Joel Charron Not really. There are still a bunch of artists in the Rock Band catalog who NEVER to this day have had their big song included. Not everything is a conspiracy. It's mostly due to the realities of licensing issues.

Exactly my opinion , ive started to play this game a few months ago and of course most of the time i play dlc's , but those on disc songs are really great , its just strange when you first see , but once you start to play its great! Of course its still a "worst" setlist when compared to the other main Rock Band games , but its not a tragedy like some people are saying. Even with some really controversial songs for a ROCK Band (i'm looking to you Uptown Funky) , only thing that i dont understand its why they choose 2 U2 songs to be on disc , besides Tool on Guitar Hero World tour i can't remember other RB/GH game that has more than 1 songs for the same artist. Anyway , Sorry for the long coment but that's my conclusion: the setlist could be better? Yes , but its still fun , its been almost 8 years , lets see If we got Rock Band 5 someday or even a new Guitar Hero when the Activison deal ends

Setlist may not be a great as the RB3 or even RB2 but actually not that bad once you listen to the tracks in this video. It kinda reminds me of the 1st Guitar Hero where it had some popular stuff and then they added some lesser known stuff that was great to discover. Add this to your old DLC & game exports (soon) and it will round things out nicely. Find it funny people are posting requests for certain artists and many requested are already available as DLC - which can be imported into RB$ is you bought it already. Sure it is nice to have more stuff from Iron Maiden etc but new material and artists should always be welcome to add a bit of variety.

So Many things just don’t feel right I was expecting songs like from rock band 2 Metallica AC/DC Gunz n Roses and a bunch more but instead we get this pop playlist that just doesn’t feel right at all

Rock Band ALSO loves taking a bands slowest, most energy devoid song. There are WAY better songs they could have picked from RHCP than Dani California. Also, just going to say it: Creep is super f@#$ing depressing and is one of the most overrated songs ever. Also, "Rush, Iron Maiden..." they got COVERS of songs from those two, and aside from Tom Sawyer being another slow, overrated, overplayed song, IMO, the cover they used is not good.

Imagine being most of these people in the comment section being butthurt about the song choices for the base game.
1. Broaden your music tastes.
2. Accept that you enjoy some of the mainstream songs.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I was under the impression that a game about being a rock star would involving rock modern and classic, and their is one rule that one must follow when talking classic rock, you must have either: The Rolling Stones, or The Beatles (or both). perhaps something was forgotten here?

Fuck sake, there are 5 metal songs, as opposed to 4 pop songs, and 19 rock songs. 19.
That's taken from rbdb, and I know rock band has mislabeled some of the songs as rock, but it's also mislabeled rock songs as other genres, like "My God Is The Sun" is stoner rock, but they've labeled it as alternative.
Granted, there are a lot of alternative and indie rock songs, but rock songs make up the majority, more than both aforementioned genres, combined. So, saying "Popband 4" or "Indieband 4" or whatever, is just plain incorrect. I guess you guys are just skipping over the death metal song. Or the noise rock song. Or the Dream Theater song. Or the Judas Priest song..
Or any other rock song that is there.
After seeing the full Guitar Hero Live playlist, they don't even compare. GHL blows this straight out of the water, with an M80 shoved up it's ass. Not even a contest, clear winner here is GHL.

Eh, this song list feels like it's lacking. I thought this would blow GH Live's song list out of the water, but I'm actually starting to dig their song list right now more than Rock Band's although, I''m still not that impressed with GH Live's choices either (mostly just nostalgia for the old GH songs they included). I guess in short, I'm not really impressed with either game, but if I had to chooses one, I would probably pick GH Live at the moment.

I like some of the songs on 4 but definitely weakest of all the ones I’ve played. My partner and I like 3 best because more instruments / people to play.
See I am definitely up for a mix up of genres as the game simply wouldn’t sell with just 1 type. However, this setlist is definitely one of the weakest. I would have thought they’d want to improve it from rb3 but it got worse. For me ways to really make rockband be as successful as it once was these things need to be incorporated into the game; 1) strong setlist with popular songs from that artist (no one wants the filler tracks as the main setlist) 2) Battle mode: like on gh3 and World Tour, have it where you can battle against people using power ups 3) character creation: wtf went wrong with rb4? You should be able to customise your characters weight, age etc. 4) More in depth story mode: I love how they have made the rb rival rockudrama (cheesy I know) but have that as the main part of the story mode but add in a load more detail, make it feel like we have to make decisions as a band more rather than just simply choosing our setlist. 5) cutscenes: this kinda links back into what I just said about story mode but have more of the cutscenes like in rb3 that showed your band making more progress not just text saying you hired a minivan etc. Show us what the band is doing. 6) More stages: c’mon i’m Sick of rb4 only giving you the same 5 or 6 venues you seem to play in, there used to be so many, i’d Love to see if you’re doing really well you see your character interacting more with the crowd etc. 7) Guitars and clothes have a purpose: what I mean by this is that when you customise your character or change your guitar it doesn’t make a damn bit of difference atm, they should have something where depending on what guitar you have you score more points in metal songs, E.g. if you chose a bc rich looking guitar you score more for metal songs or something or a downside might be that a certain guitar is susceptible to breaking a string (like on gh3) something that gives your instrument purpose rather than just being there for show. Anyway this is my personal opinion on what would immediately have made this game better, obv I didn’t start talking about online stuff but immediate on disk I think this is what RB should be looking at in the future.

Bands like System of a Down, Fall Out Boy, Fleet Wood Mac, Van Halen, Black Keys, etc... honestly, I could try and come up with a list of songs that would have been better choices than the ones they used, but I think it would be fair enough to say: Literally ANY OTHER SONG by those bands would have been better choices than the one they used.

Exactly! Rock Band 4 has some good songs and considering you can export Rock Band 3’s songs for about $15, you’re getting some good content.

this is even worse than rock band 3... I don't care about over 1/2 of the songs.
i really like the rock band games, but my guitars broke. if i want to play it again ill have to buy this game, which looks super fun except for its goddamn fixation of fucking pop songs and pretty boring track list. is it worth it if i get it and just get the games i want on the store?

Rob Gretson yeah you can. If you go under "Get More Songs" and look under "Greenday" for artist there are roughly 12 songs you can download. (I.e Holiday, American Idiot, boulevard of broken dreams, we are/ St. Jimmy)

Neither GHL or this game have even one Slipknot song in the core songs. Granted one or two could be put into RB4 in future DLC, but to me, both games have disappointing songlists. Guess i'll break out my 360 for some GH:WOR if I want to play some good music.
