I don’t know if I’m reading too much into it but the scene with the boob eye ball 😅 it felt like a commentary on how society is fine with using breasts to advise fast food, cars, sexy lingerie etc, but when a breast is seen in public for feeding so many people still get grossed out and uncomfortable, the scene had a child in the audience watching the topless showgirl performance and the mother was fine with it but when Monstro’s boob falls on the ground the mother covers her child’s eyes. Either way the scene was such a highlight for me, I laughed because of how insane, camp and original it was. So iconic!
I Had Not Been to a Theater since 2009, and My Wife’s Girlfriend had seen this Film a couple of days ago. AND SAID IT WAS A WILD RIDE! I’m a Big Fan of Body Horror! Then reading some of these Comments I said , this is for Me! And we went to see it! Great camera Work, Great Acting, Brilliant Editing, it was completely OVER THE TOP!! Was way more than I EXPECTED!! Iv seen A lot of Body Horror Films dating back to the70s! And this one Took it to A WHOLE NEW LEVEL! GO SEE IT! Now! And Be Sure To Fasten YOUR SEATBELT! Brilliant Simply Brilliant!!!!
Loved your reaction!! Btw how’d u get access to watch the film? Deliciously disgusting this film is! It has style+substance🧪💉A social commentary on aging with body horror elements using practical effects, impeccable sound+editing. No amount of change will ever be enough to appease everyone much less undeserving, misogynistic men who do not actually appreciate women for who they are, but only how fckable they deem women to be. Sue represents the younger version of Elisabeth, still impressionable, full of faux confidence bc the patriarchy has beholden a woman’s value to beauty and youth, still fertile. Elisabeth chases her youth in the form of Sue much like someone that keeps running back to the plastic surgeon’s office. And there are consequences bc one begins to stray so far from their original appearance, dare I say monstrous. The violence we put ourselves through comparing ourselves to our own younger version of ourselves when we look at pics of us a decade ago. We must be kinder to ourselves. I like that her yellow coat symbolized the egg in the beginning and then we see Sue wearing the coat to emphasize they are one post injection. *Outward beauty, but inner ugliness to thyself
Thank you! I agree with everything you've said here. Women comparing themselves to other women or to younger versions of themselves is a form of violence, but it is often not framed that way because of the misogynistic expectations that women should strive to meet unrealistic beauty standards, no matter the cost. I got the film clips from a few different trailers I found on TH-cam.
i watched revenge couple nights agoago, of course it was great, it was obvious from that time this woman's vision, philosophy, and view of the film universe. i had only one objection to that film, i think it's not realistic for the rapist to be upset about the woman being killed and wanting to go to the authorities, the other fat guy would have given that reaction, he would have been the coward, and the rapist would have given the reactions of that fat guy, like when he was trying to strangle the woman. i didn't like how it made the rapist look like he raped her unintentionally, because if the woman is crying, screaming, begging, and you're doing what you want despite all that, you can't forget that woman in the slightest, she's a lifeless thing to you.
