A lot of people don't agree with me but I don't understand what they're doing with Osprey right now. I think he should be there tough guy and losing all these matches is taking the luster off of him
It’s amazing how much spin you guys are doing for Ricochet… the crowd didn’t throw toilet paper at him because they think he’s the heel. They threw toilet and toilet paper at him because they think he’s shit. He has been has been presented in AEW as a bitch. Therefore treated like a bitch. Pretending he’s a “great” heal is very far-fetched, considering his awesome move set. To be very honest, this match was as good as Nakamura vs AJ styles at wrestlemania
Being a bitch is his character, which doesn’t sound great at first, but knowing that he’s probably joining the Hurt Syndicate, it’ll provide an interesting contrast.
I get wanting to make Fletcher a star. I get wanting give Allin a big win so he looks legit for a world title shot. I get wanting to turn Ricochet heel. But to do ALL 3, ALL against Ospreay in the space of a month is ridiculous. Ospreay is arguably your hottest star - someone who should be carrying the brand. And here he is, less than 1 year into his AEW run being booked as a midcarder putting others over. He's losing his aura already.
MJF did his part in the beginning, but that promo battle was horrible. Doing the whole 'I could say...' sucked because he was throwing insults and insider references with zero wit. MJF has 'accidentally blurted out' his real feelings at least once before. Most importantly, the storyline still makes absolutely no sense. The Undisputed Kingdom were a heel group who beat down guys like The Acclaimed and had a Machiavellian plan to take over the company.
Credit to Craig, 2 hours into Christmas and 6 days away from the new year, dude comes out with the worst take of 2024 with “Who cares how many times Will Ospreay loses, he’s still Will Ospreay”
Ospreay already incorporated the fact that he's lost more than he's used too in that Darby promo. Losses maybe turn him heel and we get a United Empire re-vamp down the line? That's my hope. I don't think losses matter in this case since it's expected in a tourney.
I'm one of the people who were bashing Ricochet as a failure in AEW but i have to say turning him heel just might work. Heels shouldn't be doing all of these flashy moves but turning him was their only option. He'll probably never be more than a midcard guy though, which is still about what he was in WWE.
I honestly think TK has done a very good job with the Continental Classic so far. I'm a big fan of tournaments and especially round robin, it's an underutilized format; most tournaments tend to be single elimination bracket. TK is clearly attempting to make his own G1 Climax or 5* GP, which I'm all for. It's going to take time; you don't create an annual event with an esteemed legacy in 2 years. I think AEW is off to a good starts, though, with the CC. I know Bryan said the groups lacked star power, but I'm overall quite happy with who's in the tournament. I mean, outside of Komander (originally Juice Robinson) and The Beast Mortos (both those guys are really great BTW, they're just booked like jobbers) it's a murderers' row in each group. It will take several more years before the CC gains an esteemed legacy, assuming it does gain an esteemed legacy, but I think both of the first 2 years the tourney has legitimately felt like an important event. My only significant criticism is the lack of outside talent. I get that it's difficult to get outside talent for a round robin tournament because you need those people for a month+, I get other promotions being reluctant to give up one of their higher level stars for that big a chunk of time. Still, NJPW and Stardom manage to do it damn near every year; they almost always have a couple of outside stars in the G1 and 5*, and not nobodies, they're typically upper upper mid-card, nearly main-eventers. Outside of that, though, I've been quite happy with the CC both years. There have been multiple decent storylines and we've had some memorable moments, like Mark Briscoe beating the previously SCORCHING HOT Kyle Fletcher.
@@SebastianMikulec It’s a tournament for a mid card title, and it’s the main focal point on your show for about two or three months, but it’s done to hide the fact that he can’t book long term, so he believes if he gives you a tournament, and add in a new free agent or two that will keep fans minds off his booking overall. Now, If you’re going to do a tournament like that with your companies heavy hitters, do it for the main title and show Mox and Marina looking and scouting the competition from the back monitors. Use it to combine multiple angles and get as many people over as you can. By the way kicking out of every wrestlers finisher that Will Osprey gives you isn’t getting over because it exposes the business and makes it look fake.
