In this video, I’ll show you how I made a stylish computer desk with my own hands using European walnut wood and epoxy resin. Table dimensions: 1400x630 mm, top thickness - 40 mm. I used walnut with 8% moisture content and epoxy resin for a deep one-layer pour. After pouring, the tabletop was sanded with sandpaper ranging from P80 to P320 and finished with three coats of polyacrylic parquet lacquer. I chose the legs from FlexiSpot. They are known for their high quality and sturdiness, weighing 38 kg, which provides excellent stability for the desk. These legs are suitable for tabletops of various lengths, and their adjustable height mechanism allows the desk to be used by both children and adults, including standing positions. I hope this video will be helpful to you!
I like the matte finish on the underside as well, but it does have a downside-it can become polished in spots over time due to contact, especially if the table is frequently used. That’s why I prefer to use a finish that isn’t completely matte, so any polished areas aren’t as noticeable.

Hello - could let me know whether the polyurethane that you are spraying is oil based or water based? Came out beautiful. I would like to use an oil based with an HVLP spraygun, which i haven't seen a lot of folks do. Any suggestions for an HVLP spray gun? Do you use HVLP or a high CFM/PSI compressor?
I use polycrylic varnish, but it’s better to use two-component varnishes that dry quickly. My spray gun is a Walcom Slim-you can look up its specifications.
@@avswood thanks for the reply. Do you use an air compressor with the spray gun or is it all self contained? If you use an air compressor, how much CFM does it have?
A pneumatic spray gun is a device used to apply paint, varnish, or other finishing coatings to surfaces. It operates using compressed air, which creates a fine mist of material, ensuring an even application. Specifically, in my case, I use it to apply polycrylic varnish. When applied with a pneumatic spray gun, the varnish is evenly distributed, achieving a professional finish without drips or excess material.
@@avswood Thank you very much for your answer! I have two more questions and I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to answer them. I can see that you have a special place where you use the pneumatic spray gun. In this case, if I want to use the same procedure as you, do I have to have a special place for this approach? Also, I am a little confused about what you are doing at 9:31. Do I have to seal the border and craks of the wood with a thin layer of resin, and then wait until the resin is completely dry to pour the final black layer of resin? I want to make a coffee table for my hause because I leave in a village and I have wood. Your profesional experience and videos learn me a lot a thing. You are the best!
@cristimanolache5890 To achieve the best finish with a spray gun, you ideally need a spray booth with proper ventilation or at least a clean, dust-free room. Dust or debris can easily settle into the varnish during application, affecting the finish. However, in your case, especially for a coffee table, using wood oil might be a simpler and more cost-effective option compared to investing in a spray gun, compressor, and filters, which also require experience to use effectively. Oils like Rubio Monocoat or similar products offer high-quality results without requiring advanced skills for application. They are easy to use and provide a beautiful finish, although they don’t protect epoxy resin as effectively as varnish. For example, varnish creates a heat-resistant surface, which is ideal if the table will hold hot cups. With oil, minor heat marks might appear, so using coasters is recommended. As for sealing cracks and edges of the wood before pouring epoxy resin, it’s important to do this to prevent air bubbles from escaping the wood into the resin during curing. Apply a sealant and let it dry fully. Any glossy areas after sealing should be sanded with P100 grit sandpaper to ensure proper adhesion of the next layer. Areas that absorbed the sealant and remain matte don’t need further sanding-simply proceed with the next pour. Lastly, ensure the wood is properly dried, ideally kiln-dried, with moisture content below 10% for the best results.
Hello! I have a question about pigment and I hope you can help me. I don't understand how much pigment I have to use for 10L of resin. I understend quntity of pigment has to be between 2-5% from total quanty of resin and for a color with zero opacity my procent of pigment is 5%. The problem is that for 10 liters of resin I have to use 500g of pigment to obtain a color with zero opacity. Is it right?
That seems like a lot! If you’ve seen my video, you’ll notice that I used around 12 kilograms of resin and didn’t even finish one small bottle of pigment. While my pour wasn’t fully opaque, it worked well enough. I believe 100 grams of pigment should be sufficient for your project, especially if the finish isn’t glossy.

I am fascinated with the matt finish under the bottom side than the top glossy look. Beautiful table over all.

I use an air compressor with my spray gun. Its air output capacity is 550 liters per minute.

Thank you for this informations. All the best! :)
Did you go around the cracks with a hot glue gun or silicone to make a boarder so it won't spill over?
I used silicone sealant for the edges, and it’s shown in the video.
Can you please link the router bit for flattening that you are using,ty
I bought it in Ukraine. Unfortunately, they don’t offer delivery outside of Ukraine, but you can look for similar alternatives.
