Hey Ben, nice review. i would like to add that overdrive pedals stacked into the BDI sound amazing. The tube warmth it provides can make even the harsher sounding high gain OD's sound warmer, less noisy and better in general.
You are the only video I've found so far, for this pedal, to show the presets graphic on the screen while you turn the knobs!! Thank you!!!
I bought the thing, but they changed the presets on the manuals. So I've been looking for the old ones
Bought this gizmo a few months ago and I must say, no regrets so far. Love the fat tube sound! It even works well with my Bass Overdrive and my Bass Flanger. Ironically both are Behringers also. :)

I have been owning one for a couple of months, and it does an amazing job with my passive PJ Bass (a korean Aria Pro II - not a cheap one, but not expensive and high end one either). It manages to make my bass to sound a lot more like expensive basses with a very crisp and rounded tone. Makes all my basses - even the active ones - sound great in recording, very focused tone, leaves a lot less to be adjusted in post recording, even in 'character-less DI mode'. In live performances it sounds great with its drive and presence as well. I will still save to get a SansAmp later down the road, but this one does its job very well until I can afford a SansAmp. Very nice review!

What is your subjective differences between the treble and presences controls? They both boost highs. Is one more upper mid focused?
Presence is just a high frequency control before the overdrive part of the circuit. The remaining EQ controls affect the final tone.

I think so. It can give it a bit more grit. Almost valve type driven sound, but have to be careful not to over do it or it will just sound harsh and over processed.
I got 1 of these used. When I used it in a band situation the F O H guy told me a nasty noise coming through the system. Had to take it out of my bass that night and have never used it again. Now I got a lot of Behringer equipment and this is only the 2nd piece that's bad. The other is a tube pedal called 911 vintage tube overdrive. On that 1 it wasn't a noise or nothing. Just sound terrible. But I did a bitmo mod to it, changed the tube and still don't like it's sound. I would use this bass D I if I needed it but wouldn't depend on it. There's also a mod for this pedal on TH-cam somewhere. Seem kinda neat to do just cause I can't ruin something that doesn't sound right already.
I might look into the mod.
@@bensreviews.9311 FrankenP Behringer BDI21 mod something or other. I don't remember all the words on his title. But that 1st part should get you there. Seemed kinda easy to do.
Is this only DI only ? Or can this be plugged straight into an amp as well ? Thx
It has both an XLR and jack out, so can be used for either.

Yes, had the EQ set to flat all the way through and shaped the sound with the behringer. Sound good, but can start to sound a bit weird if pushed too hard.
Is this direct or thru a bass amp?

no realmente, son cosas diferentes, un bajo activo tiene un preamp integrado en el circuito de las pastillas y normalmente tiene un ecualizador, saca la señal del bajo con mayor volumen que uno pasivo, este pedal emula un amplificador de vulvos

Yes good enough for beginners, its not an effects pedal but more a tone shape pedal. Plastic is very tough.
