumb, cocky, arrogant, etc to use it for maximum efficiency.

Ikkaku’s power boost from Ryumon Hozukimaru may seem cool at first, but the fact that Ikkaku not only have to “wake up” the Bankai to access its full power, but he also BROKE his Bankai afterwards and therefore permanently damaging/weakening his Bankai in the process.
I’m sorry, Ikkaku. You my boy and all...but your Bankai just ain’t it, chief. The risk is not worth all that power IMO, especially when your Bankai’s gonna be weaker the next time you use it.

1st Tosens Bankai is bad only if you have AoE attacks. 2nd it doesnt have to be used in a prolonged format we see Tosen use it quick to disorient stronger opponents to defeat them (Vizords during turn back the pendulum). 3rd you cant just grab the hilt unless your a Kenpachi+ character because no selling mortally fatal strikes is not normal.
Also I hate when people say Soi-fons bankai doesnt match her. Anyone who's read our watched the series knows her assassin demeanor isnt the real her. She's quick to anger, direct, and extremely flashy. Bankai are a zanpaktous true form and zanpaktou are just extensions of the soul given agency. Soi-fons bankai matches her well.

If Tousen's bankai is AOE and not a single target, then it has a lot of uses. For example, Tousen could bring another companion then let that one to deal the blow to the victim. Remember that anyone can see inside the dome if they touched Tousen's zanpakuto. In addition, Tousen and his bankai is literally the bane of Aizen(without hogyouko).
I liked Ikkakus bankai. It just could't keep up with the power inflation, that's why it got considered weak.
