This is really quite shocking. To date (24.01.17) 658 have seen this. He is most likely the most important director alive, and this attention? As Scorsese says, 'the reason why there are so many bad films is that we have such bad audiences.' Anyone who has raining frogs in his films is fine by me. So why is 'Hard Eight' such a pain to find on dvd in Europe?
I thought that too for a second, but the full version is on marc maron's podcast, which has a ton of hits. This random youtube channel isn't a good representation of how many people are interested in PTA.
You're upset that a clip of an interview of him talking about his first movie that he disowned for years doesn't have a lot of TH-cam views, lol? He is great, but his movies arent commercially successful films. To be honest, I don't think an interview with any director is going to get a lot of views
This video was great... "Thank YOU" for sharing this... Paul Thomas Anderson is fantastic... ;) (thank you for NOT having Background noise or music)...
Everyone in the comments here is complaining about Marc Maron continuously talking over PTA, but I do think it's amusing that this interview is being conducted by the coach from "Glow".
Everybody is hating on the interviewer but I think he is vibing well with PTA. His interruptions give a nice dynamic to the itw and bring new interesting elements. Also it doesn't seem to bother PTA's train of thoughts. Anyway there it is, one comment to praise the interviewer's skills
Why no follow up when Paul Thomas Anderson said he had worked in Reno? A good followup question would have made things much more clear. Did Mr. Anderson work in a casino? BTW--by coincidence, Arthur Miller said he got the idea to write his famed movie 'The Misfits' because he had lived in Reno for 6 weeks to get a divorce., to marry Marilyn Monroe...
He'll always be a brilliant writer and director, I think that's clear, but there is an energy in those early films that I love. Magnolia simply wouldn't work if he wasn't high and full of coke fueled bravura for example!
I remember the line in Ebert's review about how he loves movies that explain how to get away with things...and that this movie did that.
Let me ask you a question:
Okay let me answer that--
Let me ask you another question:
yeah, really annoying.
😂😂 right, like my man, let the man talk.
Yep
Lol Marc maron is one of the best interviewers of our time

Criterion recently put Hard Eight on their filmstruck stream, hopefully we know what that means.
It's on Netflix in the UK at least

R.I.P. Phillip Baker Hall
Thank you for this.
Baker Hall is AMAZING 👏 in this

Yeah. His interviewing style is insane. Not a huge fan but I can listen to some clips.

Young PTA kinda looks like Dan Stevens
...and twice as fuckable.
Kind of sounds like him too.
@@flanplan5903 Dan Stevens is English
Phillip baker hall is the same character from midnight run in hard eight
Sidney from Hard Eight would never be told to have a glass of milk like the Sidney from Midnight Run
"So it was a mind fuck."
"Well... it was a fuck in every way."
Was that an interview of an interrogation?
Nonethless, it was an interesting interrogation. I hope PTA will be release from prison soon.

Very informative, thank you.
”Jesus Christ, why doncha have some fun? Fun! Fun!”
“Shaka laka doo Shaka laka dooby dooby doo"
I'm gonna light the cigarette old-timer!
PSH is immense in that cameo in less than 3 minutes. I think about that scene several times a week.
I love those cocaine days of pta

The interviewer is annoying, and keeps interrupting PTA. It almost sounds like an interrogation
Maybe you should wait for him to answer the question before you interrupt them and ask another one?
some producers are the worst.
This interviewer interrupts way too much
Interviewer is intolerable.
Geez, the interviewer is annoying as hell, constantly interrupting!
unlistenable due to interviewer. Switched it off after 27 seconds and downvoted.
